when i worked at a guitar shop we had a ridiculous amount of vintage Dyna Comps, 12 or 13 i think. so one day i grabbed them all, chained them together, and maxed them all out. No joke it was such a great/terrible sound. the tone and dynamics were like the equivalent of trying to speak after being punched in the throat, and this oppressive noise floor would slowly swell in as each note faded out and then immediately die when you hit a note again.
A Crate and a Metal Zone was where I started. And I still love it.
