Use 3/8 or 1/4" foam weatherstrip for a dam. I tried plumber's putty on my first too: it's a mess. also... I gave it a squirt of Rustoleum (acrylic) spray paint for tint, just an experiment but it worked!

I wonder if adding some very fine type of abrasive to the resin if it would restore some of the grip associated with these types of bowling balls as they spin down the alleyway?

Jeff Stone NO, NO, NO..!!! You Do Not want the ball sticking to someone's Hand!! The plug resin doesn't touch the lane surface.

Right. You aren't going to add anything besides epoxy to the plug. It will just get drilled out again anyways. The new balls are made from a special resin that the consumer does not have. Maybe a ball company could use the original coverstock as a plug but that's about the only way

@@caftood it might but it doesn't really matter. The only problem is plugs tend to break away over use(like they will crack or break off after a while)

Can you use epoxy resin on cracked bowling balls? My ball cracked and I want to try to save it because they don't make it anymore.
