Yes they are. Lol. Basically missiles have tracking systems. So, if a missile is tracking a target, and it knows its starting point, and reaches its destination or strike point. Depending on the tracking system tech the pilot can track the missiles starting point, and strike /impact point. I'm sure this info is kept on file somewhere and constantly improved. Thus the missile knows where it is, and where it isn't.
