    Yeah that's a bad call if it's slashing. The stick breaks above the right hand, and the contact was minimal. There's an argument for calling it hooking because Doughty turns his blade over (which is hooking under other rulebooks), however the NHL rulebook does not include that definition and specifies that stick-to-stick contact isn't hooking.

    Easier said than done. On ice officials don’t have the luxury of watching things in slow motion like you do sitting on your living room couch. If the action in slashing is there which it was and the stick is breaking, every ref is calling that. Wes McCauley is one of the best officials I’m the NHL, you can’t say that in real time that doesn’t look like a slash.

    I wish that penalties that specifically would be penalty shot worthy were worth more. Like...regardless if the penalty shot scores, there's still a 2 minute minor on top of it after the fact. (Penalties on plays where the play is allowed to continue and then a goal is scored should not negate the penalty, in that case there should absolutely be the full penalty on top of the goal.)

    Tripping a guy on the breakaway should be penalized by penalty shot and a minor penalty. It’s a very dangerous and dirty play, that results in a goal against less than 50% of the time, and often actually makes the opportunity to score worst than it would have been.

  • @bigboybeard
    @bigboybeard3 жыл бұрын

    From watching this, it looks like if the op has a breakaway and you have a chance, you should always foul. This seemed well under 50% success.
