The plastic used for this KITT model is very grainy to start with.. maybe a little bit of wet sanding would have given it more gloss when paint is applied. Now you can see the grainy spots through the paint. But it sure improved the overall look. Nice work!

I got to sit in KITT when I was about 5-7 at universal studios in California some time between 1987-89

I didn’t want to have to paint kitt, but after watching this video, I need to spend a day on it. Great job. Thanks for sharing.

I love the frontbumper lights. The rearlights are just terrible.

Painted is another story, much better, looks more like the real one. Shame, I'm a disaster in painting models.

While it does look very toyish I expected this so if I do get one I plan to leave it as is (It reminds me of how a lot of my old toy vehicles looked as a kid so it creates this odd sentimental mentality for me, it's hard to explain) But as for the actual model itself it's still a nice piece for what it is, a bit expansive but the pop up headlights and scanner alone sold me. I haven't got one yet but seeing how much goes into this KITT car does help me determine my decision a little better. As for the paint you did it looks nice, one thing though wouldn't it have been better to use a shiny clear? Regardless yours looks nice and appreciate the extra mile taken here.

Thanks for sharing this, I have a friend that bought this and wanted to open it up to cut out more leg room in the interior cabin to accommodate 1:18th scale figures. I personally would totally tear KITT up to modify it. Once you said you drilled into it, I'm sure you scared my friend from trying, lol.

It can be done there is enough room for a action figure, and there is a tutorial on how to take kitt apart without damage. I modded mine but i recommend installing seatbelts to hold the figure inplace

Actually, kit did not have leather seats. They were PMD seats and they did have one knight rider Firebird that was in a train derailment that had leather seats. That’s why the rear seat and some of the episodes can be seen with leather, but that car was always to be destroyed as for a deal with Pontiac Trans Am because of the train wreck. It was not to be sold or driven on the streets, unlike the other six knight rider cars that were bought directly from the factory or a dealership

You redid a model, I have built 2 of the Road Ready Knight Rider Cars, one of which I still drive on occasion. Scares the hell out of the local cops and yes, cruising speed is well in excess of 120 MPH. I built those to RUN!

I just signed up for the Fanhome KITT build.. 2ft diecast with all the lights and sounds controlled from his watch piece.

Great review and fun custom. Just picked one up on amazon black Friday sale for 37.99 . Gonna see if I can open the leg room up with a dremmel to fit larger figures.

This is just me, it the scanner light is more orange than red K.I.T.T's light is red K.A.R.R's light is orange. Still a neat Playmobil collector item though 😊

How do you remove the wheel Hubs when they are snapped in ?? How did you unlatch them from the body?

I’m building the fanhome model Kitt, but I had to have this as well. I received it today. I have to paint it but I’m wondering if it’s possible without drilling it? What do you think?

There is a tutorial on how to take it appart witout dammage, you have to lift the plastic up over the front tabs to pop the front off

What lights did you use? Why didn't you use red lights on the back? Can you describe in depth how you hooked them up?

Enamel paint on plastic will never dry. It will be tacky forever.

I have the 1/8 Altaya building model near to finish. Issue 98 of 110 this week. This model is astonishing!!!Also have this little by Playmobil and like it very much, less the front opening lights (stickers) and the rear lights (impressed on plastic.

How do you remove the front and rear bumper? I see two tabs at the bottom but they are too strong to be tightened with a screwdriver. I want to put lights on it as well, I really don't understand how they don't come as standard.

Am I the only one who had problems getting the headlight stickers on😂

Here’s an idea for you though play Mobile drop the ball for the price on the knight rider 2000 because in season three and four kit had the ability to become a convertible. All they had to do was make a Tonto cover that looks like fiberglass are the same way they did it on the show and just drop it right in and cover the trunk and the rear seat. It would come right up to the back of the two front seats and you have the convertible, so they missed an opportunity but maybe that’ll give you an idea because it should’ve had it

I love that you still do these kind of videos. I'm Danish, so everyone was playing with Lego, but I was always a Playmobile man. I hated that Lego broke apart when you played with it. Playmobile was very sturdy and very good to play with. My local store has 40% of the Delorean. Is it worth it?

I have all 4, the A team van, kitt, eco 1, and the delorean time machine, and even though they are all amazing, I'm sorry to say even though im a massive knight rider nerd, eco 1 is the best playmobil vehicle they have.

i need one. But the price ...wow... yeah my kids would never touch this kids toy. lol

Why would you gloss the tires?

Some voice effects and more expensive scanner light and his lovely sound. Delorean has no sounds and simple flashing lights

No offence sir, but the paint turned out quite awful. 😕 Not smooth texture but thet sticky crater-like moon-surface unevenness is occuring all around, you basically ruined that beautiful piece. I really hope that there's a way to fix it, either by scraping off the paint or giving it another shot. 🙏

Seats are wrong color but still awsome.

You beat me to it! Playmobil sent me a replacement, as the speaker vibrated with the first voice clip. So I have a spare one to paint. Thanks to this video, I'll also drill to open. Think I'll airbrush, and gloss it. Nice work, looks good, and has confirmed I should do it! Ooh, I was also thinking about sticking that furry stuff the the seats, no idea what it's called, but gives a suede effect, even though they are leather🤓

I've finished. We'll, almost. Need some thin cable for the pop up lights. Ended up painting will regular spray paint as my airbrush is playing up. Also, not going to bother with the seats.
