Ok. I went down a bit of a rabbit hole here and watched dozens of other handpan covers. It's not just the talent and creativity, but it is the HOURS he must have put in on experimentation, adaptation, drill and practice to make this work. His arrangement, fills and blend of percussion with the melody is unmatched in anything I can find. I for one am glad you're not a pro handpan player because this is so much more. Bravo.

Modern acoustic guitarists use a similar idea. I would highly recommend Luca Stricagnoli. That dude is top of the game imo.

as someone that has been playing a handpan for a decade now. the humble man will never say he is a professional... cuz we are our harshest critic... but after smashing this performance man. you're more than a professional. you're an inspiration. this was nothing short of immaculate. never stop playing this instrument. not everyone can. thank you. from one drummer to another.

@gutterg0d he's not though. It's copyywritted material. If money is made, it goes to the person who owns the rights. In this case SOAD, their studio, or whoever owns the song. If he made money from it, it would be illegal. That's why he pushes his classes and merch.... where he can make money.

@@Richard97402 Patreon and affiliate links generate very real income even if the videos would happen to be demonitized. Even disregarding all that, doing things for promotional purposes is also professional work. Being a professional just means you're doing it to make a living. The only argument against him being a professional in this case is that he's not regularly making money of the handpan, which while I don't entirely agree with it, is an opinion I don't have a problem to accept.

Not all ppl who charge for a performance are "professionals" buddy... it's used here in reference to the skill level of the musician, irregardless of money made or not made. There's always that one person in the comments who's gotta ruin a perfectly good compliment, isn't there 🙄
As someone who is a huge fan of the original song, this is a beautiful contrast. You can clearly hear the connection to the original, it's still gripping but it's extremely mellow, relaxing and inviting yet still has the obvious link to its heavy metal counterpart. Outstanding.

Never has System of a Down sounded so peaceful 😮
As someone who knows the original and several remixes. This one is just a completely mesmerising variation. Never heard of anyone play it on a handpan but its amazing. I fall asleep to it for a few weeks now. Its so calming, like a melody over a dream river.
Not sure what is more impressive, your amazing handpan skills or the impeccable timing with that joint.

I've seen guys with two pans a semitone apart that gets the job done with usually only one doubled note. If you have a DM and Eb minor pan you will like have two F's but other than that I'm pretty sure it's the most effective way to play chromatically on these.

Why do i felt that every beat was on the point? And that rhythm and melody... Is just so calming.

I advice you to listen to "Igorrr - Himalaya massive ritual" (it's technichally not a handpan but a modified gas cylinder, but it just ends up being a homemade handpan)

I listened on repeat to your handpan covers last time I ate mushrooms. Truly next level. The audio quality is there too. Was blasting them through my LS50s. I highly recommend these videos and mushrooms to anyone. I am not a DR. This is not medical advice.

Until recently I’d never even heard of one of these instruments until I came across a video of one being made. Gotta say it’s now one of my favorites to listen to and this was amazingly played!
