I fell in love with this same game. But I must admit, once Lindstrom Graced the Cover of Hitz Pro. I never looked back. It was the best combination of HItz gamplay with a tad bit of simulation. It also had one of the best soundtracks of any sports game. At least in that era.

its a shame I have just come across your videos now. I just re-downloaded my ps2 emulator and I installed NHL Hitz 2002 and 2003. I have been playing NHL Hitz 2002 so far, but wonder if 2003 is a better option? I never played them back in the day because back then I had a 6 year old son, my game time was limited. I have searched and searched for that simple answer on google, KZread, other various forms of social media and I have found a total of nothing. I'm sitting here like " REALLY?! Nobody did a comparison video, or wrote a comparison article?! " How can this be? Every sports game has an article or video comparing it to it's predecessor, but not this game, not that I can find. I know I'm late to the party here, but what are your thoughts? Your videos are awesome by the way, I love the passion. I have passion when I play, but it does not come out in a nice happy go lucky fashion, it usually comes out in frustration and swearing. This game is the most frustrating, broken controller inducing, exciting, need a nap after playing, and most importantly FUN game I have ever played and I have been playing games since 1982 and that's A LOT of games!
