Playing Dead Money for the first time

Ойындар

I made the mistake of playing this during the night. Needless to say I didn't get too much sleep. Why did they have to make the sierra madre so spooky. Also screw the ghost people. All my homies hate the ghost people.

@@danielleanderson6371 In the clinic indeed: it's at the counter opposite the front door, rather easy to find. That being said, I actually missed it when playing Dead Money for the first time (which was quite recent, like two weeks ago) and it definitely wasn't fun: the only healing item I could get from the vending machines (apart from food healing 5hp) were superstimpacks which are expensive as hell, I did not have regenerating implant and, since it was my first time playing it, I had no clue what I was doing or where I was going. I had to craft Sierra Madre Martinis to have some way of regenerating health and each hologram vendor was a blessing. And it wasn't like I was playing on hardcore or high difficulty (normal) or if I had low level (20+), but between this cloud dealing damage, ghosts throwing spears at me and without ways to restore your health, there were places when I just wanted to die. Second playthrough: way easier. Still spooky.

The level recommendation is a joke, they take away all your equipment, it's incredibly easy to get lost, and you can't do any real exploring because of the toxic clouds. I will say the bit in the casino was fun and the ghosts that spawn in the lobby are easy to avoid.

Vera's 'ghost' and her fate still creeps me out, and makes me want to avoid the Executive Suites as much as possible. Imagine being trapped in a cramped hotel suite, listening to everyone else in the building die horribly, and then you decide to off yourself with an overdose because you know you're not getting out alive and it's quicker than, say, starving to death. Then, even after you've died, your final, most vulnerable moments are recorded and played over and over again for the rest of eternity. Absolutely horrible. By far the darkest part of Dead Money, in my personal opinion.

Dead Money is my least favorite DLC, which is a shame because I really like the idea of a survival horror-type experience in Fallout. The problem is that the Villa, as you said, is a confusing mess to navigate (even after exploring a solid 95% of it, I still got lost sometimes) and is populated by a series of minor annoyances. The Cloud isn't a threat outside of Hardcore Mode, and the speakers are laughably easy to deal with, for the most part. The Ghost People are the main threat and, even then, they can be dealt with rather easily by targeting a single limb in hopes of crippling or dismembering it. The best part of DM, by far, is the powerlessness (in the beginning, anyway) and how it rewards you for exploring with the likes of the vending machine codes, Dean's stashes, and the Snowglobe. Thing is, it doesn't really have much else going for it (aside from a pretty solid story for the lore fanatics). It's an okay DLC that was just dragged down by some poor design choices. It's still decent, especially compared to some other DLC, though.

That DLC was honestly great. It was such an awesome change of pace, you had to play in a very different manner. Scavenge for supplies, worry that walking down the wrong hallway may explode your head. Normally you just run at full speed at all times in this game, not here!

You’ve heard the legends of shell city we all have, the legend, the curse. Foolishness lies in the city of the dead buried by the cloud. it was once a jewel of the sea when the cyclops died many came and made it inhabitable for fishes, many famous celebrities came to shell city admiring it. There was going to be a grand opening to it but it never did. The green cloud known as the cyclops sorrows trapped all those who dare enter it, it’s still out there, preserved ,waiting for the next victims

I loved how desperate this DLC made you. The fact that you will eventually find yourself going thru the old dried out fountains for enough SM chips to MAYBE get another stimpak, or a box of bullets, it keeps you on your toes. It's a very humbling experience, and once you leave the Sierra Madre, you have a great appreciation for all the weapons, armor, and caps you've collected during the other parts of the game.
