In this video, I get a chance to have Grandmaster Eric Hansen walk me through his thought process when he's evaluating a position and coming up with the right move. You could study little things like how to develop your pieces, how to avoid traps, and how to improve your position to set up for the checkmate for a million years and still never quite fully master the game. I really love chess. Hope you dig the series.

"too weak, too slow" is referring to a video where Carlsen plays a casual bullet game against Laurent Fressinet (a 2700 player) and trash talks him by saying "too weak, too slow" during the game. XX XX flipped Carlsen's comment around, obviously it's a joke since Carlsen is the highest-rated player in the world and also probably the strongest blitz player so he's hardly slow either.

Pedro Flores this is true, but I think it's just because he got flustered by facing a new grandmaster and being intimidated. Eric purposely played to get abnormal positions so he could beat Hutch just using aggression and tactics. This was an important lesson for Hutch that he can't just expect people to play the lines in an opening, and has to address threats, even if they come in the opening.

This past November, I was in San Diego for a neuroscience convention, and one of the evening events (unfortunately I was unable to attend, due to other commitments that evening) was a grandmaster playing several games (I would like to say six, but I'm not entirely sure) while blindfolded and on an exercise machine. Wild stuff. I wish I had been able to go, but my lab decided to do some other stuff out on the town (we're from South Dakota, so it's very rare that we're in a city even remotely as large/scenic as San Diego), and I ended up tagging along.

Practice yourself. Start with just two moves of a game on your first day. Every day replay the same game from the beginning just add 2 more moves. It will take you 2 weeks or so to finish a game. Eventually you will build up to playing full games. You need to memorize the squares first though like Bg3 and so on. Chess.com has the square trainer thing.

I personally would've moved the Bish back. So that he had to either move his Queen up (And you could've taken it at that point) or so he had to move it backwards. So that would've given you plenty of time and options. That's just me though.

12:40 The position isnt pretty at all from the white side, both of his bishops are horrible, pawn structure is awkward especially bc his pawns lock his bishops in entirely, but doesnt white technically survive if he plays f3 to follow up with Qg2? Yes he gives black's sacrificed knight back and will be down two pawns in a completely lost endgame, but at least he avoids getting mated on the spot (i think) lol
