A small update: 1. Some players may have killed the prisoners and still had the next encounter. But I was not able to trigger the helping woman encounter after killing them in Rhodes. If you help them, you can immediately trigger the woman's encounter without any problems. 2. Helping the woman and, after that, visiting the prisoner's location within a day is mandatory. Otherwise, prisoners will die, and you'll miss the gold bar. 3. You cannot trigger the chained thieves encounter directly without completing the lawmen and thieves encounter in Rhodes and helping the woman. The encounters are scripted to be completed one after another. I hope it helps. For any issues or suggestions, comment below.

1st and 3rd encounters are unrelated. You will always get the second encounter regardless of whether or not you kill the prisoners breaking rocks. And the only condition for the 3rd encounter is that you visit that location exactly a day after the second encounter, otherwise you will find both prisoners dead.

Maybe. But for me, I was not able to trigger the encounter without doing these steps in a couple of playthroughs. You can trigger the woman encounter immediately after helping the prisoners in Rhodes. Thanks for your advice. It will help others♥️

@@Player_7 for sure, I think it’s important for everyone to share our experience :) in my case, whenever I find the encounter of the prisoners breaking stone I always kill them or lasso at least one of them and take them to the sheriff. And I still get the other two encounters without issues.

What’s the correlation between the second and the third event?

maybe none beside than the order in which they are scripted to happen. the 2nd might have no link with the prisoners but regardless maybe the 3rd event might happen the day after the 2nd for no specific reason. I have never killed the prisoners, I've done the the 2nd encounter in all playthrough but I always missed the 3rd one with the treasure

The window of opportunity to free the prisoner in the third encounter is pretty small (just one game day), so you'll want to camp nearby until the next day after you save the woman and head back to talk to the prisoner, otherwise they'll both be dead and the treasure will be lost forever (or at least until your next playthrough)! 🤠👍

What happens when you just keep riding and don’t interact with the black man asking for help? (I was doing the strawberry saint denis dry dash)

False video. 1 amd 3 are not related. If you kill the ones breaking rocks you still find these guys later. I killed them, still got this encounter. No idea if you have to help the lady before the dead prisoner triggers - I got that one in the epilogue.

Can u get the treasure before helping?

Don’t know if this is helpful to anyone but I tried doing this in chapter 2, did all the steps and once I helped the women I saved and reloaded the game hoping this would spawn the prisoners. It didn’t and I thought I messed it up and just carried on playing the game. Recently I was riding past in chapter 4 and got the interaction with the man asking for help again, and this time did it right and got the gold.

I was too late and the prisoner was dead when I got to him, I guess I won't be getting that Rhodes gold bar in my current playthrough

nah bro , all these encounters are required to trigger the location of Rhodes gold bar .

I was curious about what happened there because I found the prisoners dead and a dead white man inside the shack.

They’re not. I’ve killed them in the first encounter every time and still triggers the second encounter regardless.

Played this side mission plenty of times, and it's just a pity that poor folks, probably former slaves, have to rely on a white man to save 'em - and then be generous (as the good book suggests) to offer him a reward for an act of common decency! I'm not going to be preachy about it, heck, I don't even read the bible, but if the option had been there to simply say, ''all part of the service, ma'am, and you folks need that money more than I do.'' I would have taken it. Besides, as others have said there, the escaping prisoners and the shack encounter are completely unrelated and are not part of some chain (no pun intended) event.

Nobody literally talks about it or anything but they took out the ability to kick NPCs on the ground without telling anyone is that supposed to accepted in silence?
