I'm surprised that none of them(except Cazaux) predicted that Sinner would have a shot to be year end no 1.Obvious to anyone who has watched a couple of tour games or in my case not even watched many games towards the year end.About time for him.I'll watch today's game. The only other AO game I watched was the second set of Sinner's game against Nole. His hitting was mighty impressive there.

Nice little hint from Belton before he did his press conference. Using the 2024 season to focus more on valuable training blocks & the North American hard courts rather than bouncing around Europe playing an endless stream of events. Smart strategy. So many high level tennis professionals speak highly of him.

  • @got2bjosh

@@Belec1996 You certainly tried it. I said what I said. It's a smart strategy. Europe & South America emphasize clay court tournaments & the grass season is way too short. Shelton is focusing on hard courts & there are plenty of those in North America. USA has its own Slam & 2 Masters, plus plenty of 500 & 250 events. Canada Masters isn't far way, either. Florida is the epicenter of tennis training. Shelton doesn't NEED to travel. There's plenty of tennis to be had in USA. Back in the day, most people didn't bother traveling to Australia to play AO which was originally held on grass. It wasn't until they made investments in creating Melbourne Park in the 1980's that the Slam grew more popular & regularly attracted top players. ATP Finals isn't fixed in Turin. It travels around to different countries, but historically was long held exclusively at MSG in NYC. Great Britain & France asked the US twice to join the governing body overseeing the Majors, because USO was more popular than the other Slams. The prestigious Davis Cup was started by its namesake at Harvard. As the global superpower, USA remains a dominant & highly valued tennis market with plenty of resources & infrastructure for nascent talent. USA leads all countries in Grand Slams, Olympic gold medals, & Davis Cups won. Don't let colonialism get you to thinking Europe is the be all, end all of tennis.

@@got2bjoshI agree that it is smart to include bigger training blocks in a season to develop your game. But to suggest that the U.S. alone is enough to develop well is ridiculous. But your mindset honestly shows why all americans are terrible on clay, and it could also be the reason U.S. players haven't won anything since Roddick. You have some real balls to say Florida is the center of tennis when U.S. players have been getting their asses whooped by european players for 20 years. It also seems funny to me that you say europeans are too focused on a colonial mindset while you are the perfect example of a stereotypical ignorant American...
