Yo, Beatdown! You out here playing wearing Timbos, you’re the greatest of all time!!!!!
Mr. Rob Brown is an awesome Professional drummer! He has influenced me to be more disciplined on my drums. Love this guy God bless you brother.💪🥁🙌
Rob you are the best teacher out there and make drumming so easy.
Just beautyful !! Thank You so much. Greetings from Germany.
Songo is familiar to me, I always play it but since it’s rob, you just can’t skip a video even the ones made for beginners. Keep it up man. 🫶
2 days later after you posted this video, I finally figured out how to play it. The trick is that the left hand (e's and a's) really drives the syncopation, as that's where the Kick drum beat starts and the snare accent lands. I wrote out the rhythm: 1 e + a 2 e + a 3 e + a 4 e + a R R R R R R R R L L L A L L L L K K K K
Thanks Rob! You’re a great teacher my friend!
This has dissolved a huge barrier and unlocked the drums for me. Thank you Rob!
Rob you are a messenger of truth to the procrastinate beings of this island Earth
I hear so many things to add, tom accents, crosssticking, pull the snares off too, real cool to adlib, I FEEL it, so fun to lay a latin groove
That was AWESOME!!!!!
Great timing with this video. Thank you very much!
Man that’s smoking when you add the off beats on the hats sick video man🤘🏻🤘🏻
Thank you Rob, I really enjoyed this lesson.ill be working on this one for sure.
Zack Albetta has a great video on latin styles, especially the distinction between afro-cuban and brazilian
You’re an absolute amazing teacher
Love the fact you gave a shoutout to Juan. Your Humility is admorible. Great Lesson. Thank you Rob.
Brother you are such a humble person and a Monster of a player!!! What is there not to like about you? I'm willing to bet nothing. Much love and respect Brother and I would love to meet you sometime. I'm not a chop monster. Just mostly a time keeper trying to deepen my pocket and trying my best to become a much better player than I am now. I was self taught. I grew up jamming along with Vinyl records of all genres of music. But mostly R&B Mowtown, southern rock like the Steve Miller band. Fly like an eagle was my favorite song to play along with. I have played in every state on the exception of Hawaii and Las Vegas. I've played with and toured with a lot of Artists out of Nashville, TN and Have played in Japan and North and South Korea on a USO Tour. Anyways man take care of yourself and many blessings and thanks for sharing these awesome video's!!!
Rob your playing gets better and better, I use your lessons daily for practice time and its really helping. Also man that snare sounds crazy good lol
Awesome ❤
You are brilliant Rob! 👏🥁
Freakin' amazing lesson!

Love this lesson… such a nice to teach it … thanks
Amazing lesson as always! 🔥
Glad you’re delving into Latin grooves. This lesson reminded me that I used to have an instructional VHS tape of the late Chuck Silverman that I let my drum teacher borrow. Never got it back.
Hey Rob, thanks man for everything. I strongly recommend you get the line "Ain't no need for no PDFs." put on some merch. That is the line of our times my friend.
Great work. Thanks for posting
Thanks man🙏🏻🥁
love watching your lessons bro
Thanks!
Thank you for teaching me all of this, im only 14 and got the drums 2 months ago, and thanks to you i am more confident about my abilitys
Rob this outstanding like the rest of your videos . I mean I watched a few other Latin groove videos with several rhythms which was a fantastic but a lot to digest .Your approach is to starting slow with the songo is a great introduction. Man I am in the book business as man you should think about a book!
we Always "come to the right place" ...THX Rob!
Awesome lesson... Made it look so easy!
Pocket Rob! Love this guy!
Miami sound machine... Oh yes
Great groove
love it, ❤
Backbeat ! So playing traditional feels really good for this groove especially with the subtle ghost notes being able to really control. Played both match and traditional and man just feels great all around but traditional wins for me here.
Nice1 Rob.😉
Bombtastic
But that snare drum….😍
Gracias
I suggest playing Gerardo Ortiz the drums go crazy🔥🔥 "El Cholo" is awesome
❤❤❤
That new snare is the bomb!
Thanks for this. I really found it useful. Got it down pretty quickly and it opens up so many possible variations.
Love your vids! You would love Isac Jamba. If you haven't seen him you will learn soooo much. some of the videos are in Portuguese, but pay attention and you'll be fine...lol Keep the Latin grooves comin!
I have that Syncopation book - from 1978!!
Aye Aye Cap'n trickayyyyy !
Top
Rob, you just brought the inspiration I needed for muy local music project I'm doing with my academy, Thanks for doing this!
As usual…….thanks Rob!
Was looking for the clave pattern. Wasn't until you sped it up that it started to come out. Folks, look up the clave to know what it's about. If you really want to get into Latin style, that's where it's at.
Come on Rob! I see you brother 👊🏾
This was very informative. I like many drummers and percussion players, and among them includes Shelia E, and Walfredo Reyes Jr. I also saw Carlos Santana 5 times live, and the drumming and percussion in those concerts were amazing. Cheers, Rob! 👍🏻👍🏻✌️🇨🇦🥁
👌😎🍻
Hello Mr Rob Brown. I live in Austria and I really enjoy watching your videos. I'm particularly interested in this video. Since I'm more of a beginner, I like to learn from notes. Could you be so kind as to put a sheet of music online for this exercise? With many THANKS - Günther
I would also say, to Latin-up that groove some more, especially at the peak of whatever song, add triples on the ride with the third partial on the bell
Rob Brown is No1..

Mr Rob Brown can you do another video on Linear and Gospel chops it’s been a while
I wish I was Canadia to get lessons from him
I'm gonna need 3 more brains for this one... :D
cannot click "like" enough ... THANKS
I always wonder about cowbell stickings. I can’t seem to find the groove I’m looking for.
13:17 sounds like your intro lol 😂

It's that mic'd up rimshot
Hi Rob , cool stuff thank you for uploading - is the bass drum on the ‘ah’ of 1 and then on the ‘e’s ? Sounds like its coming down the same time as the left hand ( which is playing the e’s and ah’s) ? - cheers 😎
It would be helpful if you showed the music for these patterns, for those of us who learn easier by reading notes.

@@V8Brah I'm by no means fluent in sight reading, but I do the same for picking out the rythm in GuitarPro tabs. Had to tease out of envy.
Thanks for this breakdown, Rob! What IEMs are you currently using?

What up Rob! I'm a 1 month new drummer that's catching on quickly.. I think so. I can keep up with you on the practice pad with your double beat workouts until you get crazy 😀 When I start playing on the kit I'm so relaxed the sticks sometimes fly out of my hands. I play matched grip with my thumbs up knuckles down and it just feel right to me. I love the 5b's and don't plan on changing. Any tip on how to keep them in my hands?

I’ve played for 9 years and sometimes they still randomly fall out lol. It’s not common, sometimes I go months without doing it. Then sometimes I drop them 3 times in one song😂

It mainly happens to me if I’m not paying attention, am not familiar with what I’m playing, or just holding them too too loosely
Great as always. What is the Name of the drumeo tune ?
Stay sucka free with Beatdown!
How to play a latin groove. Learn Español. Learn to dance salsa. Play the maracas. And don't forget to sing clave rhythm when practicing.
They are moore ways to play it
I hear you man, but Reggae is equally sexy. :-)
First to watch….
This kind of lesson is expensive from where I am living.
You been "filling-out"? (Pun intended?) Or is that an effect of the nice beard?
