Colin You can pick up extra hours and make $130k as a nurse. $80k is base pay. Lots of potential is there to make more, especially if your wife watch the kids, you can work 2 extra days per weekX also look into the hospitals, they pay more

There are always extra shifts to pick up if you are working in a hospital setting. There are departments within a hospital you can pick up call shifts and get paid time and half when called back. Also, work weekends and holidays for weekend differential and holiday pay.

@@rus-wu5ufIt depends on where you went to high school because you can graduate from high school at age 16 depending on the kind of program your school offers From there you can finish your nursing school within 2 and a 1/2 years.... The difference in pay across the country is dramatic because there's an over abundance of nurses in the Tampa Florida area. People only get $25 an hour as a nurse.

Frankly, knowing what I know about the disaster that is the college loan debacle, I could not do that for a living. You're telling them what it's gonna cost and they've got stars in their eyes and you're not telling them that the kid should get a job and pay his way through like 37% of kids do. Financial advisors are a big part of the problem. Half the kids drop out and still owe money. They have no future because it's their passion. And the parents are proud the kids going to college and will just sign up to be a cosigner like 93% of people do. You should be ashamed of yourself.

@@mamabear2020 Do not depend on commenters on this You Tube site for information. You need to go directly to the college or university where you would get a master's degree (or several if you want to compare) and direct your questions to them because programs will differ from one program to another. Take your transcript of your college classes with you and ask what pre-requisites (called foundational courses) you would have to complete first before applying and then get directions about their application process. These pre-requisites would likely include some biological sciences, behavioral sciences (which you have with your psych degree), anatomy courses, and perhaps even coursework in phonetics. Many grad schools also require you to take some kind of a general entrance test like the Miller Analogies or GRE as part of your application process and, if that is true for the programs you are considering, you will want to spend some time prepping for that and also realize those tests are only administered several times a year. Some programs will admit you and then let you catch up with these foundational courses your first year, and others want you to have completed these courses first before applying. The good news is that many, if not most, of the foundational courses can be completed inexpensively at a community college. I hope this is helpful. God luck!

Sea Bands - pick these up from your drugstore and you and your family will be seasick free without the use of medications. They are a pair of wristbands that each have a half small marble size that positioned correctly will act on a pressure point to prevent nausea. This worked for my brother who is very sensitive to motion sickness and brought a pair for him. It was like night and day after the first night. Both have to be worn for it to work. He was able to enjoy the full cruise. They can be showered/pooled with. I brought a backup pair just in case for him. I am well into baby step 7 and if I could make it it, I would. There are just too much obligations now and in the near future. I will surly to keep an ear on the next cruise or trip gathering. Great show guys! ❤

Linda - whose brother is paying for her son's college. In my opinion, in no case should the son be told up front how much money is available for his college. Fewer than 50% of students finish college in six years or less. He should honor the gift by being financially responsible - start at a community college to get his gen ed studies and then transfer to a state school to finish at reasonable cost. Then if he is successful each year and continues on, he can know year by year that the money is available as long as he is on track. And what is the crazy idea Ken and George proposed of asking if any "extra" remains, can he use it for a car or a house? That is really being greedy and looking the proverbial gift horse in the mouth. The uncle is providing him with an EDUCATION - he should not abuse that generosity. The point of a "free" education is to be able to go out and EARN the money to pay for your own car and house! Also, Ken should have asked what the interest and gifts of the son are. Some degrees, such as engineering and some hard sciences with multiple labs, take longer than four years to complete.

How can someone be smart enough to make $130k a year in the car industry and become a nurse by 21 and yet still make such incredibly bad financial decisions? I get that some people literally are too stupid/ignorant to understand the math but it doesn't seem like that's the case for him.

Cee wanting to switch from a degree in sociology to a master's degree in speech pathology. As usual, the advice about educational programs is weak. She cannot get a teaching position in any higher paying school than her small religious one because she does not have the qualifications to teach with a sociology degree - so don't advise her to change to a full-time teaching position. Google research is not adequate for this decision! The jump from a sociology degree (about the easiest one to get) to a master's in speech pathology is significant and will likely require her to get pre-requisites including some coursework in various areas of anatomy. She should get those pre-requisites at a low-cost community college (if possible) or state school and THEN decide if she wants to go on. It appears not to have occurred to her that she would have to be accepted first into a program - again, not automatic. There are other avenues for her to build on with her experience and degree that pay more such as being a full-time school social worker - that would increase her income and perhaps a school she works for might have a tuition reimbursement program.

There are alternative teaching certification programs where any bachelor's degree is accepted. It typically takes a year and she would then be a fully certified teacher. It's what I did 12 years ago. My sister is in one now

@@mathhomeworkhelp6063 Yes, there are alternative roads to teaching certifications, but these vary GREATLY by state as education is still a state matter. In my state someone with a sociology degree could not be certified to teach in a year which is the reason a provisional license is given for a three year period (and it usually takes that long to transform a bachelor's in a field like sociology into a teaching degree.) Future teachers who majored in a specific field like history, English, one of the sciences, or mathematics would be much closer to being able to gain teacher certification as they would have more of the state requirements already completed. I am well aware of the requirements as I was a department chair in a high school for over a decade and worked with several future teachers with provisional licenses during that time. In the meantime, she would likely have to borrow money to get certified to teach as she already had a significant debt she was trying to pay down and a tight budget. Gaining teacher certification would still leave her with many pre-requisites to complete before trying to gain access to a speech path master's degree.

@@mathhomeworkhelp6063 I don't know why my response to this did not post yesterday. Yes, there are alternative teaching certification programs, but they vary by state.. The issue with her degree in sociology is that it is not a good match for any teaching degree and she would have a lot of extra courses to take to be certified in many states. That may be the case for her since she was NOT able to find a teaching job with her sociology degree except at a small private school with low pay. Most individuals who seek alternative certification do so in a discipline that they are going to be teaching (history, math, science, etc.) and have most of the state required coursework already done. Our state does not accept any bachelor's degree - and someone is given three years to complete additional coursework and it often takes that long. I was a department chair for over a decade and helped many teachers through alternate certification.

Maybe the ex already lives 30 minutes from her house, and her moving in with new husband increases that to an hour away (he was 30 minutes away, not 15). If that’s unreasonable, what is reasonable? Within city limits? Within the state? How about within the U.S.? How far do we allow one parent to take kids away from the other? They both agreed to keep the kids in the same school district, it’s perfectly reasonable that she should abide by that agreement.

Respectfully, I disagree…. Everyone has their own opinions so take mine or leave it… I do understand what your saying and I am very sympathetic towards what’s happened to this poor kid, both are tragedies, however, I do believe that some kids and adults don’t like to dwell on the negative things or oppositions that have come their way, and are actually able to “treat” themselves or move on towards more positive light or outcomes in their own life by channeling that negative energy or tragedy to positive energy and move on, ….set new goals for themselves and not have to go get on medication or therapy. God helps some people through prayer and meditation to Him. And some just set goals for themselves and there’s no shame in setting and achieving goals without having to dwell on the past. Does that make sense? It wouldn’t hurt for him to maybe go to counseling if he feels he needs it, or the mom feels like it gets unhealthy. But working towards a goal and hard work is not a bad thing. Again, I am not being ugly, just presenting another view of what he may be doing, and it may not be unhealthy at all… some people are just prone to work harder than others… Some 100 fold …. Some 60 fold and some 30…. And then there’s the lazies 😅that sit on their back side and become a couch potato which is more unhealthy if you ask me. 😂😂 Please don’t think I’m being ugly … just my opinion….
