    It is nice to learn this for clawhammer, and then you can sing "The Whole World 'Round" along to it. Also, clawhammer music in standard G is really nice.

    Thank you Jim! I keep getting stuck on the walkdown from the 10th fret. Not sure about the finger roll from the 6th & 5th frets. But I'll keep on Pickkin till I figure it out!

    Don’t get hung up looking for a specific roll. Just make sure you hit the melody notes you’re expecting.

    Hi Jim, I've been looking through your Bluegrass Tune Tutorial Playlist and noticed the 102nd Video seems to be out of place (it's a Channel 4 clip about the explosion in Beirut), just thought I'd let you know.     Well, my resolution was 3 new banjo tunes this year, and this is the third one I’m starting today! ( Got Foggy Mtn worked out finally! Along with YAM Sunshine). Once I put this to bed I’m going to try 2 more by year’s end! Thanks so much! BTW, how about some Christmas song vids and tabs?? All the tabs online are single note plucking and that’s no fun at all. 😊

    Hey jim, iv been playing for about 9 months or so and i have really wanted to learn “there is a time” i know you have already done a little video on it but for some reason i cant seem to get it right. I hear the forward rolls and all but for some reason i just cant get it. I would really really love it if you just did a quick tutorial on it or another demonstration on it. I really love this song and have wanted to learn it since i started playing the banjo. Weird thing is iv done much more difficult songs. Even other dillard songs like Doug’s tune without a problem. This one just gives me trouble. Please please do a little demonstration. Thank you so much jim you have taught me so much.

    HI Jim! I'm brand new to banjo. I did your other intro banjo series of lessons and they've been incredibly encouraging and helpful. I learned Shady Grove as you teach it in this video, but somehow I still can't get it to sound how it does when you play it in the intro. Are you incorporating forward rolls or hitches or something? It sounds fuller when you play it than when i do

    I really like this arrangement! I just learned shady grove in E-minor, and I'm a banjo newbie - is this arrangement basically to accommodate the fact that D-minor requires a different tuning to play without going insanely up the neck?

    It's in D Minor because I learned it there for the guy I played it for that I talked about in the video. Not really much of a different tuning... I actually never "count" 5th string changes as a "different" tuning.

    If you’ve noticed I started doing that over a year ago - just like I did with this video. Thing is though, I use songs in these videos to teach folks how to play banjo / not just how to play back a memorized stream of notes.

    thanks. Is this often the case with bluegrass songs? I've learnt an A/B cripple creek that also seems a bit short. I'm guessing it would feel less repetitive if there were other musicians accompanying.@@JimPankey
