Play Cool Songs 17: ‘After Midnight’ by JJ Cale
Here's another cool song you should probably know. 'After Midnight' is a great song to work on your internal clock. Check it out and have fun :)
Hello! My name is Nathan Leonard and I am a guitarist, songwriter and teacher from Brisbane, Australia. My KZread channel is all about having fun with guitar stuff - playing cool songs, practicing niche things and trying to get better on this beautiful instrument. It's lo-fi and humble: no tabs, no two-camera angles, no Patreons. Just me talking into an iPhone with my guitar. Thanks for tuning in and hope you get something out of it :)

Cool thanks I’ll check that one out!
Great stuff. Too many KZread guitar instructors think a lesson can be aimed at everyone from absolute beginners to intermediate. They can’t. Your lesson is a nice early intermediate lesson.

Hey thanks so much - hope you found it helpful :)
Nice! J.J. Cale had his own way of playing, that's for sure. I'm not good at Chet Atkins style, but it's nice to see the chords and runs.

Yes for sure - J.J. is the man! I suggest that focusing on the rhythm and groove with your runs is worthwhile practice. Thanks :)
many thanks.

Thanks so much - yep love this guitar. My fave!
Cool song but if I were to add some suggestions for your video structure it would be do a clean play through of the track at the top so we know what we are supposed to be playing. 2nd, just drill down a bit more into the scales, the patterns and extensions, unpick the phrases etc and this would make it a bit more accessible to beginner-intermediates….but I like a challenge so have subbed! 🎉

Hello! Thanks heaps for the feedback - that seems to be a standard template for guitar lessons on YT. I guess I'm assuming some prior knowledge from people but will try to be more explicit with the details. There's so many great channels and resources online now for people to level up their playing. My modest little videos are just a casual chat with a few useful ideas that hopefully help people with their practice and performance. Appreciate your thoughts and I will keep it in mind for future videos. Thanks!

If he played the song all the way through, YT would have busted him for a copyright violation imho.
I still have the Bonnie and Delaney album.
