Great video. So true a simple game is a good game. Being responsible and reliable are two very important traits to have especially as a D man.

Excellent content as usual. I am currently trying to focus on just a few shots, from just a few positions, to dial in accuracy and power. Hockey is a never-ending gift - just when you level up in one tiny area of the game, you still have dozens of areas to improve on.

It would be awesome if you could do a breakdown on Eric Karlsson. I am usually a forward but I am going to play defense this year. I am planning on and am already an offensive defensemen and am very aggressive. At times maybe even a little bit to aggressive so if you could break down what his offensive game is and when to be aggressive that would be great! Keep up the great vids!

100% with you on the snapshot. I never take slapshots, even on one timers. Also gives you the option of changing the angle before shooting.

I'd like to see something about Nathan MacKinnon. His hands and ability to bring fearful offense into the offensive zone is remarkable. Another idea (which will come as a surprise to some) is Dmitry Orlov. His ability to read the forward rushing the puck is eye catching. He can also rush the puck himself very well.

I do love the channel and all but this is exactly what Bobby Orr says not to do. I am currently reading his autobiography called "Orr: My Story" He dedicated a whole chapter to how he thinks defenseman nee to be more creative and experiment with things. He also says how nowadays no coach would let him play his style of play. Which is joining the rush, creating a rush, not dumping puck in every time you enter the zone. He was creative with his position and experimented with things. That clearly workex for as seeing as he is one of the best defenseman ever, if not, the best. I do love your videos but I do have to say that I respectfully disagree with this video.

Quixotic 9 that is 100% correct. But have to be creative and responsible. If you are a liability defensively you will never have a chance to be creative. Watch what I’m taking about in this video, it’s not about DON’T TAKE ANY CHANCES...it’s about how to take smart chances. Sometimes BEING creative is about learning how to get a shot on net instead of dumping it into the corner or how to rush the puck instead of Dumping it in. Does that mean you have to try to dangle everyone on the ice? No. You need to take SMART chances and be creative within the context of also not being a liability to your team. Hopefully that makes sense. I suggest you fully understand this concept if you want to be an elite level offensive defenseman. Brent Burns is one of the best offensive defenseman in the NHL today...not 40 years ago. I highly suggest you study and learn from him AND from Mr Orr. But don’t take anything someone says as gospel. Keep learning from everyone and apply pieces that work for you.

I agree, imo burns does not play responsable defence... I find that he rushes the puck carrier too often and is therefore half of the time in the wrong position to defend properly.
