    According to Jerry Brainum, an old school bodybuilder who is VERY knowledgeable about all things nutrition and fitness, synthol will eventually break your muscle tissue down into scar tissue - yikes.

    Not only that but this is huge in Brasil & south America in general. Half of the time they are using normal oils & not actual synthol. It's pretty common for people in this part of the world to be dumb asses & lazy when it comes to bodybuilding. It's a trend that has been addressed by the bodybuilding community right across the world!

    Just one more addition - synthol originally was created with certain edible oil & fat blend by some bodybuilders who wanted to kinda cheat for competitions & thus supposed to be absorbed in the body later like saline. It's supposedly said to be inspired by fat transfer/sculpting by plastic surgeons. However these days, only certain people (with supposedly psychological issues) just pump more dangerous blends of oil & fat that aren't edible in the first place thus causing cysts in the injected regions or worse puss in infected sites. This is why this & one more person who's addicted to synthol and definitely has some sort of body dysmorphia (maybe bignonia) chase quick transformation methods like these. In short, please please don't do this as it's even worse than illegal steriods & even more dangerous.

  • @gildedpeahen876

    @gildedpeahen876

    As a former heroin addict I can firmly say that muscle popping anything will lead to cysts, and abscesses. Regardless of how soluble it is, if you’re jamming tons of it directly in your muscle, your body just can’t catch up and you get necrosis and infection. The more I learn about bodybuilding the more I realize that it’s just ritualized theatrical competitive body dysmorphia with a combination eating disorder/exercise addiction preparation program.

  • @ShardulIyer

    @ShardulIyer

    @@gildedpeahen876 yes, it's correct. The medical version of such procedure is the Brazilian butt lift where fat is injected into the adipose tissue for the lift & not the muscle itself. Despite targeting the adipose tissue, the procedure is so complicated that it's usually not recommended for most as the risk of accidentally injecting into the muscles is pretty high. I am guessing that the person behind synthol had a similar idea & that's why I mentioned "supposedly" as creating a ballon effect by injecting into the muscle site is easier than targeting an already low bodyfat adipose tissue over the muscle. In short, this is exactly why synthol is extremely dangerous irrespectively of any blend used as improper injection leads to lots of complications

    This case got me thinking. If a patient came to you, and they admitted to having body dysmorphia and we're trying to change their body in a way that would probably be unsustainable and permanent, would you be allowed to prescribe mental health treatments before allowing surgeries? What would be the procedure on that? For example, I was trying to get a new mental health medication, but my doctor said due to my low BMI I would have to visit a psychiatrist about my poor eating habits before they could continue with treatment for my other issues. So if someone comes to you for cosmetic surgery, and it's very clear that they have a body dysmorphia which might make them somewhat under the influence of mental health, do you consider it ethical to proceed with physical treatment?

    Dr. Youn's face is tue exact face I see on everyone who finds out about synthol oil. 🤣 I remember that guy in europe who had to have his mucles operated on to remove puss, in a documentary. Then he went and started injecting again after surgery. I was diagnosed with body dismorphia over a decade ago and I struggle with it too. My husband has it mildly as well because he works out a lot but still thinks he is skinny and is bewildered when he puts on a suit for work and adjusts his tie and rips the sleeves. We both can't imagine the level of desperation and psychosis that someone would resort to in order to look like they were transforming into Tetsuo from Akira. (Japanese anime) We feel for them because its hard never knowing how you look until you see past photos of yourself and don't remember looking that way at all or not recognizing yourself. I hope this condition becomes more known and understood because it is extremely confusing on a daily basis. Hope he gets help. As well as all the other chronic users. 😢

    I relate to this so much. But I’ve never seen anyone else actually state how we really don’t have the ability to remember looking like past photos of ourselves. I’ve had very minimal cosmetic surgery and regretted each time. Later I’ve looked back at photos and was like oh wow did I really look like that? Why was I complaining. Lol. At least I understood very young that the person in the mirror isn’t the same person other people see so I’ve stayed away from doing anything that could potentially make me unrecognizable for real.

    When Dr. Youn was describing what BDD was there was an illustration of a skinny girl sadly looking into a mirror with an image of her self busty and curvy. But I think a more accurate representation would be that image reversed, where the real woman is curvy and busty and she’s sad looking at the mirror of a scrawny girl representing what ever insecurity someone might have. It’s a condition where you don’t see your self perfect and beautiful, even if you are. I’ve had it, I’m on anti-depressants to begin my treatment and I already am starting to love all my curves and strangeness. It’s addressing the anxiety that I think helps the most to be honest. (My anti-depressant helps with both.)

    omg i know this has nothing to do with the content of the actual video but my mother language is portuguese and the captions on the original vid are wrong so many times 😭 that part where he talks abt how he was working in church and the little girl wouldnt come to church bc of him.. he never even mentioned a church 😭😭 he just said he was working at his job (he then calls it “serviço” which means service so it COULD have something to do with churches as serviço could mean sermon but he’s probably talking about his job as a cop that he mentioned early bc we use “serviço” to talk about any job). then he said a woman came up to him and said “my daughter is 12 and she thinks you’re a monster”. again, no mentions of any church 😭😭 he also never said he tried to take his life, he just said he got depressed and they discharged him bc of that. its not a big deal of course but its kinda crazy to see ur own language being translated wrongly like that and see everyone reading the captions and saying “ah thats what they said” when it is not. i wonder the amount of wrong captions ive read and the things that got lost in translation because of not knowing the language… anyway thanks for the educational video once again 👍

    Estigor contains testosterone propionate, which has a very short half-life. Any exogenous testosterone therapy will cause his body to stop producing testosterone. Because of the short half-life of the propionate ester, he would need to inject almost daily to keep his body's testosterone at a steady level. He would be better off using testosterone and similar anabolic steroids than injecting oil into his muscles.

    I have been diagnosed with BDD. I’m a 23 year old male. It’s amazing how the brain works. I’ve been consistently lifting weights for about 18 months now, with a very strict diet and a customised training plan made by an instructor. I’ve gone from 70kg to 85kg with a 15% body fat. Yet, when I look at the mirror, I see the same scrawny skinny man. Not long ago, someone took a picture of me. Some time later they showed it to me covering the face so I wouldn’t recognise myself at first sight. My first thought was “damn that dude looks fine and swole” Then I realised it was me and immediately perceived my portrait as skinny again…

    These stories always make me a bit sad, but I still like watching them, because the mindset these people have is so... different. I'm someone who, for example, monitors moles and keeps a close eye on any of them that look even a little bit suspicious. I even have a pretty big scar from getting a weird bump removed that looked sus (but was actually safe) and was sensitive. I'd much rather have scars I dislike and be at peace knowing that whatever was on my body was not dangerous than have a scar-free body but be unsure whether I'm okay or not. And then you have people like this man, and so many others, who will go to questionable "surgeons" to get dangerous surgeries done for cheap, who inject whatever into themselves just to achieve a certain look, or go under the knife out of their own will 50-60-100 times for unnecessary surgeries. Sometimes they do it fully knowing the risks, other times they don't even care about them, they just want to get a certain look at whatever cost. I'm aware that most of them most probably have body dysmorphia, which is no joke, I suffered from it before as well and may still do (but thankfully it isn't too bad), but the midset is still so.... different. No matter how much I hated my body as a teen, I wouldn't have gone for something that could potentially cost me my life. The fact that there are people who do it willingly over and over again is just very difficult to grasp without seeing it with my own eyes. I hope that all of these people manage to somehow get over that mindset, the body dysmorphia, start to value themselves as they are and take care of their bodies a bit more - before anything bad befalls them. I'm proud of this man for taking the first steps and resisting the temptation. The road ahead of him will be long and difficult, but I hope he stays strong and makes it to the finish line.

    Doctor I need help! I'm loosing enormous amount of hair all over scalp after chemical straightening from a salon! It was done in summers and i suspect they didn't wash out the chemical properly. My scalp health was surely compromised. No burn on scalp. But loosing all over since 6 months. Please suggest what to do? How to make scalp healthy and regrowth help!!!! I'm sure the scalp absorbed chemical initially!
