    Thank you My lecturer in university used virtual power instead of virtual work. I mean he multiplies load to velocity. And for internal power, he multiplies moment to rate of rotation. I dont know which one is better but this video was more understandable.

    Hi Dr, if it is required the minimum plastic moment is that mean that we need to get the plastic moment from the beam mechanism then from sway and then from the combined action and take the lowest one ?

    in case of udl, when we calculate external work done as: load*deflection ; the value of deflection will be in terms of area.. that means u need to calculate area under the udl. triangles are formed in plastic analysis .. so similarly in case of udl we use 1/2 b*h where b is the entire span of udl and h is the deflection acting at the mid section of udl when we get the value of area that becomes our deflection .. hope it helps u mate

    In example 1 how do we know which side is compression and which side is tension??

  • @MrElgamal77

    @MrElgamal77

    3 жыл бұрын

    The moment direction is always opposite to the movement of the element. For Ex, if a column is rotating clockwise, the moment at it ends will be count clock wise. This is also applicable for beams. The tension is always at the tail side of the moment and the compression is at the arrow side of the moment.

    في المثال الاخير الانهيار كان فقط في الكمرة العلويه. لذلك يمكنك رسم العزم في الكمرة فقط و طرف العمود العلوي. في الطرف السفلي من العمود يوجد عزم بنصف قيمة العزم عند الطرف العلوي.
