I dont understand how do they assume the value of -100 in sway, do we need to calculate or not from anywhere. Can we assume it also 500, 600...or only it should be less than or equal to 100
@MrElgamal7718 күн бұрын
You can assume it as you want. 500 or 600 or any other value. At the end, you will have same final moments

In doubly reinforced section, we need to have steel in the compression side of the beam as well as steel in the tension side. This is explained in previous videos. Check the video of doubly reinforced section to understand this.

Thanks for your fantastic videos Dr. 🎉 Assuming that the 40xbar diameter anchorage length is still too much length for the space available in a section, even after bending up the bar at 90°, what is to be done? Every other thing is well satisfied in yhe the section, just this anchorage length 40xd issue
@MrElgamal7728 күн бұрын
Thank you for your nice words. You will never have such thing. You will need bigger bar diameters in bigger footings and therefore you will have more distance for the development length.

Hello what if the ly and lx are both 6m and the slab has 9 panels like this do we still use one short end discontinuous for p2?
@MrElgamal7728 күн бұрын
You can do that or you can use one long edge discontinuous. Both will give almost same thing because Ly/Lx = 1.

Good day sir am really confused about the formula used for axially loaded and uniaxial loaded column it seems like u mixed them up Looking at the code (BS 8110) As per Clause 3.8.4.3(Nominal eccentricity of short columns resisting moments and axial forces) The formula given there was equ 38 N = 0.4FcuAc + 0.8AscFy So am confused sir I dont know if u could pls clarify this
@MrElgamal7728 күн бұрын
No perfect axial load on columns. In reality, there will be always a minimum eccentricity. The equation you write is the one we use in this case. If you have approximately symmetric arrangement of beams, you use the other eq. of 0.35Fcu………

I had a question, when dividing the total weight F to get the distributed load W (load calculations in first step) why you divided it by 10m not 4.5m? Shouldn’t be divided by 4.5 so it can be distributed in the 10m direction??
@MrElgamal77Ай бұрын
No. This load is over the total length of the beam which is 10 m. To change it to distributed load, we divide the concentrated load by the beam length which is 10.
