A proportional divider used for sketching is useful for getting accurate proportional/scaled measurements.

For some finer details, like getting a surface really round or something, what would you recommend? I have been trying to see if I can use a really fine grit sand paper, but no one that I can find has used sandpaper. And also how water can be used? Like can I re-wet it, and such?
