Thanks hope it helped. Depends on the paint and consistency and needle size tbh I adjust it quite a lot to get the right flow. Can be anywhere between 5 and anywhere up to 40. I usually work around 15 to 22. No hard abs fast rule I give you there I’m afraid. Best of luck:)

How do you do the quick puffs of air with the airbrush? I was always taught to press down for air, pull back for paint, go back forward so only air sprays, and then let go of the trigger. It looks like you are pressing for air and paint at the same time and releasing the trigger at the same time. Shouldn't this lead to clogs with paint dripping into the nozzle in between spurts of air?

Hey there. Yes best practice is as you say down for air abs back for flow (assuming the airbrush is dual action) I tend to use much thinner consistency paint and do many thing layers. Also I use a .35 needle for most things which helps with the clogging. I find with good care of the air brush and constant cleaning of the tip with a moist sponge I don’t have any issues with clogging. Again I cannot stress how important the right consistency and right air pressure is in this thoughts I work about 25psi but sometimes as low as 5 and up to 40 at times. The best advice I can give on air brush use is to get to know your set up do exercises like making circles and constant line thicknesses to really understand how yours likes to work. There is no magic rule unfortunately. Hope that helps shed some light on it and thank you for watching :)

Have you gone as far as adding some wisps of cotton to make it look like smoke or heat is coming up off of the weapon?

Thanks. Yeah so you could replace the air brush steps with light dry brushing around where you want the glow to be and achieve much the same effect.

Noted since shooting this video I’ve changed the lights abs camera I use and this is on the list of videos to redo this year. Thanks for the feedback on this:)
