ok, jessica, why are only looking at microtransaction side of pvz 2, like thats the one thing pvz 2 haters hate on pvz 2 aside from unbeatable challenge, these two things shadow the waves of content, its just so sad that to this day, people are still hating on pvz 2 for microtransactions and its unbeatability, now don't get me wrong I am not saying pvz 2 is perfect, it has its flaws, like the devs hopping on to the 'modern mobile game trend' however the adventure mode is decent, also the 'unbeatable challenge' is also sometimes good, as pvz 1 is incredebly easy, which is one thing people never mention about the first game.

I am sorry but people saying EA did remotely anything to popcap is just untrue, its like saying that nintendo is responsible for ruining pokemon. EA is the publisher, the microtransaction stuff planned for pvz 2 even before they were aquired by EA. EA had very little say and only helped popcap with publishing.

As someone who had this series as a hyper fixation for a few years, I have a few corrections: Pvz 3 has never officially released and by the looks of it won’t be soon, Battle for Neighborvile was not a battle royal game but was same as garden warfare 1 & 2 but was just a bit unnecessary and had updates end a year after launch, and Pvz 2 was a pretty great game around launch, easily on par with the first on in some aspects, but then slowly got more and more predatory with its micro transactions and dumb plant upgrading system that the game’s not even that fun anymore. Anyways, Loved the video and look forward to more stuff like this ❤

PopCap made so so many of the games that I sunk hours into growing up: AstroPop, Zuma, Insaniquarium, Peggle, many versions of PvZ (the ds one had some cool exclusive minigames despite the shitty everything else), both Feeding Frenzy games were great times, even just Bejeweled was addictive among so many others. They always sold for a low price, had rather simple premises, but so much polish and love put into them and lots of replayability not even counting achievement hunting. Love seeing people touch on more of their forgotten titles, and even other seemingly low budget shareware of that time period, lots of interesting games among the huuge pile of cheap copies you'd find on sites like big fish (Wik and the Fable of Souls is a really neat one I remember, not many people talk about it though). ramble aside, fun video! I've seen you pop up a ton in my shorts feed, and while your long form content doesn't seem to be pushed very well I thought I'd check this one out after seeing the community posts, not disappointed and I'll probably have to take a look at your older stuff, always interesting to watch even with the stuff I've heard about elsewhere

PVZ Garden Warfare 1 is honestly one of the most fun games ive ever played. like ever. hardly a shooter player, hardly a multiplayer team game player, and even less of a TF2 player, that game is just so unbelievably satisfying to move and shoot and jump around in. the two main modes were FANTASTIC. the first was a PVE mode where you're always playing plants, and have to defend a garden from increasingly absurd waves of zombies, much like the original pvz, except you're in third person. there are tons of flower pots strewn across the map to plant your own funny little defenders to help out, some being old faves like Repeaters and Ice shrooms, as well as some fun new additions that of course are plays and puns on plant names, such as a mortar called the Bamboo shoot. the other mode was PVP and had the zombies trying to contest objectives while the plants frantically try to hold them off. the designs and setpieces of these maps were INCREDIBLE and insanely varied! in one, the zombies are airdropping in and have to avoid the anti air Flax Cannons (lol), in the next you're storming a mansion on a hill with coconut cannons launching projectiles down your lanes trying not to get bowled over, then the next map you're on a golf course pushing a giant golf ball that's actually a massive bomb and attempting to get a hole-in-one, and then after that you're trying to defuse the Tactical Cuke from launching and creating cuclear fallout ive never played the 2nd garden warfare, but i know the original had that same level of love, care, and attention that the original PVZ got. plus there was a collab with Cheetos that created the legendary Chester Chomper. go look him up, you're welcome >:)

Given your experience with mods, I am surprised that you haven't played any mods of PvZ2 that take that addictive gameplay of that game and remove microtransactions completely while redesigning levels and other great improvments.

@@JessicaIn3D If you look beyond the awful microtransactions and scummy tactics here, PvZ2 at its core is a very good game that rivals PvZ1 in a lot of ways, especially in terms of content and new strategies and a lot of personality. Modders have realized this too which is why there are so many good mods on PvZ2! I really do advise checking out mods like AltverZ, which makes PvZ2 designed more like PvZ1, with a lot of its own touches. I also recommend Reflourished, which takes the 2017 version of PvZ2 and expands it, while removing all microtransactions. There are plenty more I can recommend, but those are the two that I have played the most.

I don't know who gave you your info on Battle for Neighborville but 1. It came out in 2019, not this year, and 2. There is no Battle Royale mode of any sort, nor was there any plan to add one at any time during it's short lifetime.

I absolutley loved PVZ as well, but I never got the sequels since I didn't have a phone when 2 came out. And man, after seeing this, I am so glad I didn't download it in the past few years. I was never a fan of multiplayer shooters, so Garden Warfare never interested me (and they completly lack the soul of the original game anyway). The first game will always have a special place to me. Also, Burnout Paradise mentioned 💪

I loved playing GW2 it was my personal favriote from the series. Me and my sister would play it all the time back in 2018. Whenever BFN was released I was excited and played it on Xbox day one. It's a shame that PopCap stopped adding content to the game after a year. BFN was suppose to release new Heros to play in newer updates, and it's a real shame that BFN turned into a cash grab in the end of its life......

Fun Fact: EA had absolutely nothing to do with Plants vs Zombies 2. They didn't interfere with development in any way, shape, or form. PvZ2 as it is rn and as it was at launch was entirely the fault of popcap shooting themself in the foot.

I do agree with you about most of the points you made except for the plant food addiction that the sequel added to the formula it's how the game used it the eclise mod uses it way better I really think you should play it it gets rid of the micro transfers and redesigns the levels pvz2 could have been something special but ea ruined it the core like the new plants zombies world gimmicks are great it's just pvz2 doesn't use them to the best of it's ability

pvz 2 aint really all that bad. i'd say its even better than pvz 1 in some ways. when it was getting constant updates, that was a great time. Its fun to play the entire game without paying for nothing, and the modding potential with it is absolutely amazing. The best vanilla pvz 2 experience is just by getting an old APK of it and playing it like that. Also pvz 3 is really bad, I'm not gonna lie. the garden warfare games are so damn good though they remind me of tf2 in a lot of ways with how goofy it is. BFN is alright, sucks it died not even a year after it was made. I think without EA popcap would've died out and we wouldn't have gotten the third person shooter games. Plus a lot of the mess-ups of the pvz franchise today is really all popcap's fault. I'm incredibly obsessed with this franchise I LOVE IT
