Its exciting to finally be able to plant out. I love your "big nasty" bed. Those potatoes will love it there 🤩

I use a bulb planter to plant potatoes. If the soil is not rock hard then 1, 2, 3, and potatoes are planted.

Hello Tony following advice i am going to attempt growing in the Sylvagrow compost , although you do not rate it , still going to try with my own mixture added . Having put it through my hand's i can say it is black as coal . I found part's of wood , grey clay , i know as my garden is full as i told JB . What other ingredient's there are do not know , not come across any fertiliser pellet's ? I have so far used on French bean's & repotted Tomato plant's , today . Can i say i find it a very dense compost , could be that is why germination it a problem ? As i say i have added my mixture that is simple enough to apply which are just something i have done for year's . Personally i think that aeration might be a factor ? . No 1 waterlogging ? No 2 small root's finding it hard to break through this compost ? I have used some peat compost bought last year , my germination rate is about 90% , except Tomatoes they are about 50%. I am just an ordinary gardiner . I gown in a greenhouse + portable plant pot's due to health + polystyrene boxe's . Peas/Bean's i never use new compost when i replant , i just part the middle then fill with well rotted manure , my thinking is last year's root's might act as a kinda mycorrhizal fungi & the crop's find their way down better ? Though i must add it is with bean's/peas & tomatoes . I do miss Steve he tried new thing's & gave them to the masses , just wish he could stop it raining for a bit . By the way i live in the West Mids . Sorry for the long story , hope you & your KZreadr's find it interesting

Should get loads of spuds in because they are going to be very scarce this year with all the rain. Hardly any planted yet here and the prices are going through the roof. Don't be surprised if you go down one day and someone has liberated yours 😮👍🇮🇪

Am I misremembering or was it once illegal to grow King Edwards at home ? We’re in west coast Canada, ( orig Manchester) picked up Jerseys while visiting last summer. They wouldn’t chit. Someone told us they are treated to prevent this! Maybe that was what they did with K Ed’s. Good show Tone

HI Tony i see that you are using the Equinola horse bedding as a mulch on your beds rather than the Strulch product if you try Mole Country stores they have the product at £10.26 per bale and free delivery on orders over £40.00. They also have a selection of composts as well. I use the horse bedding to mulch by potato pots. Stay strong big fella.
