I just came across your channel and the content is amazing. Salt of the earth God fearing hard working folks are very much appreciated and needed today as always.
I’ve dug potatoes before but never watched them being planted. I was amazed at the way you threw those cuts at the ground and they landed cut side down and just right every time. I think that’s skill!!!!

Being able to toss them in the furrow with the eyes up is an acquired skill. The first time you do it like that you have to walk back down the row and right about half of them. It still beats bending over to plant each individual slip. He is planting a patch too so you learn faster. Have a great day
Love you two! Danny and Wanda- y’all are what makes me proud to be from the south. Hard workers- kind- and proud of life style- you make homesteading real. Thanks for sharing the hard work and not only showing the harvest!

Growing in El Salvador , and traveling from the city to my mother's town , I saw endless plowed fields , I envisioned one day I would have my own piece of land to plow . Moved to the US in 1981 , I've live in the country since day one , just love it . I bought 200 acres of land in Nicaragua , I will retire there , enjoy country living . Thank you for your videos . Much love here for you guys .

I like how your trying to make a sustainable potato just in case you can't buy the seedlings. Awesome you pray over your garden cause the God Lord provides for those who ask. Great thumbs up video.
Beautiful to see a couple work together in harmony , love you guys !
Thanks for the tips. I always use Epson Salts in the garden, especially for peppers and tomatoes. Thanks.
Crazy, I dug my rows and planted exactly as you leaving a small furrow for water runoff. No one told me to, just what I did. 👍
As always tons of great information
God bless you and increase your harvest. We will soon be moving to our home. Not a homestead but in a rural area where I will be able to plant and grow our food. Can’t wait to show you all. I will do my best to apply all I’ve learned watching your channel.
THANK YOU FOR ALWAYS SHARING!!!!!
Danny great accuracy in tossing those potatoes and Wanda handles the rake like a champ!
Got my buckets ready to plant when I get home. All the sprouts looked good to go. Prayers for a bountiful harvest! FILL that tractor bucket up!

I’ve been noticing a lot of our southerner gardeners have been planting root crops in July/ August lately. So many trying to produce as much as possible these days. Have you ever done that? Thoughts?
love your educational videos the best.... each year I pick up a few more pointers that I've either missed or forgotten from last year..... :)
Planting today , just needed a refresher.
Can't believe y'all planting... our ground froze still. We save from year to year, haven't bought tators for the last 4 years... watching you got me itching to garden..
Good vids. Clear. Concise. Easy to follow. Always relaxing watching your vids. Some folks vids are just irritating-- Glad yours aren't!

Using sulphur powder on cut seed potatoes will eliminate seed rot,HIGH YIELD makes sulphur you can buy from store close by.
That will be a dandy “tader” patch like we say here in Kentucky, when I put fertilizer down in the row I take a piece of chain and drag threw the row it does good of incorporating it into the soil. Look forward to see how many ya roll out of the ground this year! God bless

Thanks for the tip on the Epsom Salts, I just might incorporate that in mine this year. I saved back small potatoes from last year to try to do the same thing you are, grow my own seed potatoes. My favorite potato on Earth is Nicola and they are not available locally. I've always bought them online, but the price of them online is scary. Here in central OK I have found that the best time for me to plant is mid March. I planted them Feb 21 four years ago and had to cover 10 rows 75' long of potato plants by hand to keep the plants from freezing. Saved the plants but was not a fun job. Thanks again, excellent video...

Thank you ! I'm in Cincinnati Ohio. I'm gonna try plant small patch potatoes for first time. Its April now but guess it's ok. Just thought I'd try. I'm not a farmer. But I looked up planting by the moon so gonna give it a shot😊 thanks for your videos. I'm from Alabama
Good luck with your crop!
When you cut seed potatoes coat the exposed potato in corn starch. It dries and protects from rotting.
Thank you for sharing
Thanks again for the tip. God bless!
We are going to try the ones left from last year too. They have sprouted better than the years before. I want to see how well your are going to do this year. I'm in Texas zone 8 and we have sandy loam too. Interest to see if there is any difference. I am also planting Red Lasoda and some white potatoes.
Thank you.. I loved your video. Good information
Team work...I love it!!!
Just planted up a nice row here in FL. Added in some Epsom like you said. Thanks a lot for help.
Thank you for the knowledge my brother. Will be joining all the livefeeds. Carpenter Miss.
Great work you two. You mentioned developing your own potato. You are keen on that subject like your Danny corn too. This would be a good topic for a video too. That is some nice looking soil too.
I like the way you made flat beds.
Nice video from Danny & Wanda. I live in Scotland and I'll shortly be planting 40 tubers in my small vegetable patch and probably a couple of dozen more in bags and pots. The variety is Charlotte. This variety was developed in Normandy, France back in 1981. We've grown them a few times and they're a lovely waxy kind of potato, very tasty, great all rounders, nice for salads, or along with anything else you like on your plate. If you can get them Stateside, it's worth giving them a try. They are so yummy!
I sprinkled a wee bit around my pepper plants last year they did awesome.
Loved the video man.. I grew a small bunch in planters last year.
Looking good guys! That's a mess of spuds! Hope for a bountiful harvest! Mine will be going in soon......put 268 onions in the ground over the weekend, sure wish y'all were here to help!

I've got two grown kids I share with and others. I don't grow quite as much as y'all but close. We're still eating plenty of last year's bounty, canned and frozen. Had pink eye peas, potatoes and green beans last night, all canned. Everybody always tells me I grow too much, but this time of year they're glad! :)
This will be my first year planting by the moon phases! I’m an excited to see the comparison. I also plan on planting by the moon for most of the garden but planting at random/out of phase times as well to document.
I love seeing you guys working in your garden sigh, still have snow here and more on the way. Groundhog said six more weeks of winter lol guess I'll have to be patient until then.
It's good to see a couple working together in their garden. My wife and I have gardened since 1981, but just started growing potatoes about five years ago. It makes since for every gardener to grow potatoes if they have the room because people eat potatoes of one sort or another every day. Besides, I don't trust anything you can buy in a grocery store these days, the FDA had failed to keep our food safe. We don't use any pesticides or herbicides in our garden or our kitchen table. We believe in safe food grown by GOD with a little help from us. Thanks for the video.
Thanks for sharing.
Moon planting...love it!!
im gonna have to get mine in this weekend. im in hickory ms. we are really greatful for your videos. we r from ri and the seasons are very different
I wish my raised beds were ready oh well I can wait I’ll work on getting the soil really ready God bless

Gonna add Epsom salt to my Tomatoes 🍅 & The fingerlings I planted back in July, I know it was a big ( IF ) but I'm still Hilling w/ dirt weekly , but wanted to try with prices so high ...Thank you Danny & Wanda, trying to plant things I've never ever planted b4 ..due to prices ....thank u Josette Tharp
I’ve just started watching y’all a few weeks ago when I came across your videos. Y’all are totally awesome teachers, I look forward to seeing new videos pop up but I’m still catching up on all of them. I’m from meridian and several other locations in Mississippi, I’m in Florida for the past three years but moving back the 10 th of feb. can’t wait to break up some ground to start planting a garden. Please never stop teaching us I’m in love with y’all already. I’ve always had gardens and had my hands in the dirt but always learn good things from y’all thank you so much for what your doing. Hi there. Good information. Keep on growing. Have a good day. God bless you you too. 👍👍👍👍🤣😉
planted potatoes for years, and it don't matter if cut side is up potato will still grow.
Potato darts throwing skills 👍
I live in so ms, and we plant our potatoes in early feb. here according to the signs.
Boy you sure got threw that hard winter fast. i better check the almanac for my area planting.
Wow. When i first saw your plot i figured you would be planting with a tractor. Was surprised you did it by hand..nice.
I just discovered something weird. Many farmers, the ones who grow big agribusiness, Monsanto, do not put out gardens to feed themselves and family. They buy their food from the grocery store. I don't know if this is because it would contaminate their garden but am told that many do not know how to grow their own food anymore. If SHTF, American farmers would starve to death. Next time you're out driving somewhere and you see a big farm, look for their garden.
Good work from West Virginia.
Growing my first potatoes 🥔 this year. Planted them about a month ago & so far, so good! I didn’t know about the epsom salt, but I do put egg shells & coffee grounds on the top of my soil. I also chop up banana peals soak them in water & pour the water onto the soil for the same reasons. Also cinnamon has many uses for my soil & plant health. I haven’t tried it, but I hear you can put sardines in the hole before you plant 🌱 for fertilizer too.
@DeepSouthHomestead

Be aware if you use sardines wild animals may dig them up.
You don’t mess around... wow

Just refreshing my memory. Talking about an LCE, little did you know it would happen the following year 🙄😁💝
Ya'll make a good team!
I’m like Dolly, I never met a spud I don’t like! My table would be a much sadder place without them!
You're right about having seed potatoes that are right for a certain climate. Nothing like getting to eat freah vegetables from your own garden.
Thank you for the tips about moon phase and magnesium. I'm planting taters from store bought ones that accidentally sprout. IDK if they're the right ones for my zone but going to try anyway.
Great potatoe eyes
I like the way you think
I am hoping that you will have successful potato crop this fall!
So your magnesium sulfate application rate is 1 Lb/100 SF = .01 lb/SF = 4.5 g/SF. If your seed potatoes are planted 1 ft apart in your row, that means you can put an equal amount of mg sulfate for 100 seed potatoes (so 1 lb per 100 ft of planted row). Personally, I'd scatter in above each seed potato after they are covered with soil, rather than scattering it in a line as you did. If you apply it around each seed potato, you'd apply 4.5 g/each seed potato (which is about 1/2 teaspoon of mg sulfate per seed potato).
If you do cut them, dip the cut area into hydrated lime and give them a couple days to get a dryer surface then plant.
