Gorgeous George ! #excusethepun 😆😜 It looks GREAT 👍 👌

It has to be rummy nose tetras or neon tetras. Although I think the neons (big shoul) would really compliment that colour of discus

The ammonia/nitrite and especially the nitrates are more deadly at that temperature aswell George 👍

Hell I am considering taking the "beast" out of my storage and finding a home for it and setting it up. The beast was originally set up as saltwater , then converted to freshwater set up. The beast is a 200 gallon tank , stand , canopy , lights , filtration all in an unused closet in my basement. It takes up an entire wall. So have to figure out where to place it
Truly love this video and the sequence you put it in! Music is spot on as well. The master has rocked it again! Love how you always catch yourself saying your rambling.... I don’t consider it that but even so full of information. I am a better scaper today thanks to you! Thank you for this wonderful video, beautiful scape, information, and of course your wonderful book!
Awesome set up George! I come to your channel for inspiration and you never disappoint. Happy Holidays to you and yours.
Thanks George. Wonderful to see this tank at last. Gorgeous fish. You enjoy them for all of us who can't own them and we'll just watch on admiringly. My favourite fertiliser is Osmacote for ponds. I only add it underground every 6 months and the plants definitely tell me when they need more and respond quickly. It's only a new tank and I'm sure the plants will appreciate a helping hand until the biofilm bulds. Enjoy and thanks again for your videos and devotion to this channel. Regards Matt
Awesome tutorial. Thanks for putting the video together in such detail, the aquascape looks great!
Stunning tank and the discus are absolutely gorgeous!!
I really liked you comment that scraping should be purposefully and deliberate. Also, it is therapeutic. It has helped me personally. Great looking fish, awesome tank, and amazing video. Thank you...
Your book is great, George. Lots of great tips and ideas. I also like this tank and the discus are exactly what I would choose. They are beautiful. My 110 gallon is on its way. Mine will have a rim. But I am making my own cabinet. The basic 2X4 skeleton is finished. It's all deck screws and waterproof wood glue. It will have a stained red oak outside part of which will be structural to help with the cross stresses. It will have an end cabinet as well as the central part like yours but it will have a sump filter. It will be SA themed with Apistos, Angels, Rams, Tetras, Pencils, Corys and Hatchets, some shrimp and snails. Most of my equipment will be American made. All the best, George and keep up the good work.
Thank you for your honesty. The bigger fish have different needs and you succeeded because you care. Very nice tanks for them..
Great to see you George. The fish look great and I'm happy for you. Happy holidays to you and yours👍🌿
Love to see it! Discus are looking great George!👌🏻
Great job George. I'm about to get back into discus and paid very close attention to your very well described process.
Another amazing video George! i have been looking forward to this one for a while! I really hope to keep discus one day!
The plant and discus combination are great , loved it
Finally someone who is talking about the oase premium lighting!!
Brilliant content George I am in the process of setting up a discus tank as well and this does inspire a planted tank Welldone 👏🏾👏🏾
Looks great George, they are wonderful pets. Look forward to getting the book in the post. Take care.
Incredible setup, George. Thanks for sharing it with us. Cheers.
Stunning discus fish George, I have around 40 cardinal tetras in with my discus and they look amazing! I have a planted tank also running CO2 with the temp around 28.5-29.4•C depending on overnight temps!

How big is your aquarium? And how many discus? I’m trying to setup a tank as well and was wondering what i can get away with
Discus are my all time favorite tropical fish. Beautiful set up.
Morning George! Thanks it was a long one in the making, but well worth the wait! Ja Discus aren’t the easiest fish to keep but all so rewarding when you get it right eventually for me! Awesome tips on the hole process from start to end! I have learned a few things like every video i wacth on your channel! Thanks man keep them coming! Cheers mate
This is a great video. Thanks for making it. I really liked how you went through the hardscaping process 🐠👍😁
The tank an the fish look amazing! I would add some corydoras, perhaps sterbai (my favorites), to hoover up any leftover food and a large school of Cardinal tetras. The reds and blues in tetras will compliment the reds and blues in your discus really beautifully, I think. Looking forward to seeing the tank mature over the time now. It is probably going to become one of my favourite tanks on KZread of all times! I shall be eagerly waiting for updates. My only very slight criticism would be about the fast moving floating plants. As useful as they are, visually in my opinion, they slightly spoil the tranquillity of the slow and calming energy of the discus. What a super video! Thank you for sharing your experiences- the bad and the good :)
Love the aquascape my brother thank you so much for all your information and all your knowledge may God continue to bless you on your journey in life be safe
Just finished watching George, awesome video really informative about the products and equipment used and a great scape with some beautiful fish 😊👍💚
Stunning fish and great set up - truly inspirational!
That is my dreamtank to have in my home one day. It looks nice and those discus look stunning
How beautiful. I've conquered just about every tank I've ever wanted....except a planted discus tank, which from what I've heard, is incredibly challenging. After installing my wall reef tank, my financial advisor (better known as my wife), I've been cut-off, at this point...lol. So, I'll just have to live vicariously through you. Outstanding job, George!
Gorgeous tank man! I really love it, I need to give mine a make-over so this is good inspiration 👌😍
I must say it is nice to finally see a tank where the fish are the emphasis don’t get me wrong I love the look of everything you do. But for me the fish will always be the star of the show and this tank is beautiful
Love your aquascaping tutorial videos. Real inspiration!!!
Thank you for this helpful and fantastic video. Wow those fish are so beautiful. Congrats for this amazing work 👍👌
Such a beautiful job you have done on this aquarium and home you have established for the discus (and shrimp 😄) I think blue-eyed golden congo tetras would be gorgeous additions as a shoal of dither fish for the discus!! Looking forward to your future videos on this setup!
Great tutorial George, thanks. Have been looking forward to watching this as I have a Oase Highline 400 on order for my first Discus tank. I will be using a Biomaster 850 Thermo &. thinking of getting a second one in order to ensure optimal filtration & have a back-up if one failed. Sounds like a tense couple of days settling in the fish!! They look fantastic though.
Awesome tank George, i love it ! For additional fish i would keep it simple. A small school of Corydora Sterbai. They tolerate the higher water temperature. Red Beckford Pencil fish. Nice dither fish with contrasting colours from the Discus fish. And something else as Tetras. Not sure if you want algae eaters. But i have an Albino Butterfly Bristlenose Ancistrus. When it swims through the tank it looks majesticly with the long fins.
They're beautiful. I was thinking about using Discus this year... and now I may have to really hunt some down.
Tank looks great George I’ve got the same tank had it about 2 months now love it.I have a 850 and a 600 filter and find it gives me a really good circulation and not had any algae issues so you might want to upgrade the 250 later , again you tank and the fish look great 👍
Thanks for this video ... You inspired me to start planning my first discus tank ever
Another great video George! Who doesn’t want discus after this video! Thank you for helping me get the aquascaping bug! I really would love to see a big school of cardinal tetras! Or black neons?!
Nice work George. You're one of the greats buddy!
Hi George, Firstly I would like to thank you on another great vlog. My choice for other fish would be Corydoras Sterbai to aid your Amano Shrimp in cleaning the substrate and for a shoaling fish I would go with Cardinal Tetras or Rummy Nose Tetras. Looking forward to watching the progression of this already gorgeous aquarium 👍
Beautiful tank (I really like the wier). I also adore your taste in Discus, and your scape is beautiful as always. My personal bias would be a sump over the canister, but that is simply preference (influenced from marine systems). It's lovely, well done
I love that George shows work "in progress". He shows us algae issues with new set-ups and other problems. It is not great when people just do a big reveal of something that is already perfect. When you have a problem, but know that "oh that happened to George" people will stay engaged and not throw in the towel.
I have just set up my first ever aqua cape tank after following you on your channel, it’s a 4ft tank mid tach no co2 yet, so far following your brilliant information on setting up everything has gone well, had the standard staghorn algorithm but now on top with liquid carbon , and frets , would love you to open up a section where subscribers can send in a video of tank for your comments , as you say loving it so far and keep scapeing
You’ve done it again George! Great job! How about a massive group of embers.....? Nice contrast with the blue and the black background would pop. Or, rummy nose.
Tank looks fantastic stick with it george it will be worth it in the end 😁👍
Awesome video and great colour choice for the discus. I love the scape and wish you luck with this setup. Really stunning. I think a rummy nose tetra would pop against the black background.
Sweet setup! Tank and fish are stunning!😊
I really love this George. The scape is gorgeous and the fish a drop dead gorgeous. I’m really envious and hope one day I might have a beautiful tank like yours. Thanks for the warts and all video 🐠 and I thought maybe Congo Tretra’s.
Nice to see this complete video. A very huge commitment this tank with these fish! I understand there is plenty reasons to get my temperature a bit down. My experience with the bleheri is that the stems tend to grow to absurd length before the leaves start. The leaves also are less long but more compact and coming out of the water... Makes me wonder if I actually had Bleheri in my tank?
Heyah George, nice vid on the whole process mate. Very enjoyable 🌱
Great video, love the Discuss tank
A beautiful aquarium, George! I love the idea of lemon tetras with your discus. I think it would be a great color combination! I would probably add some corydoras, too. Maybe orange laser? That might be more bio load than you feel comfortable with, though. It’s always a balance! Can’t wait to see what you add next!
“Welcome to this special video..its all about my new pair of glasses...” :p well they suit you better than the old pair I must say. Thats definitely a tank to look upto as it strikes a sweet balance between plant and discus keeping. I think a few e.parviflorus tropicas(they tend to form a perfect semispherical shape as they grow) will add interest to flat foreground. Regarding the fish selection, I think a shoal of diamond or platinum tetras will look great against that black background and in contrast with reds and blues on discus. Mature diamonds have a wonderful sparkly luster thats hard to ignore. A suggestion for algae on anubias leaves...they are pretty tough as you mentioned, I use a soft plastic scrub or black coarse spong with good pressure to get rid of gsa(which is way tougher than diatoms). That can be quickly done over a session of water change easily, best part they turn out spotless clean.
Awsome tank good luck with the plants very hard to keep in a discus tank and keep your eye on the brown algae
I got myself oase thermo filter, partially thanks to your recommendation, and I must admit I am quite happy with it so far. When it comes to their tank, i am not that impressed. It is good to see you pushing your limits, George, both fish and equipment-wise. Planted discuss tank is on my bucket list but I have my doubts about mixing both. Great that you try it yourself and we can watch as you took this journey and learn form your successes and mistakes along the way. Looking forward to Season 2 of your podcast as well.
My Mrs is concerned that I pay more attention and look more lovingly at George Farmer 's videos and my 2 tanks more than I do her... she's probably right!
Nice tank, beautiful fish, excellent presentation, just waiting on my new tank to arrive from Germany, so I may emulate your ideas. Without doubt your companion fish have to be cardinals.
Wow bro this was an amazing video i love an u answered all the questions i was going to ask u in the comments well done its a beautify of an aquarium i think its my favorite...also i think cherry barbs with go amazingly with the black background
Beautiful tank George, to be honest I wouldn’t add any other fish. Great job, looking forward to see those crypts grow in.
Gorgeous. Hope you’re cracking on with the podcast season 2 😜
Beef heart is the best to feed. I use to mix a little garlic into the mix to aid digestion and other bits. Great work George ☺️
Very beautiful tank I enjoyed seeing it. Thank you ❤️
You asked for fish suggestions. I keep a large school of cardinal tetras in my planted discus tank. The schooling activity is fun to watch when the discus swim by. I also like otocats in the tank. They will eat algae off of plant leaves
Nice tank! I have a 6ft planted discus tank and a large school of rummy nose tetras work well to clean up the food mess in the water column. I can push water changes out to once every two weeks (handy for when I go away). Unfortunately anything smaller (like a neon tetra) might end up being expensive discus food.
Was gf best video..love the transparency..great job
A really beautiful tank as usual! I really love the classics, meaning cardinal tetras, maybe a pair of GBR (if possible from a local hobby breeder, the majority from big sellers is inbred and messed up) and a lot of C. sterbai. In my experience you will have to remove the soil and use fine sand. Discus are producing tons of detritus and it's almost impossible to vacuum the soil. Swords are doing fine in sand but I would add some NPK clay balls to the roots (most root sticks contain only micronutrients which don't help that much). Having the fertilizer in the sand makes liquid fertilizer obsolete which reduces the algae problem (at 28°C and above algae grow like crazy). Nevertheless, an amazing aquarium!
Stunning as per George!
Amazing as always George x
I can totally understand your stress George, BUT hey you got there and this is going to be a super stunning setup when it all falls into place and matures nice and slowly, and how knows maybe you will have some baby farmer discus in the future.
No shoal fish, discus serenity is unique, I miss mine. Absolutely my favorite fish. Don’t have a tank anymore, but you got me flying back to memory lane when you said how intelligent they are. They were real pets to me, recognized me, actually scared of strangers and they felt better when I was around them. Very costly fish though, I wish they were less high maintenance, but again, absolute stunners you got there.
They are stunning mate, tanks looking awesome....as for fish Beckford’s Pencilfish are something a bit different from tetras, I’m sure whatever you choose will look great 👍🏼
Beautiful tank. Love the scape. Other fish to consider are Corydoras sterbai for cleanup and cool factor. At least 12 for that tank. For a free swimming fish I love the old standard of Cardinal tetra. The blue stripe would go good with the beautiful Discus you have. If you wanted something else, rummy nose tetras would just glow in that tank. Just because they are common doesn't mean they are not spectacular.
Cardinal tetras are good fishes to consider. They do well with Discus and do well with higher water temperature.
Your book was amazing!
എന്നാ ഒരു പൊളി ലുക്ക് ആ മീനും ടാങ്കിനും ജോർജേട്ടാ 😍😍❤️
Love your book george.. oh I also found a few typos..lol.. keep doing a great job. Love your tanks..
George, looks fantastic. I have also had Stendker discus - great quality. Maybe you could add cardinal tetras or rummy nosed tetras in a shoal
The tank looks fantastic George, and I really enjoyed the video. Lots of corydoras duplicareas would be good if they can take the temperature. The p1 dosing pump is so easy to use. Please make a set up video of it. There isnt any decent ones on you tube.
In Singapore where i am living, water temp is constantly 28-29 degree C. It seems like what you have mentioned is so true as my 3 month old 80% planted tank give a lot of organic waste, not to mention waste from the fishes. Having doing 50-60% water change weekly seems to be not enough as the dust and other algae keeps coming back. I will try more freq water change to see if helps or not. Oh as for shoaling fishes, bigger tetra like congo tetra might be a good choice.
Great detailed video. Beautiful fish and aquascape 💚 Black neons or emperor tetras 💚
Pure, pure white Dwarf Angel's in a happy 20 - 30 plus shoul! Against all the Black Back Ground and the Amazing Discus would look stunning. I'm now depressed, I have seen the tank and fish that dreams are made of.... but, I'll never have but hey I can carry on dreaming eh with my small tank and 3 Fancy Goldfish! You are such a lucky guy, take care my friend 👍😷👍 BIG THUMBS-UP ALL DAY AND NIGHT LONG 👍😷👍I've really enjoyed every second.
Beautiful. I going to vote for cardinal tetras... a species, along with discus, that I might not ever keep, so I can live vicariously through your scape! Cheeri-O! - Little Bobby
Gorgeous fish!! Just great!!
Rummynose tetras would be a great, complimentary 2nd fish. Tank looks great. You’re right “high line” needs low iron, high-clarity glass. Hope that’s available before they release in the USA.
Your discus are stunning! One of these days I will try my hand at keeping discus. They are beautiful fish. The aquascape looks good. I can see the vision. Once the plants grow in some more it will be beautiful. As for other fish, I think Congo Tetras are gorgeous, but they might get too large. I have the X-ray Tetra (Pristella maxillaris). Mine are slightly yellow in color with a translucent body. I think they would look good with the discus. Their coloration is simple and would not clash with the discus. The black skirt tetra (Gymnocorymbus ternetzi) might also look nice because of its black and white coloration. You see I'm going for fish with simple colors. The discus are the stars. Have you considered getting a few German blue rams (Mikrogeophagus ramirezi)? They would love the discus tank temperature. Love the socks. Happy holidays to you and your family. Pet Tommy for me. :-)
Hi George, great video on a great looking tank. Love the Discus. I would love to see a huge shoal of Asian Rummynose in there , the colours would complement the Discus, and a shoal of Sterbei cories hoovering around the bottom. Sorry I’ve not been active on the channel for a while. All the best , Martin
Discus really do well in higher temperatures. I live in a tropical country and have discuss in a tank outdoors. Water temperature is 30~ on average. I feel like some nerites will be beneficial, and maybe you can try keeping some bamboo shrimp.
Rimless looks so much better
Love this. I think Diamond tetra would be a stunning contrast to the discus.

Yes!
Great video!! I would add pencilfishes : Nannostomus marginatus or beckfordi..Great fish and i kept them with succes with my discus in the past..
24:23 You should get bristlenose plecos for the algae, corydoras catfish as bottom feeders to eat the leftover beefheart, and cardinal tetras and rummynose tetras as dither fish (they have a calming effect on the discus).
Your videos are so peaceful. This my brain reset channel
Hi George, You truly outdid yourself on this video, I have now watched it 5 times, it is majestic, beautifully shot but at the same time brutally honest and being open to the struggles with the fish , showing the algae challenges etc and it not being perfect. It is a stunning work of art that will only get better congrats !! I aspire to a discus tank to add to my existing 3 scapes and thank you for your inspiration.
Lemon tetra ehhhh 😏 saw that sneaky addition 😂 really lovely peaceful scape this one 🙌🏻
Beautiful fish... TY for sharing. From Norway.Anja
Your tanks are always stunning George and such an inspiration to us fish lovers ! How about some Apistogramma to add even more color and activity in there ? Aloha from Oahu, Hawaii. 🤙🏼
Beautiful scape and discus
Lovely scape! I actually kinda like the look of the scape with the discus by themselves, so I’d consider a group of corydoras since they’ll occupy the bottom mostly and not take too much attention away from the discus. Otherwise, lemon tetras would look nice as their yellow color contrasts well with the blue discus plus they can take higher temperatures.
