Great analysis, It would be a shocker if Plant beat Benavidez but I see it possible too, only I Think he lacks the offensive qualities for that. But Plant is very underestimated imo & this will probably be a long & hard fight, which I do think Benavidez will win eventually, but not easily. I still hope Plant pulls it off tho. His attitude & work he puts in is great too. We'll probably see the best version of both fighters here, gonna be real good fight.

@@ronaldtoran4332 okay wtf r u talking about lmao. 1) Plant does throw more jabs than Benavidez bc that’s just his style (he’s a boxer mover and Benavidez is a squared up pressure fighter!) 2) Gems never said “Benavidez has no fundamentals” he says he breaks fundamentals, which is not inherently bad! Julio Cesar Chavez, Canelo, and Muhammad Ali all broke fundamentals to great success. But, just like everything in boxing, breaking fundamentals has its trade offs. Benavidez breaks fundamentals in ways that leave him vulnerable sometimes. Doesn’t mean he has no boxing iq Lmaoo… 3) Okay. Gems never once said Benavidez has “no jab”. Benavidez has a spear jab that is often effective. Tf r u talking about?

These are words of wisdom from a former champion. Millions watch boxing, but only a few understand the game. Styles make fights, and that's why I, as a fan of the sport, don't care about a fighter's record, but I want to see what a boxer can do in the ring. That's why boxing is about different styles, fights, and outcomes.
I think Benavidez would approach this fight WITHOUT respecting Plants power, he'll try to constantly walk him down to force Plant on the backfoot or corner him on the ropes. The high guard style will open up opportunities for bodyshots and uppercuts up the center for Plant tho. The main issue I see for Plant is during exchanges. Staying too long in the midst of a fury of exchanges can open up more offensive opportunities for Benavidez. He's also going to use his physicality throughout this fight. I think this fight is going to boil down to 2 main things: 1. Physical conditioning (which also affects punch resistance) 2. Punches landed (which will affect the scoring) I think this fight goes 12 rounds
@mrgrandi
Жыл бұрын
@@ronaldtoran4332 just to put it into perspective Bivol stated in an interview that Canelo hits harder than both Zurdo and Benavidez! Zurdo however hits harder than Benavidez. Plant fought Canelo (who was confirmed to be a much harder puncher). Plant was able to box Canelo for 11 rounds before he got caught. In other words he definitely showed his defensive prowess facing an elite puncher like Canelo. That's why I said the fight is going to boil down to 2 things, physical conditioning and punches landed. Whoever comes in better shape would be able to keep up their gameplans more consistently whether it's Plant with his movement, defense and counters or Benavidez with his pressure and punch output. The clean punches landed would be the next significant factor because whoever lands more would accumulate to more of an effect. Plant was able to use his slick defense to elude Canelo for 11 rounds so Benavidez who is less of a puncher would have to do alot to catch Plant clean.

@@ronaldtoran4332 punches landed do indeed matter, that's why they have "punch stats". If you understand boxing you would know that there are 4 main criteria in which bouts are scored ie: 1. Punches landed 2. Effective aggression 3. Ring generalship, and 4. Defense. The points are calculated accordingly taking into consideration, knockdowns, warnings, fouls, willingness to engage etc. These are things I expect anyone who really follows boxing to know. As for Benavidez, do you really believe he hits harder than Canelo?? I would believe the opinion of the guy who ACTUALLY fought him instead of some random guy in my youtube comments.

I have a feeling caleb wins on points. He wont be there for benevidez to hit him. He just needs to jab stick and move for 12nds and hell win. His focus needs to be 100% the entire fight or bena will take advantage. Where i think the canelo point is true canelo is much smaller than plant. Bena and plant are the same size. I honestly think it comes down to caleb. We know benevidez is coming. Caleb has to be on point for 12 rnds. Does he have it in him to last 12??? Well only find out the night of. If he does he wins.

Magnificent work my men, this fight will be really good. Also based in your study it's clear that if Plant keeps too much time in the ropes will be his end but in the other hand if Plant can box controlling the distance and use combinations up and down Benavidez will have big issues cutting the ring and then he will be frustrated. Maybe if that happend all will see a disarmed and erratic version of Benavidez trying to put Plant on the ropes and been outboxed. Idk, can't wait for this fight. Excellent! Thank you for validating what I was seeing with David. Caleb got the skills to pull it off but can he stay away from his bad habits that got him knocked out and fight a perfect fight? If he can do that he might score a knock down and prevail on points. After I saw him knock out the Dog I can say he does have the power to put David down. I've never seen anyone go to davids body steadily yet, it's waiting to be exploited. He walks squared up in a high guard LOL Errol would destroy that boys body! LOL! great analysis. My feel is Plant will make it competitive through 7 or 8 rounds before he starts to get worn down. I'm not convinced he either has the stamina to stick and move the whole fight against a volume stalking powerful fighter like Benavidez, or the power to keep him at bay, in spite of Benavidez's weaknesses you noted. Should be a fun fight and I dont have a horse in the race, so my head says Benavidez with a late TKO victory, my heart says I'm starving for more fights like this to look forward to. Just loved this. The foot work thing I think is key. Plant constantly turning him and stealing on B on the turns is a recipe for winning for Plant I think. That and not showboating. I think the body shots will be there, but you need to disguise it some…but look for the liver shot. That stops almost anyone. The Monster and The Matrix both have that down and if I were Plant’s team I’d really be working on that. B is not going to be hard to find and if he hasn’t changed his game the body should be there all night. Get in get out reset repeat with variations on the theme. All that said B is a beast… and all this is easier said than done. And Plant was stopped by Canelo. So that doesn’t bode well for him. I think B hurts him at some point and stops him. Plant can win, but needs to fight a perfect fight or land a perfect Derrell punch. If it goes past 9 I think b catches him late and it’s a repeat of Canelo.

@@megaunknown400 Look at Plant's coordination, how he moves. He's also blessed with a lot of fast twitch muscle, judging by his quickness. Then there's that balance he has, and he has great reflexes. He's just a natural athlete. A guy like Plant most likely could've competed at a high level in other sports. It just so happens that he chose boxing. Having said that, being the better athlete doesn't automatically make you the better fighter. We've seen that many times in boxing. Plant is probably a better athlete overall compared to Canelo. If you let them both compete in a number of different sporting events, like for example decathlong, soccer, mountain biking, snowboarding, swimming, and speed skating, I'd pick Plant over Canelo to win most. But in the boxing ring, Canelo won.

Been waiting on this one! Super good breakdown! People assume that just because Canelo got Plant out of there, that David can. Canelo had the right style for the job, and was able to close the distance by keeping his head low, and keeping it moving, while taking advantage of that Body Opening and Countering opportunities. Who Knows if David could even do that because he simply doesn't have the footwork to do it! And like you said too, he Squares himself up a LOT. That's a BIG No-No at the Elite Level. I got Plant on Points as well! I think David can Thump but it isn't this monstrous power that everyone thinks it is.

Love your Channel by far some of the best boxing analysis, I would love to see you do analysis on some of the successful awkward Fighters like Aaron Pryor or navarrete.
