Hey just a heads up, you can use the door camera like a fiber optic cam and use it to peek around corners, similar to SWAT 4. Don't know if you're aware of that functionality, and its a very useful thing to have in your toolkit.

you just changed the game for me lol I had no idea. Fixing to use this so much.
We know you'd have an outer cordon to prevent squirters and counter attacks if it was an option. At least some drone coverage. Surely we all got screwed by that. That was smooth CQB in the compound and blowing through the wall on the northern approach instead of using the gate is a class idea. Such a good game, particularly understanding angles. If geometry was taught using this, pretty sure it would be more popular... Maybe... Slightly.

I got lucky and did this with CIA first. idk what the trigger for the reinforcements is, but I still had two guys in stealth and two not yet in combat when they arrived, so the were met with a rain of grenades.

@@Gnagniel That's interesting, if you're still undercover maybe they just arrive at a preset time and they aren't reacting to contact. Nice to know someone had the drop. 😁 I was caught in a similar position to CP, with four guys outgunned in the funnel.
Honestly thought Spartan was gonna come in clutch. RIP the bois, but it got done in the end. Also, I'm sure the guy at 22:24 loved the hot brass spewing at his face & down his shirt collar courtesy of the machinegunner lmao

I played this mission today, and I went with double SAWs down south with my 4-man assault team north, after I also got whooped by that counterattack. That civilian behind the counter in the store up north is kind of unfortunate and weird, he was taking cover behind the counter how did anyone hit him? It happened on my attempt too. I ended up clearing the northern building first and holding down both alleys, then did the southern building to capture the VIP. P.S. the enemy at 21:03 had a SVD. Your guy didn't just one tap anyone, he did a sniper!

for anyone still trying to beat this: what Pairs did here is doable and gets you through, but to get 3 stars I recommend spawning all 6 guys down south, with 2 MGs or 1 each MG and marksman taking the lead, with one of the 4 remaining guys carrying a wall shot. Once you clear the intersection and anyone coming out of the store north (or even in the process of that) you can put the wall charge on the left side window of the room facing your spawn, breach and get in from there. the hvt should be in the room to its left or is trying to run out the front door, but you can catch him if you are fast enough. Be sure to pull security on the other building and the front door, if all goes well this can be done within 1 minute (for Clock Race) and maybe even Clean Run
Those nades in the beginning of the final run... Suppressor update winning strat: VIOLENCE OF ACTION
I played this a while ago, and after many failed attempts, I finally said to hell with it and just fragged EVERYTHING. Many civilians died that day, but I got the guy and cleared the whole map.

Ayye thanks my dude!
Damn you threw a hail of grenades in that last attempt. I love your videos Controlled Pears. They helped teach me a lot about CQB!
Played this few weeks ago-- This mission was intense (reinforcements) arrived immediately. Watching CP'S approach... Yup. @ 18:04 the QRF issue had me restart this mission, leave x2 man security TOP with wall breach / frag combo to suppress on "Delta". Watching remaining CP's run... Well done on final run. I think my final run focused south w/ primary through window w/ secondary HE saturation to north upon QRF arrival in support of "Delta" security response.
To quote Willem Dafoe from The Boondock Saints. “There was a FIREFIIIIIIGHT!!!!!!!” Also remember that no plan survives contact with the enemy.

Love when you watch me play door kickers.
I want you to do a live range video where you demonstrate some of the principles of CQB on a range with actual guns.
when I first played this level I was testing the rocket launcher, so when the enemy backup appeared in the north they ended up eating a RPG.
Oof. Yeah, this one caught me off guard too. An absolutely massive enemy QRF. From a gameplay aspect it's a little bit bullshit that they show up that early on the short street. I was expecting the counterattack (if there was one at all) from the long axis, since it would make sense that your troops might have noticed a bunch of armed MAMs before they were 25m away. Also, from a troops available standpoint, I usually roleplay that I've got the rest of the platoon on security in order to explain the lack of men in the assault force. If I had the rest of the platoon pulling security for the snatch and grab, you'd think the north and south would be covered, most dangerous route for the enemy to reinforce from would be the east, since there's no friendly forces to give you a warning. Anyways, luckily for me I had a SAW gunner and grenadier in the south team. Unfortunately I still took two casualties. One from the northern security team and my breacher setting up a slap on the gate. I tried a low violence approach to start, but when the counterattack showed up we turned it to 10. Supply had to order a couple more crates of hand grenades after this mission. I think the best play might be to use a wall charge on that southern room of the compound. You can clear it from the outside and make sure you're not pasting the HVT. That would give you a high speed, low risk entry into the compound. I loved the absolute earth-shattering violence of action the second time around. RIP any civvies, but I'm fairly certain they're programmed to run into fire. I've had several times they've left perfectly good closets or counters and ran into active MG fire. I was really worried about a polish ambush situation too, so my southern team cleared the north-south road. When they called up the clear, it was the trigger for the northern team to seize those defensive positions in the crossroads and isolate the objective via the east-west road. Of course that counter attack happened right as the #1 man was coming out of cover...
Executed to perfection as always. Love the camerawork at the end, really made it into a beautiful video, it's just so sad the magnificent music you used couldn't quite fit in for the entire mission but still, lovely work :)
That final run though! Pure domination, wow!
I've watched your vids for as long as I can remember and you've made me wanna get this game so bad! Just need the computer!
Subscribed- loving this series please keep up the good work! The mission generator allows for an infinite number of different scenarios to discuss.
I always wanted to ask this: is there defensive CQB tactics? I mean obviously you should try to remove/ reduce the speed, violence of action and surprise of the attacker, but is there doctrine about the topic??

I think I remember some kind of WWII manual that detailed this? It was mostly camouflage in urban environments but CQB basically entailed creating barriers in corners that the enemy will be exposed to, as well as hiding in unconventional spots for ambushes.

23:38 for those of you looking for CPG's newest single "Alpha, Go" (Hands Behind Your Back remix) ft. Yung Drummer
really enjoyed the tactical analysis of the battlefield on this one keep up the good work!!
That was mental! I have only done that mission with the CIA team… vastly different!
It took me ages to figure this one out. I had the guys up top smoke where you did, and have them peak with a camera, then had guys with LMGs spray through the smoke to kill the guys up top. Had a guy at the bottom with an RPG to blow up the door you tried to torch, pretty easy smash and grab from there
I'd probably have chosen to enter through the southern windows rather that long alley into the compound. I seem to recall that what I actually did was have a CIA field officer reconoiter the compound till he made contact with the HVI, double-tap another buddy in the room with a Hushpuppy, and then use some Ground Branch black ops ninjas to cover a quick egress.
22:05 Getting Palpatine vibes. Unlimited firepower!
Was really hoping you'd zoom in on the insurgent QRF catching those duel crew serves.
Gotta love the "Rangers" who can't shoot a couple guys on the other side of that car lol. Great video, just got unlucky with the game.
Well, I've watched every single DK2 vid on the channel now. The more I watch, the more I think how awesome a post-apoc survival settlement management game with this kind of tactical combat would be. You go around, entering buildings looking for food, meds, materials, equipment and other supplies to keep your small settlement of survivors going. Rescuing or capturing people to recruit them into your colony. The whole zombie thing is a bit over played in survival games, plus it removes guns from the enemies. So I'm maybe thinking Alien Invasion gone wrong. They destroyed most of mankind, but got nuked in the process and are now just as stuck in the ruins as we are. Or a Terminator Style robots have overthrown humanity situation. Plus human enemy Raider/Slaver types and other groups that are just trying to survive themselves.
I like the little detail of the AKs falling on the ground at 23:36. Also only one civilian casualty despite nuking that street.
I used cia on this map, even though you are limited in 4 operators instead of 6, the recon advantage is huge as you can set undercover operators that can let you know of threats that may be flanking. My plan was to discreetly send one black ops to the middle building and clear it through stealth, synchronized witg smokes down the main street and then rushing the windows in the bottom building and then clear the rest out with flashes, under cover ops redeploys smoke to let you exfiltrate. You could really tell this map was made for cia.
Loving how you’re cqb tactics don’t just apply to gunfights
Hells yeah! Nice to see pairs doing pairs in real life! Gitchusum!
The replay was badass, well done! It's not the easiest map.
That counter attack was brutal.
Lol holy crap man. Fuck that extraordinarily fucky fatal funnel through the locked gate can't believe you took it on. I was using two riflemen to watch up north with the sandbag cover and had my assaulters pop through the window.

its scary how good your eval was
Man i want to play this game so bad it’s not on Mac yet , door kickers 1 is still sick though
Heh, I did this with 2 CIA Black Ops guys, threw smokes in the main road, blew out the windows on the lower structure of the compound with an RPG, cleared out the building, grabbed the HVT, smoke the main road again , and escape.
If you like shooting, have you checked out Desert Brutality from Forgotten Weapons/InRange TV? Would be awesome to see you running events like that, if you're interested!
That main hallway clearing was buttery smooth on ingress and egress with HVI. The initial attack was some seriously controlled chaos. #FindFixFinish

Controlled Pairs Gaming that mission deserved a 30mm cannon rounds from a AH-64 Apache and not a normal CQB Assault IMHO! 🤣
Not a pro, but i think the best thing would have been to replace one guy at the bottom with a marksman and have him control the bottom-top axis before opening your two operator on the top. Then once you control this axis your MG could move to dominate left/right axis while riflemen enter the south compound.
Anyone know how too angle the camera down like he did. I’ve looked and looked for videos and stuff but nothing.

Look-up benefits of 'c-clamp', and you'll answer your own question
I'm of the opinion that specialized CQB weapons trade a lot of flexibility for not too much advantage, and door-kickers really amplifies this. For one, the main disadvantage of a long gun (it announcing your presence around corners and getting snagged on things) doesn't seem to be modelled in door-kickers. The main advantage of shorter weapons in CQB is general increased maneuverability, but in door-kickers this doesn't usually matter since you're usually doing methodical clearing in tight quarters, where a 5-10% change in speed matters very little. Put a pin in that. In addition to not modeling the real-life advantages of short-guns, Doorkickers also heavily amplifies their disadvantage. In real life, a CQB Rifle would have no trouble reaching out and touching the enemy at 30-50 meters away. It's not until over 100 meters that you would start to see drawbacks, a distance rarely modelled in Doorkickers. Yet in this scenario, the Mk18 is very anemic at engaging cross-map. So you're trading stopping power and accuracy for a slight mobility upgrade, but the only time mobility really matters in this game is when crossing a large linear danger area, and if the map is big enough that you have to cross a large linear danger area, you're probably engaging enemies at a distance where a shorter CQB gun is not going to be effective. In conclusion, long-guns are always the superior option in Doorkickers. There's really no reason to pick anything other than the M16 or M4 for your assaulters. I mostly stick to the TO&E of an (assaulter) TL armed with an M4, a grenadier armed with an M16/M203, a SAW gunner, and an (assaulter) rifleman armed with an M16 and AT4. If I have two fireteams, then I swap out one of the rifleman for a designated marksman armed with an M14. Each fireteam carries frags, smokes, and two wall-charges (one with the SAW and one with the Grenadier.) In particularly tight quarters, I may give the Grenadier an M4, but I usually keep my rifleman on an M16 no matter what, so that someone in each fireteam can take cross-map shots. I give everyone a combat optic. Sometimes its tempting to go straight assaulter, but given that grenadiers, DMRs, and SAWs can still assault in a pinch, I've never regretted having more options.

Appreciate the detailed trained of thought. As a Door Kickers dev, I'll say that short weapons have an advantage is length (which is an issue in CQB, as going around tight corners might make the operators lower a long weapon) and various factors that affect aiming / first shot speed. All in all the numbers should make them more reliable to fire first in CQB, but perception and practical experience on your side might be different.
@Syndie702
2 жыл бұрын
@@elanaibaKHG That makes sense, I kind of burned through most of the missions in a couple days day (albeit not always at three stars) and I haven't really played around with the many different weapons. I think I still stand by my train of thought, since if you've got good security and angles, your engagements should seldom come down to the fraction of a second different in first-shot speed, but if your enemy might not die when they get shot, well then that's an issue that's going to come up more. Like I said, in the few days I've had this game, I've mostly used the starting weapons. But in this series I have noticed that Controlled Pairs (a more skilled player than I) seems to get punished for choosing short guns, and I (a less skilled player) have yet to be punished for using long guns. Great game by the way, probably one of the best I've played all year. I'm gonna go play it some more now. I know I probably have a complaining tone, but having these kinds of choices that players can form opinions about is top notch game design. I also think the choice is pretty realistic (if a bit exaggerated) which is why we've seen operators IRL move to the M4 away from the MP5 in light of the MP5 having inadequate stopping power against opponents wearing body armor (like in the LA shootout.)

does smoke work in real life? I imagine if an enemy combatant saw smoke, they would think something is up and alert their buddies to go investigate.
@Syndie702
2 жыл бұрын
It works as obscuration/concealment. OPFOR's options become basically: -Area fire (ie fire semi-randomly) into the smoke (wasteful of ammo, high potential for collateral if there are civilians behind the smoke.) -Push through the smoke. (straight into the guns of BLUFOR, who might have thermals that can see through the smoke) -Move around the smoke (this may involve leaving a prepared position for a less optimal position.) -Wait for BLUFOR to advance through the smoke. (deprives OPFOR of standoff.) Historically, smoke was used to allow friendly forces to advance close to the enemy. If you imagine a classic trench warfare scenario, you might call in smoke rounds to allow your guys to charge across No Man's Land and not take aimed machine gun fire (the enemy is probably still sweeping No Man's Land with machine gun fire, but it's area fire not aimed fire.) It basically creates similar conditions to a night attack. In the modern day OPFOR usually wants to engage at close range, because the US Military dominates at long ranges due to superior optics and training. Smoke is usually used to obscure complex actions that force BLUFOR to stay in a killzone for a long period of time. In CQB this might be preparing a breach, in open battle it might be clearing obstacles (ie creating a breach in a minefield) or just moving through a large danger area. You're correct that smoke indicates to the enemy that something is happening, but it's also opaque, so they can't directly target BLUFOR so long as the smoke is in the way.

@@Syndie702 I guess my question is: wouldn’t smoke alert the enemy and they will bring more guys forward or take better cover, etc? So while they don’t know 100% what you are doing, they can be more ready than if they didn’t see you. I guess that’s the gamble though? Even though the enemy is able to better their position, the tactical advantage you gain is so much better that it’s worth it. Is smoke ever used as a distractionary tactic? Smoke up the East side as you approach from the South?
@Syndie702
2 жыл бұрын
@@kickwriteteach2313 Yeah smoke will alert the enemy that you are there, so you typically only use it in situations where there is no way to avoid moving into the enemy's field of fire (where they are going to see you anyway, because you lack a covered avenue of approach.) And yeah, although you would typically smoke both the east and south, which forces the enemy to split his fires. Smoking just the east might get him to train all his attention the east, but the enemy will have all around security if they are not incompetent, and if your guys don't have smoke, then they'll be seen, and the enemy will simply reorient to the south. If the south is a covered avenue of approach and you're an infantry force, then a competent enemy is unlikely to fall for your ruse, unless for instance the east is very open and the enemy expects an armored attack. But in a stand up fight (as opposed to a bug hunt) you can't rely on your enemy failing to do his intelligence preparation of the battlefield.
