omg you own a winter’s promise! it’s so atmospheric and the worldbuilding is sooo good. the end of book two will have you gobsmacked - so much of the backstory from book 1 comes to light & the stakes get impossibly high 😭♥️

I've never read Andersen's Snow Queen but me and my siblings used to watch these animated children's versions of Andersen's Fairy Tales (btw did anybody else see those or was my childhood just weird?) and there was a long one of the Snow Queen and it was one of my favourites. Andersen is just the best. Also Calcifer was saying "bless you".

@@minacarrabba I just know you'll finish it!🤗 Yes! I was loving it too, except for some of Tolstoy's ramblings. I've yet to decide if I should start all over again or pick up from where I left it. Sadly, there's not a cold and snowy winter where I live but I try to get into the spirit. Watching Emma, Darling Desi, and other creators surely helps! Hey! If you're into The Nutcracker, you might enjoy the anime Princess Tutu! It's a mix of The Nutcracker, Swan Lake, and a bunch of other ballet. The main villain is Drosselmeyer, whose writing affects the real world, and the main character is a duck that he turns into a white swan ballerina. The main love interest is a prince without a heart. Then there's a knight and a black swan as well. The entire soundtrack is from ballet, too. It's only 26 episodes. The first episode or two are super dorky, but it's actually literally one of the best anime I've ever seen. The animation is great, you'll fall in love with every character whether you want to or not, every episode moves the plot forward, the music is of course lovely, and it's educational because you learn about a bunch of famous ballet! It's one of my very favorites.

My best friend just got me two books for my birthday: a Christmas story collection by Agatha Christie and a beautiful edition of Anne of Green Gables. She knows how much I love you and your videos and always get inspired by you, so she watched a few of your videos to decide on the books she got for me 🥺❤️❤️ I am currently reading great expectations (inspired by you of course) and I’m in the middle of the audiobook of Jenny colgans Christmas at the bookstore. I’m gonna read one of the Agatha Christie stories now and also been thinking of rereading “Wolkenschloss” by Kerstin Gier (the beautiful German edition) which I got last year for my birthday and read during this time last year (because you recommended it) and loved it so so much!

This winter I’m planning on reading The Dragon Republic- I read The Poppy War last month and I must consume this as quickly as I can. I never usually binge series, but this one is a must. These Violent Delights- I just need to finish it at this point. It’s taken me so embarrassingly long to finish. Thunderhead- Same as These Violent Delights The Night Circus- so here’s the thing, I didn’t enjoy it too much when I read it, but it’s a book I constantly think about since I have read it. It might become a tradition where I read it every December, purely bc my cousin gave it to me and it was really sentimental for us.

I hope you both feel better soon. I am just getting into audiobooks. It is moving my TBR along at a faster pace since I don't have to rest my eyes. So far this month I've listened to The Duke and I, Pride and Prejudice, Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine, and last night I listened to Tess of the d'urbervilles. I average one physical book per week so it's a stark contrast. Right now I'm reading Into the Heartless Wood. It's so dark. I think I need something fluffy next.

I'm hopeless because I currently have 19 library books I have to read, plus numerous Kindle books on the go and some audiobooks as well. So hopeless I have had to list what I've got on the go so I know what to go back to! On top of that I have downloaded a heap of Christmas ebooks like Jeanette Winterson's book and others. All I'm going to be doing the rest of the year and new year is reading and trying to get through all of these. I started listening to my copy of Jane Austen's Sense and sensibility and it's so good, I'm going to get back to it soon.

i'm currently on the fifth book of the wheel of time series which is fires of heaven and i've just been obsessed with this series since september or october i'm not sure so i've just kept going. It's not wintery exactly but i love reading fantasy in the winter which has been great so far (so far i feel like i won't like the fifth book as much as the third and fourth but it's still good). Also I just finished The Bloody Chamber which i LOVED so much so thanks for the recommendation and some of the stories especially the ones about wolves had a great vibe for winter (my favourites were the beast and the erl-king) 🥀 and i hope you're feeling better by now✨

Hi Emmie! Feel it might be time for you to pick up Murakami's Hard-boiled wonderland, since you were already planning it and it is surprisingly wintery and snowy. It's my personal favorite of his bc it's so wonderfully weird.
