I was thinking of anna karenina before you even mentioned it :-)
I wanna experience sitting down reading by a fire place in a cabin while it’s snowing outside, it just seems so peaceful to me. Idk why I wrote this but it had to be said- 🤍

A Castle in the Clouds sounds like such the perfect winter read! ❄️
I love the old movie of A Little Princess with Shirley Temple. It made m cry even as a child.
A Little Princess is so amazing. I discovered it through the movie when I was young, and it honestly opened something in me and my love for magical realism (in the movie), because it's such a beautiful figurative way to show hope and opportunities. I love the way the book presented kindness and creativity as a goal and not just a mean to an end, it's just so beautiful
Your content is so relaxing 🥺
i can't believe the fact that your first recommendation is the one that i'm reading now! anna karenina is such a beautiful novel and it suits so well with winter reading...
His Dark Materials is one of those rare series that just gets better and better with each book IMO. Keep going with the series, it’s soooo good.

Agree! It is one of my favorite series of all time. Just gorgeous.
My December book choices are the ones found in Skyrim.
i get so happy every time you post. it's so nice to see people talk about things they love.
4:37....I'd bet money that you had Calcifer laughing at you from the hearth. That was too cute and a nice save. ;) I read Karenina every winter, too; it's such a wonderful book if you don't live where seasons change much.
i absolutely love you and your warm and cozy vids !

Snow country sounds so beautiful!! Definitely a new edition to my tbr.
Ah yes, Anna Karenina is a masterpiece
I'm reading Anna Karenina right now, literally right now! And I knew, as soon as you said "Long but rewarding book", that you would have mentioned this amazing piece of art.
Ooh I have such fond memories of Kerstin Gier! Her 'Ruby Red' trilogy was what made me love reading as a kid :))
I loveeeee your videos! They’re so perfect and calming to watch after a long day thank you Emma ! ❤️🌸
thank you for your review. i did order The Enchanted Sonata and The Little Princess. I plan to read them to my 11 year old daughter and 5 year old son this month.
I am so happy I discovered you today! I look forward to reading all of your cozy reads this winter! This made my day! ❤️
i'm so glad anna karenina is the first rec, i'm reading it right now. also i listen to old russian waltzes while reading it and it's so cozy 🥰
i love the way you describe books ☹️💓 i don’t usually read poetry, but the Robert Frost book sounds so charming
This video made me feel so cosy! I love the christmas set up too, so cute! Wonderful video
What a beautiful video and list. Thank you for the time, energy and insight you spent on both.
A Little Princess really is a great as Emma says. The movie is a delightful adaptation by the brilliant director, Alfonso Cuaron.

A Little Princess makes me sob. I've watched it so many times and I will sob every time.
I was binge watching your videos and realized I've never seen this. Turns out it's new AHHHH
This is the wonderful winter wonderland of books.
I can listen her voice forever💕
Happy HYGGE season. I think the little book of Hygge would be a great read.
your blue ornaments are so pretty!
YESSSS Loving the Yasunari Kawabata love this time of year. Also, this video is amazing as always.
It's very cold and rainy most of the time here in Egypt too. I love winter, as you said very cozy. Jane Eyre is my favorite winter read and my favorite book too. With our blessings by Jo Spain could be a winter read too, it is very cold snowy and rainy all over the book, it is a wonderful thriller very chill and mysterious, matches with cold rainy weather. Love your videos so much you're one of the best.
I've had A Wish in the Dark on my tbr for a while. So Excited to get to it soon too
i already know what to read but i watch your videos because your voice gives me peace and makes me fall asleep thank you
Your content is so soothing! I love the books you’ve chosen 🖤.
I love how your video lowers my stress levels. 😁☺️
finally snow! perfect time for this cozy rec. also your tree is super cute
I love your Chanel you always recommend books that sound so interesting 💗
I love The Ice Palace! It's awesomly atmosphertic.
the snowy montage at the beginning is *chefs kiss* i love it so much, if it was an 30 mins - 1hr, i would put it on in the background to read to.
We don’t celebrate Christmas in our country but I really adore the atmosphere and coziness that cover the world these days, hope you all the best ❤️
The Ice Palace sounds so interesting! Looking forward to your thoughts! Enjoy the snow storm ❄️ ⛄️
Yayayayayyyy this was much awaited
I’m so glad you showed up in my recommended. Subscribed ❤️
I bought the book "wolkenschloss" today and I'm so exited for it ☁️🥺☁️
I love Anna Karenina! 🥰
Castle of the clouds is on my tbr. I had it for a while but was waiting for the winter ro read it. You got me really excited about it and I will pick it up as soon as possible! I have a german copy ( its my native language) and I am happy to see it got translated to English :)
I just finished reading The Enchanted Sonata today! It's every bit as charming, whimsical, and funny as Entwined! I think she managed to capture the magic of Tchaikovsky's music beautifully. There was also the tiniest essence of Phantom of the Opera in it near the end, which made me grin like a fool. I don't think it's as polished as Entwined, but still just as enjoyable. I think you'll like it.
I loved A little princess movie. Wrecks my heart so idk if I can take the emotions of the book...but you always make me want to read everything you talk about no matter what. Lol. 🤣
First celeb i thought of when i first came to your channel was Dakota. I'm crazy about you❤️. Early Merry Christmas!!
Read Anne of Green Gables! It's a really cozy book💛
I'm currently watching the tv show of His Dark Materials and it's actually quite a good adaptation of the books! I'm excited to see where it will go (:
I just stopped the video and read Castle in the Clouds. A perfect book. Thank you
I feel like I want to read every book that you recommend.
So many amazing recs! Personally, Anna Karenina is next on my tbr and one of my suggestions for you is Fathers and Sons (also translated as Fathers and Children) written by Ivan Turgenev, another Russian classic with wonderful descriptions of winter landscapes and an amazing narrative overall. Also on the topic of Tolstoy, The Kreutzer Sonata is one of my faves, especially if you listen to Beethoven's Sonata with the same name. Great video as always, take care, Emma!

Ah yay! You as well, sending all the love
You should read John Masefield's The Box of Delights, which is very wintry and magical.
your voice is so soothing
I read The Blood Spell earlier this year based on your recommendation and I loved it! I loved Blue, she was a badass
So happy to see you mention Heather Dixon! If you like her work and reimagined fairytales on the whole (as I do) I think you would really love Carolyn Turgeon. She has four books to her name, all just positively teeming with magical imagery and gothicness galore. Also I rarely comment on youtube channels but yours is a gem and I just thought I should say so ✨
A Little Princess is one of my favorite movies. I watched it over and over again when I was little and I still watch it sometimes. I have yet to read it though. I'm worried I wouldn't like it as much as the movie, but that's silly. Lol :)
I love how wholesome all your content is and I LOVE the recs room series 💛 I would love it if you could do one especially for poetry especially for those who are just beginning to get into poetry PS currently reading letters to a young poet and LOVING IT

You have inspired me to read this
Hi its me Cucki :) i am from south africa. It's so lovely to meet you. You are an amazing soul. Big beary hugs x
Congrats on 40.9k subscribers!!!
J'adore tes recommandations ! Salut ! 😉
Fantastic video! Anna Karenina is such a beautifully written book! Over the holiday season, would definitely recommend "Evegeny Onegin". so romantic and tragic! Also, the ballet is excellent!
Loved the recommendations! I'm particularly interested in Ana Karerina. Do you have any tips on reading a lengthy book/ how to pace it maybe?
You have to See the german copy of Castle in the Clouds! ITˋS GORGEOUS
You taught me how to say Karenina. I always thought it was care-uh-née-nuh. So thank you.
would LOVE an updated list for 2022
I'm so excited for wintery reads this year! Just craving gorgeous Christmas literature so much. Christmas reads was actually the most recent video I posted on my channel :) I'm going to reread A Christmas Carol with your book club and I'm really excited for it! Love your videos so much.

Here in saudi in eastern province it's still hasn't got that cold but at least we went down to the 20's° so yay! Now on to books. I actually don't put a specific tpr for the seasons but I guess mine for this winter will be: North and South The phantom of the opera The scandalous sisterhood of prickwillow Midnight riots Two cities And Harry Potter and the order of the phoenix. And a couple of Arabic books.🌼 Thank you Emma for the recs!! Nobody fire up my want for reading like you.😍👌
Loved the video! you are very interesting to listen to 👌

If you like winter I definitely recommend the movie "Uzak" by director Nuri Bilge Ceylan. Thank you for your recommendations in hard times!
Not winter specific but PLEASE check out The City of Dreaming Books by Walter Moers!!! It is an absolute adventure. I read it for the first time this summer and it shot up to the top of my favorite books. It’s part of a series technically but they do not need to be read in order from what I’ve seen. I can’t wait to dive into the rest of his books.
watching this in 2021, getting ready for December
it's summer here but i will love to pretend that's not hahaha btw you're so pretty ❤
Amazing video!

I think this book is right up your alley: A Very Russian Christmas: The Greatest Russian Holiday Stories of All Time. It includes stories by Chekhov, Dostoevsky, Tolstoy and lesser known Russian authors. It should still be available. Speaking of Russian music to listen to during the holidays, try the opera "Christmas Eve" by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov. It's based on a story by Gogol. Even if you don't know what they're singing about, the music is just gorgeous and Russian and wintry. I love your videos. Your sweet, calm manner really helps me destress after a gnarly day.
Have you read Hiddensee by Gregory Maguire? It's the origin story of The Nutcracker. Spinning Silver by Noami Novik also has a Russian inspired setting and is a retelling of Rumplestiltskin, though I'd say loosely retells it. I still haven't read it, but I want to read A Little Princess but I have seen the 90s movie. I think the Shirley Temple is closer to the novel, but I haven't seen that one I've just heard a little about it. Blood Spell sounds interesting
Is there anything in gothic or horror genres that you would recommend for the winters?
the things i would do to be in the snow right now 😔😔😔
