We recently remade this video! It's much better and has more information! Link here: kzread.info/dash/bejne/kYh9pMx7YKvSfLQ.html
'"The biggest-selling album of all time began with a potential pool of 700 songs" Thriller MJ. I think the biggest problem most people have is having no material to chose from.
I've been doing studio stuff for the past 9 months in preparation for my EP. I don't get how people can get them out so fast.

You forgot the fact that 6 months go by in a flash, life happens, work sucks, might get one song idea out in a 4 month period. Now the lawn needs mowed. Worked sucked today, taking a nap after work. Then gotta clean the kitchen. Maybe I'll get some writing done tomorrow...
Ok thank u will do :)

Really loving these new videos, they're class! Would it be possible to do a video on how to actually get into bands as none of my friends play and I don't feel like searching online would be the best option for me, no worries if you can't, keep up the good work!

Great video! Could you make a pdf version of this?
great advice ..get the demo right if its sounds pants abort
I find with my band money is always an issue when it comes to studio time, gigs, ect. This is helpful though.
Question I actually just left my old band, we had a following, had songs out, they’re going on fine, but I wanted to do my own thing. I’m currently paying off school debt and car payments and just don’t have much to save to record and release my first solo EP. I was thinking of doing a kickstarter as I think I have enough of a presence built up in my area to get support. Do you have any tips/thoughts on crowd funding and how to incorporate that into an EP release? I’m trying to learn my own mixing and then have someone else master but even mixing my own stuff has been a learning curve 😂
I want that car

INDICELT Cool! What's your stage name?
Thnx 4 d effort of sharing this, man! Got a question.. when releasing a single, what should my release party playlist look like? Shall i play some older songs? Or just the new single twice (at the starting time and ending)?
@TheMusicLab
6 жыл бұрын
Just at the end tends to be how most people would do it, you're gradually building to that moment! In theory it will be the climax of the night, and that doesn't work if everyone's already heard it once!
Whats youre band name
this is awesome... but what if I just got the idea to make my EP in May? I don't want to wait over a year to release. - inspired but frustrated. thanks for the valuable content :)

Vinny Vintage I'm not an expert, but I think this is more like an example, not every EP releases in September ^^
I'm curious to know how to monetize all of it and pay for roof/food with the music, I'm searching for knowledge on how to properly produce things, while not dropping the ball too much on the monetary element of the project... any suggestion of videos I should look into? All the "copyright" stuff is a world I yet have to discover from scratch...
i disagree about apply for festival before release the EP. because the EP is the cause and get gigs is the effect. i don’t know, u think?
First single on my channel
How does an ep work like how do u create one? I'm a new artist and I just want to create a ep and release it.

@@saintemory9556 not actually, an ep must be 2-6 songs
Thank you for the video! We are a band just starting out, and we are planning an EP release in the summer, and a single in the next couple of months. What songs should we play in gigs before the release before our EP is released, for example the single release gig, which will be our first gig. Can we play songs that will be in the EP or not? If not, then we can only play one original song(our single) and the rest covers? Thanks

@TheMusicLab

If you have to ask the question, you're not ready. There is no defined amount of time, there's just specific circumstances where it makes sense to!
How much of a following should your band have before doing this? Also, should you have released anything before this?
@TheMusicLab

do this for every release, every year! ... if your in the really early stages, and arent considering a releasr yet, push it half a year back and give yourself more writing time!

Is the free single the same song as the lead single?
@TheMusicLab
7 жыл бұрын
Lead single is a song you release first in an album/Ep release plan. Free single is just any single you do for free. These can be the same song, but don't have to be.
Any photo-shoots?
@TheMusicLab

You only need photos for blog features or social media, they're completely optional and sometimes can harm a band more than help it, especially if they're too generic/ cliché!
how to i found labels what i do ??
@TheMusicLab
6 жыл бұрын
Generally we'd recommend not just looking for a label. If a label is interested and would want to put money into you, they will find you.
But how do i find people near me that are interested in starting a band?

How do you actually release an EP on iTunes though?

It's not essential to get onto iTunes, bandcamp is a great site for selling music! You have to go through a Label/Distributor to get onto iTunes.
