That would explain the lack of characters in the segment where Sheen gets launched away. Remember that episode where Sheen got incredibly smart with the Brain Gain Helmet and nearly destroyed the entire town by becoming a huge intelligent monster? Adding onto thistheory is that genius Sheen has basically destroyed the rest of the world and now it's a wasteland with only a few remnants of civilization left.

Creator Backlash: John A. Davis later admitted that Sheen was a character who only worked in small doses, so giving him his own TV show caused his appeal to wear thin really fast.

Exactly. He works as a comedic side character, but not as the main focus. Similar to Mater. I don't actually mind him, but giving him the starring role in Cars 2 was a big mistake. Though Puss In Boots' solo film(s) worked quite well. Maybe because he's a pretty interesting overall character and not just the comedic sidekick?

despite the fact that John A. Davis was only a consultant on Planet Sheen. I'm not saying this was fake, it was actually taken from a quote he said in a episode of the Nickelodeon Animation Podcast, which is true. But, I think even though John A. Davis admit this would've caused his appeal to wear thin really fast, that doesn't mean Every Jimmy Neutron Fan would agree with him, i mean if you support Jimmy x Cindy (which I don't), he would probably admitted that Jimmy & Cindy would've been a terrible couple to begin with. Annd yes, I do like Planet Sheen, don't attack me on a show everyone else probably hates.

The thing that always bothered me about this show was that it's never addressed how the people back in retroville reacted to a child going missing. Especially his father, I can't imagine how he feels.

My explanation: All The time Sheen spent on Zeenu was At worst an hour on Earth due to Time relativity. So Jimmy and The gang really went to rescue him but it took time from Zeenu's time Scale

What's sad is that the creators wanted the final Jimmy Neutron season to be more action and drama oriented, and it would have had a finale with Cindy and Jimmy becoming a couple. I hate that we got this shit instead of that.

It’s crazy cus I read that there was supposed to be a special where Jimmy went to save sheen and they all went home but they never were able to do it because... maybe it’s that the show sucked ass and no one would be up for that. But all though this show sucks I probably would’ve liked seeing jimmy save sheen

What Could Have Been: 1) The show was originally going to be more serious. The Emperor was evil, Aseefa was the leader of a resistance group, and Sheen was a double agent working for both sides. This was changed because it was too close to Avatar (the James Cameron film, not that other Nicktoon). Had they not scrapped it, it most likely would've been as successful as the original series. 2) There was going to be a TV movie about Jimmy and the gang going to rescue Sheen, but due to low ratings, production costs and several writers moving on, it was cancelled.

Fun fact: In the Polish dub, Dorkus (translated as Platfus which means Flatfoot) is actually voiced by the same guy who does Squidward in the Polish dub of SpongeBob, which REALLY drives this point home. Also, did everything just taste purple for a second? (I'm sorry. I had to.)

Yeah, they’re were the Megward the Wizards of the situation, even though they ‘didn’t’ deserve.

For perspective on the staff change, "Jimmy Neutron" had only two episode directors (Keith Alcorn and Mike Gasaway.) "Planet Sheen" got both of those directors back, but then hired *ten more.*

Cure Hana very true. Dory is the textbook example how to put a comic relief in the focus correctly. Give them a personality other than being funny/stupid, give some more traits, and give them some depth like a motive, insecurity or in Dory’s case a tragic and sympathetic backstory.

A silent, Wall-e style TV special with Goddard would have been a much better spin-off for Jimmy Neutron. But that’s just my opinion since Goddard is my favorite Jimmy Neutron character.

Revisiting this one was interesting. I too like to think that Sheen was on that planet so long because Jimmy just thought "... You know what? I left the note and everything. I'm just going to leave him wherever he ended up."

You still want to see Gaston get his comeuppance because he's a jackass. I love him for his bravado and arrogance but I also enjoy watching him get shutdown. You go into the Hunchback of Notre Dame, you don't root for the man who was ready to drown babies, but you can enjoy him as a character because he's a villain.

There’s an episode of Jimmy Neutron where Jimmy, Carl, and Sheen travel to Retroville in the future. In that, Sheen is there in the future, implying that he was eventually returned to Earth

The best scene was literally the first scene of the first episode when Sheen was still in Jimmy's world.

Eric Bauza, (who voices Foop in The Fairly OddParents and Leather Teddy in T.U.F.F. Puppy) was originally chosen to be the voice of Dudley Puppy, but the creators didn't feel that he was right for the character and Jerry Trainor was chosen instead.

It was actually one of the ones times where I actually agreed with Enter about being distracted by the voice actors not changing their voices. I watched a lot of iCarly and this show came out around the time iCarly was getting really popular, so I could never hear anyone but Spencer in this show

Why did Jimmy put up notes for Sheen? He's a genius, right? Why not install some security? A laser grid? Lock the rocket up or maybe make it inoperable without a key? You just left it unguarded and easily able to be stolen and you expected nothing to go wrong?

You'd think Jimmy Neutron would have enough foresight to think Sheen wouldn't understand what J. N. meant

This show turned 10 years old today (along with TUFF Puppy)

Jimmy Neutron was originally going to have a fourth season which would have been darker, had more character development, and continued plot lines from season 3. But DNA Productions went bankrupt and couldn't afford to continue making Jimmy Neutron. Imagine if Nickelodeon would have put their resources into giving Jimmy Neutron another season instead of Planet Sheen. If only...

I always felt this spin-off was more of a timed thing. Like something that was designed for a handful of episodes and in turn, transition back to Jimmy Neutron in some way, or into another spin-off. I guess this wasn’t the case.

Agree, sheen went from a funny comic relief who still had character, into an annoyingly unfunny moron whose stupidity rivals cosmo and mr. turner from seasons 9-10 of FOP

It feels like jimmy was trying to get rid of Sheen with those notes

Supposedly, Nick had plans to make a finale movie for this that would’ve been about Jimmy and the others going into space to rescue Sheen. It would’ve been the big finale for both this and the original show. That actually would’ve been interesting.....

Well, how about THAT...

My theory on this is Sheen is older and in high school. He's miserable and can't stand his teen life. So he isolates himself inside his bedroom everyday after school writing his own comics (Planet Sheen) fantasising his life on a different planet away from society

I'd actually prefer a Libby spinoff. She's a pretty cool character.

To go over that part where you said that Jimmy would've brought Sheen back, there is actually more to it than you first thought. Jimmy actually knew that Sheen was most-likely going to steal the rocket, considering all the post-its that he stuck in his lab. So there is no doubt about this anymore, Jimmy just carelessly left him all alone in space

XD Good! Sheen can be annoying at times.

Apparently, the creator of this show originally planned for the king of Planet Xenu to be evil, and Sheen crash lands on the planet in the middle of a resistance movement against the King tyranny, and becoming a double agent for the Rebels, while getting into whacky hijinks, acting as a foil. And the series would have ended with Jimmy and Carl going to Xenu to rescue Sheen and bring him back. That probably would've been a much cooler concept.

Giving Sheen his own show is like giving Truffles from Chowder her own show. It's too much all the time. That's why they work in small doses.

Fun Fact: The reason why the show looks so different from the original is because the original production company (DNA Productions) went out of business after essentially betting the farm on Ant Bully...needless to say, it bit them in the ass and they had to shut their doors before actually finishing Jimmy Neutron.

There actually IS one clever idea in this show, and that's naming the chimpanzee Nesmith. He's named after Mike Nesmith, leader of 1960s band The Monkees, and was famous for his iconic green wool hat. Nesmith in "Planet Sheen" wears a red wool hat. That's honestly pretty clever!

One of these days writers are going to learn that the small doses idiot characters getting their own spin off shows is a terrible idea.

Anyone else notice how certain clips from this show that people use are really choppy?

If I'm being entirely honest , I actually kind of enjoyed Planet sheen when it was on , since Sheen was my favorite character on JN.

Woulda been better if it were Sheen Galaxy and he flew around to different planets, trying to get aliens to guide him back home, and in the process, he messes everything on that planet up and has to fix it. At the end of every ep, he gets kicked off the planet and pointed in the direction of another one.

I would actually like it if this whole show was revealed to be Sheen’s dream all along, and he never stole Jimmy’s rocket.

Even Libby could've made a better protagonist. Somewhere in the multiverse is a universe with Libby becoming the queen of the planet, and basically turning it into a giant dance party, like that episode with the bad future of Libby becoming a music-based dictator.

Awesome video, and also not to mention that ending with the Super Mario Galaxy music. Can't wait for Tuff Puppy

I don't remember if it was canon in the original Jimmy Neutron, but I kinda like that Planet Sheen establishes Sheen's last name is Estevez. It's a nice little reference for the parents, but not in a way that distracts from the actual story. And that's about as clever as this show ever got...

That really killed the Jimmy Neutron franchise, with no hope for revival, but not as bad as Ren & Stimpy: Adult Party Cartoon. At least it’s a non-canon to the Jimmy Neutron universe.

I never understand why they make shows about comic relief characters. They're called "relief" for a reason. They're a break. You could do a good show with a comic relief character, but you better have a good supporting cast.

The episode I remember most was the one where Sheen had to beat a giant brain flower; but kept hurting himself.

So because the original animation studio folded, we got this instead of the season where Evil Jimmy actually escapes from the Dark Matter Dimension (and Professor Calamitous continues to sound like an evil Nigel Thornberry)...

being the best character and the most likeable are two different things. Being the most likeable means he's the one you feel the most sympathy for. And that's a bad thing for a villain (unless he's supposed to be a tragic villain, but this is not the case)

Villains tend to be more interesting than heroes because they tend to never succeed. There are some shows that have deliberately used this in order to create likable villain characters, like Phineas&Ferb and Sofia the First. But generally speaking, this is not the intended effect and if you end up wanting the villain to destroy the heroes, then the writer is doing something wrong.

@@moonman375 Sure in this specific case it's not applicable. I meant more in the general sense. Also I don't think likeability is solely about sympathy/empathy. Other factors include: relatability, character philosophy, emotional impact, likeable/humanizing traits, etc. In simple terms, villains in my experience tend to have more to them and that makes them more likeable. But I understand if we have two different definitions we won't necessarily agree on this point.

At least the “ugly” alien with a crush on Sheen is better looking than Tootie; plus you’d never wanna have Vicky as a sister. (Maybe as a gf, but not as a sister.)

The original finale had Carl Wheezer searching for his mexican gay lover. Jimmy is apathetic towards Sheen going missing as all he did was screw things up for him and others. Carl swipes some of his inventions and another rocket to find Sheen. When he manages to track him down, we see why this concept was scrapped. Carl uses Jimmy's inventions to massacre the alien planet. At one point the aliens try to fight back. Emphasis on try. Carl chugs down some Neutronic Burping Soda and his burp creates a shockwave so huge that it wipes out most of them. He bursts into Sheen's house, only to find the green imposter. Luckily, Carl douses him in salt and he melts into a steaming gooey liquid. Carl finally finds Sheen, and they share a long smooch. Sheen: "But I was an annoyance to everyone on earth! Why should I go back?" Carl: "Because you clearly miss us! Why else would you hook up with some green freak that looks exactly like me?" Sheen: "Yeah. *picks up handful of green goo* And he's not as good between the sheets as you. You're the real deal." Carl: "And when we go back, we gotta let everyone know the truth about us! I'm tired of pretending I like Jimmy's mom. That bitch can rot for all I care! I'm such a macho man that I only date other macho men!" Sheen: "They always saw us as those two guys nobody likes. Always picking on us." Carl: "You know what? Fuck going home! We got an entire planet to ourselves now. The earth can go to hell! We're much happier here now that we only have each other." *resume kissing as the camera zooms out and fades to black*
