Anyways i got hold of the stereo for 5 mins and lets all have a guess what i played.. yeah i don't think i've ever seen so many people gather round one car so quickly all trying to find out the name of this absolute beauty haha! im only 26 but i was one of the lucky ones that got introduced to this music from a young age as my father was a dj at a club on an american air base here in the uk back in the late 80s early 90s :)

It amazes me that certain songs are taken off KZread, yet a different song by the SAME artist will stay up.

Fernando Da Rocha da Costa 2 Indeed my BBoy brother, your comment looked like I could have posted it. Don’t, dont, don’t stop
The little synthesizer hook that starts at 1:29 is quite possibly the most commonly used one in all of DJ land! I freakin' love it!
What an absolute classic, still get goose pimples when i hear this. Changed everything when it came out. Big tune for driving around with your mates, windows down, stereo on full, equaliser and amp maxed out haha, those were the days.
The pioneers of TR-808: Afrika Baambata And The Soul Sonic Force, and Planet Patrol... YEAH, BOYYYYY!!!!!!!

But my BBoy brother… Arthur Baker & John Robie were the Producers, Bam & SSF were a DJ / Rappers, Planet Patrol were a Quatet of singers, none were involved in the Music Production…. Just sayin!
WORD! Beautiful, transcendent, Amazing!
This is the best funk music of all time. Number one.
THIS CHANGED EVERYTHING LOOKING FOR THE PERFECT BEAT MAN GERMANY WAS ON FIRE 83-85 ANY AND EVERY CLUB ROCKED THIS JOIN.
@miller4th502nd Thanks for this! My Pops brought this home befor I was aloud to use his turn tables. This was the first track I put on when I could. I left the original vinyl single at a friends house in 1983 maybe? Never seen or heard it again, not in its entierty, until I found this post. THANK YOU SOOOOOOOO MUCH!!!!!!!!!!
after listening three and a half decades to this anthem, i came to the conclusion that this is the final, definite version. you played at your own risk and you nailed it.
Nice work dude, some cool subtle touches to the track! used to play this all the time back in the day!
Could not agree with you more! I have a test pressing of this song ! Hell I've even got a Tommy Boy tattoo !
Escuto essa música desde Agosto de 1983 e estamos em 2024. É a música de Break Dance mais querida no Estado de Goiás, juntamente com Bambaataa. Planet Patrol arrebenta. Lembrando do compositor Arthur Backer
a batida mais perfeita de todos os tempos...
Versão com a tecnologia da época e simplesmente linda!
4:25 - Woof-Woof-Woof 4:33 - Hey Buddy! Hey Buddy! Hey Buddy! This is epic part of Planet Patrol - Play At your own risk (Instrumental Version).

Junto a Planet Rock, Play at Your Own Risk, two of the greatest classics of the old school, Perfect Beat!

Eewww wants that massive beat kicked in at :29 I had no other choice but to get up and start popping and locking. Thanks for posting this timeless peace of art. Cheers from Guadaljara, Mexico
in the fall of 1982, most of us were 16 years old, i first heard this instrumental version on tape :-) For us over in Holland this was one the Import tracks from the US compiled on a SA90 TDK tape....Some of us were tired of hearing the music the clubs..Arthur Baker amongst others, made the difference :-)He created the backbone for this track and recorded Planet Rock and Play at your own risk in just one single night..
ah this song is such a fantasy!
OMG dis is it...I remember gettin off to dis in the hole in the walls....
This song is so sick!!!!!!!!!
thx :)) and yes, that song is everfresh. ;) It's an alltime classic!
PERFECT IN EVERY WAY!!
I have to this day STILL the original cassette copy of the LP a friend of mine has.I knew that I would have only one shot at it,so I recorded it on TDK'S MA-90 and Dolby type C noise reduction. Now,more then 30 years later and thousands of play-backs later,I'm still jamming to this same cassette tape.ANALOG FOREVER!!.
1 OF the Best Popping songs Ever!
this one is a classic
Bravo!
For the gods!!! Detroit is still in the house 2019 my jam!!!
The absolute nuts tune
I FREAKIN LOVE THIS SONG!
Fucking HUGE - a true classic.
This is exactly why I'm still holding on to all my early 80s promos. They will never age or go out of style. I feel sorry for today's teens and their cookie cutter crap music. We didn't have cell phones, ipods or laptops then, but we knew how to throw down the best jams.
Indeed. A masterpiece.
awesome stuff just fucking awesome DJ mighty master cee talking real talk
pure class timeless stuff!!
thank you for putin this song
wsup! tysvang! this is tommy! hahaha yep! got my kids dancing now..they improving....
The congas which enter at 1:00 blow things up. And then the breakdown at 2:40. 4:40 tops everything off.
Love it. This track makes me want to get my "Robot" on.
The moment that roland 808 goes boom at 0.29 seconds. Just awesome music
