They should update the Seamaster bracelet and helium valve, but are afraid of losing the long running style. It could go either way in sales. I would pick the Planet Ocean first, even at the higher price.

I went to the store to buy the 300M, but wanted to compare with the Planet Ocean. In the end, for me, the difference was the quick set hours (I travel by air quite often) and the feel winding the movement. The 300M felt insubstantial to me when winding, but the PO had a really positive feel to it. I surprised myself to find I preferred the blue over the black. I didn't expect that. The lume is amazing. When I woke up this morning at 0530, bleary and blurry eyed, I looked at the watch on the nightstand and said, "I have 50 more minutes to sleep." I liked the case size of the 300M and that was the watch I wanted, but the one I got was the PO and I wouldn't change a thing.

Exactly the same experience and decision as you. The SMP simply cannot compare. Feels like a toy and looks like one beside. Was initially concerned about the thickness and even dial size but it wears surprisingly small to spec. This is one piece in my collection that I won’t get rid of.

Great review Bruce!!! I’m looking forward to that next review! One thing you might consider is including the wrist size these watches will fit. It’s rather expensive to have to buy a larger bracelet to fit a larger wrist. Even just buying extra links can add as much as $100/link!

That's a big name drop there! Tim has also been known to say many times that the PO might just have been made redundant with the release of these new SMP's. This video definitely proves that's not the case. This Planet Ocean looks incredible - dial case bracelet and all! And the wrist presence of a PO is very special, I know after owning many PO's and SMP's.

I just acquired a Seamaster Planet Ocean , ref: 2201.51.00 black , in a trade with a longtime friend/collector. It actually came on a Omega rubber dive strap with deployment clasp. This is the Omega diver that checks all the boxes. I completely agree with your assessment of the ergonomics of the bezel, which is why I wouldn't own a Seamaster. Don't know what they were thinking when they went with the current bezel design. I dive , so functionality for me is huge . Great video Bruce . Keep them coming !!!

I since tried on the Planet Ocean at an AD while on vacation in Hawaii. The planet ocean feels great on the wrist. The bracelet and weight of the planet ocean feel great. I liked the planet ocean even before they offered this beautiful white dial orange bezel version. Maybe some day I will add the planet ocean to my collection 😁. Man, you make it difficult to wait :-) I was all set on waiting for the next version of Planet Ocean, since Omega usually release a new version every 5 years, and the 89xx movement just got an upgrade to 70 hrs power reserve in the DeVille Tresor line, which means it's due for an upgrade any time now. Personally, I would choose the Planet Ocean (coupled with the Aqua Terra for the more dressier occasions) over the Professional.

If money was not an issue I would just buy both of them, because while they both fulfill the same functions, for me they are distinctly different. For me, who at heart is still an Omega fan, this is the most interesting presentation I have watched on your channel. It's presentations such as this one that has revived my interest in buying a few more watches that I can wear on a daily basis in a Corporate environment. Phil.

Omega is clearly state of the art quality. 300m is beautiful, eye catching, highly functional as both a tool and a high end luxury piece. I think the controversy of the details of new design surrounds the fact they now strongly lean towards a modern sharp sporting style - departing from the very well recieved more formal design character of the previous model. Still gorgeous , ultimate quality - but a clear purposeful change in design cues - to " I am a tough luxury sports watch - " . Black dial version awesome.

The Seamaster Planet Ocean 600 meter is the last part of my 3 watch grail lineup. Yes it is tall but so was a Marathon JSAR I had and other Seiko and Orient watches. With a 8.5" wrist anything less than 45mm looks like a Bandaid with 2 small dots on wrist. Now if I only had the $ to buy one along with a new Seiko Spring Drive diver everything would be roses. Great video by the way.

Hey Bruce, great video as always. I've owned 8 variations of the Seamaster including the PO, SMP, SMPc, and Spectre style Seamastet and my experience was different. I have 8.25" wrists and out of all of them, the PO was the least comfortable to wear; still great, but definitely much more top heavy than the others by quite a margin IMHO. Love the PO too but its the only one that I wouldn't rebuy and it didn't stay in my collection just for the size. Cheers

The 300M is the entry level rightfully so. Everybody seems to have one these days. Yours is not that common and gorgeous though. The PO is the perfect partner for your Hulk. The finishing. The materials. It is the flagship of Omega's divers. I am a happy owner of two. The Seamaster 300M is compared to the Sub on a regular basis. The PO doesn't need to be compared to anything else. Both beautifully made quality dive watches from Omega but I prefer the PO, the design just speaks to me more but I'm definitely a little biased as I own a first gen 42mm Planet Ocean 2500, matte black dial/black bezel with white numerals and to me it's still the best looking iteration in my opinion, the proportions are just right and it has a classic design that looks just as good today as it did 10 years ago when purchased, I don't think this watch will ever look dated, I still really enjoy mine, it's definitely a keeper for me. Great comparison Bruce👍

In person the 300m pro feels like a toy next to the PO. Ordered this exact PO and can't wait to receive it.

You can't go wrong with a Seamaster. More importantly, Ocean may be the greatest name anyone was ever given.

I'm just waiting for the Planet Ocean to get thinner! It used to be nice and slim, hopefully one day it will again.

Bruce after spending time with these two, would you still choose the SM300 Master Co-axial as your sports watch in the 3-watch "only Omega" collection video?

Currently I have the Tudor BB GMT. At first the thickness of it didn't bother me. But after the honeymoon phase ended, I've started noticing it more and more. I think the main issue is that all of its thickness is "stored" in the middle part of the watch, it's very disproportionate because of this. Did I understand correctly, it's not the case with the PO?

Much prefer your Seamaster. Only thing I like more on the PO is the applied logo, other than that it doesn't float my boat. Think I'll go for the retro sm300m (any chance of a review of one?) Cheers mate 👍🏻👍🏻

Go review. I agree with you on the flaws that you brought up. I do like both watches, however, I feel they are a bit over priced.

You previously had the 8500 PO, and after a pretty rave review it seemed to disappear from your collection. You seem to be leaving heavily towards getting another in this video, any further insight as to your reasons?

Great comparison Bruce. I love my PO 42 but I can see why you love your Seamaster...It is hard to beat the value Omega packs into its watches 😊👍

Watching this I was hoping you would do an Aqua Terra review as it's my grail. So happy to hear you're going to do one. Could you buy any chance review both the full size and the 38.5mm?

They are sending the full size version but hopefully in the future we could do a midsize comparison as well

@@BruceWilliams that would be great Bruce. I really hope Omega would bring this out with a tapering bracelet with micro adjustment. Then this would be absolutely perfect.
