I only take one watch with me when I go on vacations. Almost always I'd end up taking my G-Shock because I know I don't have to worry about it - won't attract unwanted attention, ok if dropped or banged against the wall, etc But after quite a few trips I changed my mind. These days it's either my orient or planet ocean - mostly because I want to be able to think back and associate my mechanical watches with the good times had.

I took 2 watches on my last holiday. My Omega Seamaster 300SMP white dial/ black bezel and also my Oris Propilot X Kermit - not for the 1st of the month but because that line green dial just pops in the sunlight! Great to see you back with new content Andy!

For the first time, I took one of my more expensive pieces away with me for my annual holiday (always taken more 'inexpensive' watches before that). I had the Omega Railmaster Denim Dial, which had just enough brand cache, but wasnt too flashy to worry about security/safety, a nice size, rugged, awesome time keeping, good enough water resistance for what I was doing and a dynamic dial to keep me interested for the duration.

Great video as always, really enjoyed it. I’m glad you had a nice holiday. I was in Florida for a family holiday and took my Submariner Date. I probably should have taken my GMT Master II to track UK time but enjoyed the simplicity of the Sub.

Very enjoyable video as always 👍🏻 As for a holiday watch, we recently had a week in Norfolk (uk holidays for us now we have added a dog to the family) and I decided to take 1x watch and wear it everyday for everything and that was my Tudor Pepsi GMT on a Jubilee bracelet. Great GADA watch if needed.

I got the current generation of the Planet Ocean Chronograph with an orange bezel. It's quite a monster on the wrist, but for a down-by-the-sea type of holiday scenario, it really is a brilliant watch. Keep up the great content and greetings from Poland!

Had two Planet Oceans in the past and I’ve gotta say: the dial furniture is just mesmerizing. The kind of dial that draws one in the more one stares at it. The case details and finishing IMO puts most watches from the Rolex group to shame. One downside , since I live in a tropical climate, the combination of the weight and the height can make it uncomfortable after wearing for 12+ hours. Maybe I should try them on straps like you do.

I have just returned from a week in the Lake District Andy, and wore my Tissot T-Touch Connect Solar all week. We do a bit of walking, so it's useful to have the step counter, compass, stop watch, barometer etc. I did miss my proper watches (including the Planet Ocean) though!

Summer watches have been an Omega Seamaster 300M 41mm “Peter Blake” with black face, in quartz. During the day it’s on a black silicone strap, and at night it’s on black leather. The alternate Omega is a first gen AquaTerra 39.2mm automatic with blue face (and black date wheel = rare) on the factory stainless bracelet.

Congrats on the new job. My OG Planet Ocean still has the slight dent in the bezel edge from when I cracked it against a door frame in week 2 of owning it back in 2009. Think a new bezel would run me about £500 so I can live with it…just! 😂 I absolutely love my PO (2201.50), will never sell it.

I take my Breitling Colt 41. This is a pre Kerns model with a beautiful detailed dial, all brushed case and bracelet and the winged B logo. It also wears like a 39mm and sits at less than 11mm on the wrist so very comfy.

In Mexico, Los Cabos, in June, my Rolex GMT Batman was the perfect do it all companion. Beach, pool and dining out it was the perfect choice. On subject of PO's, my 43.5 is also incredibly accurate.

Beautiful watches these Planet Oceans .. i really love the first generation too...Omega prices have gotten out of hand for me these days, but there are still bargains to be had. My one watch now is a Seamaster 2541.80. Picked up in great condition for under £1900... Once I get that rubber strap, it will be the perfect do it all watch For anyone else who doesn't have spare 5-10k lying around, I really recommend older Omegas from the 90s - 2000s

I wear my omega seamaster GMT white dial (great white) Last year I dropped it on the tiled floor in the hotel room when trying to thread the nato strap through. I wasn’t so lucky and shattered the crystal! Top tip, always sit down and put your watch on from your lap if you have a fiddly nato . 😅

I use my pelagos lhd as my holiday watch , can handle anything you csn throw at it and it's under the radar with its Titanium and mat ceramic . Some say its too thick, which i didagree with , but on holidays with short sleeves its certainly doesnt matter.

Hi Andy. I wear my Planet Ocean 39.5 on the bracelet (which you have seen) a lot but on holiday more for smart occasions. For daily holiday duty I have been wearing my Tudor Pelagos 39 on its rubber strap. The strap is definitely better during the day. With the titanium case it is super light and it looks smart but not as bling as the PO which I feel is a plus. On the accuracy front I have found neither my PO nor my Speedy Pro keep time as well as your PO did. Technically they are within spec but the Pelagos seems to be more accurate even though it isn’t spec’d so highly. Ah well, maybe it’s because I put them dial up at night (so I can check the time when I wake up)!

  • @TheEnglishWatch

    @TheEnglishWatch

I have found the PO is very sensitive to how I place it overnight. I used to store dial up in the watch box, but would find it gained a good few seconds each night. It also hates winders. I find wearing daily and leaving face down is best after trial and error.

@@TheEnglishWatch Wow. I wouldn’t have thought it. On the other hand Watchtime magazine always tests in multiple orientations so now I know why. Be interesting to go through a few back issues and find the Omega tests (and compare). I have a (Wolf) watch winder but haven’t really used it yet. One other interesting point is that I also have a Christopher Ward watch with a Selitta movement in it and it seems to keep better time than the Omegas or Tudor - at nearly a 10th of the price LOL. But finally, I wonder if it’s anything to do with wearing watches intermittently. Payback for not having just one and wearing it all the time! Best regards, Andrew

Hi Craig. How you pay for a watch is a personal thing. I don’t have any issue with finance if that’s an affordable way for you, especially if you want to buy new rather than used. It’s like anything discretionary, home and family first, fun second. You won’t get any discount on finance, but with inflation as it is, you effectively get the Watch discounted buying now rather than saving while prices rise. Speak to the wife first though 😅.

Great video! Saving up for the white on white Planet Ocean as my one and only watch. Had plans to buy a limited Tag Heuer Aquaracer (WAY2015.BA0927) that I had previously owned, but the astounding amount of fakes out there put me off. With the recent big hike to the retail prices I'm hoping a second hand 39.5mm will come up soon.
