I’ve found that when I poop Hoya vines vertically, they no longer grow from the top of the vine, but rather force a new growth point from the highest portion of the first loop. Have you noticed the same?

Sorry I had to laugh.....you "poop hoya vines vertically"? I haven't noticed this but I am very interested in seeing if this happens to mine as well.

It does that everytime to me! A bit annoying because then the growth on top is hard to loop.

Jeff if you want a more stable trellis you can add a second hoop at a 90 degree angle then zip tie at the top. It is more stable and gives more distribution of weight of multiple stems.

I did the same to a Hoya Carnosa Krimson Queen it’s coming into its 3rd year and it’s massive including the leaves. Very colourful too with pink, greens, cream/white. Soooo beautiful and it’s flowered and has 4 peduncles. It also grows quick. I’ve never propagated it I just can’t 😊 and the main stem is huge and has I think 4 new stems coming off of it. Mine is in a bigger pot it’s happy and I love it. I water mine from the bottom and don’t do it very often only more when it’s growing. I need to get a massive trellis for it and do the same as you but a hanger will not be big enough. It is a big task. The leaves should grow roots too I’ve done it. I love my plants too 😌. Love your channel and enthusiasm for your plants.😌

I think you could have used a bigger trellis! Isn't it amazing how they just grow and grow from one big vine. I put off re-trellising one of my giant carnosas for months and finally broke down in August, took it outside, unwound it from its existing trellis and it was two vines that were over 12' long. It took me a couple of hours to get it repotted and onto a different trellis (I opted for a round obelisk-type thing). It was about 100 degrees outside that day and I was not at all comfortable. But once you start, you have to finish!
@EverythingPlants
Жыл бұрын
Holy crap...12' that is awesome. The problem is the spot I have it in can only accommodate a trellis that size. It was make do or chop up haha
@kyrad6543
Жыл бұрын
@@EverythingPlants From the looks of your potsii, it will be 12' in no time.
I was gifted a monster hoya carnosa this fall. The most I have done with it is untangle it (with minimal damage) and top dress it. I was going to repot it but got intimidated after untangling it. It has to be eight feet long and is in a 10" pot. It is my first hoya and I am so afraid of killing it if I repot it. Currently I have it draped along the front of two shelves on my plant rack.
@EverythingPlants

Most hoyas are pretty resilient, especially the carnosa, so don't be afraid of repotting that beast! You can do it!

@@EverythingPlants I have yet to put mine on a trellis. It’s a daunting task :-)
I have a hoya that is huge (about 3 or 4 ft high) I've wrapped and wrapped around a trelis. It's time to unravel and do something with it. Please help. Can it climb up a wall? Or should I get a large trelis for in the house?
How long does it take for props to start a new growth point? I’ve started my first perlite prop box a few days ago.
@EverythingPlants
Жыл бұрын
The rooting process may take a few weeks and after you pot it up, it may take a few months. The cutting needs to grow roots large enough to sustain new growth, so most of the growth will be below the soil line for awhile

Could you spell this Hoya , you just re trellis. Should a pretty one
Absolutely loved this!! Question… If I accidentally cut a stem from a krimson princess will another grow somewhere else? It was a cutting of two leaves with the bare stem that I cut so now it has 9 leaves but they’re more bushy rather than vining? 🫣🥲👀
