That 737 saved our asses in my town in the NSW south coast disaster 2019/2020 fires :) Glad to see he's over with you lads each year for your fire seasons.
Juan, you're *killin* it with this channel. Not only do you promote flying safety, you bring other news from the front lines that nobody else covers to your level of detail. AND you have a full-time job and other responsibilities to your familu and the community. I'm beginning to think (1) you never sleep, or (2) there's more than one of you. BRAVO ZULU, Cap'n.
Looks like it got into a hanger this morning. Yikes! Good luck to everyone. Thanks, Brownie.
So good to have Pete help out.
Thanks Juan, THANKS PETE for the tech support!

Sending good thoughts. Hope everyone is okay.
Just a comment for anyone who may not be aware- Google Maps has a wildfire layer now which once they begin showing the boundaries updates about every 35 minutes or so (At least that has been the case with the Thompson Fire).

We just rafted the South fork American on the 4th.. 21 miles, lots of rapids, It was a tad warm, 106 at the end of the day. Great trip.
121F at my lab in Livermore at 1330. Tinder dry fire conditions will leave no one unaffected. Notwithstanding your best efforts to keep a clear perimeter, the flying ash/embers will be a challenge.

very very glad that with new tools live feed cameras that a lot more people can use and get up to speed with wildfires in California and elsewhere. Unfortunately we don’t have a Network for live feeds cameras for wildfires up here in Alaska, we have to get the information from the Incident Management Team or Our Local News Channel for Coverage on wildfires here in Alaska. Yes we are also experiencing a Lot of wildfires some caused by humans but also there are a lot of Lightning Strikes that set Off Wildfires. The Large Fires are Near Fairbanks , Alaska. And one that closed the Entrance to the Campground for Mount Denali Formerly Mt. McKinley. To this Day I have used both names when talking about the Mountain Hoping the Airplanes at Placerville Airport will not be in harms way and the Community surrounding the Airport and the many Families and Homes are Safe and not Hurt Great cameras with Live feeds. Great Job Juan Indeed giving information about The Fires there in California and Communities that are Affected By the Fires
Outstanding coverage Juan 😱👍🏻
Thanks for playing the video and the mention, Juan! - Don the Camera Guy.

I don't understand why they don't use Mather Airport as a place to reload the fire fighting planes with retardant? Their runway is PLENTY long enough and would be much closer and faster to refill from than McClellan during fire season with fires near Placerville. Somebody should press CalFire to install retardant tanks at Mather.

@@glenturney4750 those two airports are only 9 miles from each other, irrelevant distance for aircraft vs the millions of dollars for building a duplicate facility
There's a fire along the east side of RDM in Redmond Oregon. Airport just shut down. 150 acres. 100 degrees.

Well Madras is just up the road. Bend on your south. How many eco terrorists you think live in that area? Only takes one chicken little to do it.
My family we forced to evaluate. I do restoration for a living, so I hope their house doesn't get affected. Here to help anyone who needs some guidance. Prayers and well wishes yal! 🙏🏼
I live about 3 miles from Placerville airport (as the crow flies). The high temp on my weather station was 110.7 degrees F. The fire started around 2-2:30pm. I was listening to Skynet when they released the fixed wing aircraft (around 7-7:30pm) and they said at that time the fire was mapped at 77.5 acres.
And it's only the beginning of the fire season...
Nice work I really enjoyed that you are dealing with fire while us on the Texas Gulf Coast are dealing with Hurricane getting ready for land fall.
Very good coverage as always. My old stomping grounds .. praying for rain💧☔️🌧️
thanks for your reporting
And...that's why they call them MADDOG !!! THANKS TO ALL THE FIREFIGHTERS IN THE AIR AND ON THE GROUND FOR YOUR BRAVE, HARD WORK ALWAYS !!!! 😘❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you Juan, keep working.
Krdm has a fire right now closing the airport to fire operations only was on site today watching tanker operations close to redmond oregon
Coming in loud and clear Juan. You are the super source for information ✈️🔥🚒

Watching from Australia but have friends with aircraft located there. All the best to you all, stay safe.
starting to get a little smoky sky over here in Gardnerville, 20 miles south of Carson City.. Thanks CA!!
Best episode of "Fire Country", ever!
Good clarity feed on my end. the Tanker drops will help slow the fire. Tanker lead indicates large tankers are on their way. Former firefighter from BC where I worked with BCFS fire suppression some IA but mostly walking the fire guards and operating the fire porta-pumps.
Thanks, Juan!
Glad this did not happen last weekend as we were flying a large number of Young Eagles out of Placerville. 110 degrees in El Dorado Hills today. ☀️🔥
I assumed it was started in the homeless encampment. I asked skywagon why the airport had a chain link surrounding. He said the homeless were breaking in and stealing candy from the machine.

Great, snappy coverage of the fire I just learned about late in the day. Brought me up to speed fast. Am glad to learn it’s been tamped down at only 64 acres.
Great Information Juan you are getting out to people who are or maybe affected by this fire at Placerville Airport. It’s Great Information to see what is going on also from the Live Feed Cameras in California. We Don’t Have Live Feed Cameras up here in Alaska We are also having a lot of Wildfires going on here near Fairbanks,Alaska And the Entrance to Denali park has also had a Wildfire, Incident Management Teams have been , the Type 3 Smoke Jumpers and Fire Crews from other States are Helping With our Local Fire Crews. We Also have a lot of Lightning Strikes that caused wildfires some are Human Caused which is disheartening to hear. Hoping not intentionally started. Keep up the Great Work You do, Great Information You Give Out to Families and Communities who are or Might be Affected by Fires and Hoping Everyone and Their Homes will be Safe through this and also through the Entire Fire Season Been watching your channel for a long while now and I see how much like your channel a lot, Myself Included. Keep it Up You are Definitely doing a Great Job, You are also a Great Person to understand You take the time to Explain more With the Information You are Speaking About. Kudos Juan
Thank you for explaining this clearly.
Yes we can hear you
My friend Wayne has a hangar. Says firefighters busted all the locks on doors to open for access in preparation to fight any fires inside inside. Thankfully, hangars got hot but none burned.
Wow! I remember flying out of there after I got my PP. Great airport to learn.
I don't understand why anyone would have trees so close to any structure in fire country.

My sister lives near there. She is reporting hangars have torched. Not confirmed.
When I first came to California I went to work at the Mather AFB garage near Sacramento. We wore one piece red overalls "jump suits". If it wasn't 100 degrees we considered it a cool day!😮

They DON'T start by themselves. There isn't any wind, and no faulty wiring in the middle of acreage. So, I would venture to say, MANY are started deliberately by arsonists. It's happened before.

There was several years of rashes of these type of fires (dry windy conditions) in the 1970's and 1980's. It turned out to be a fire captain and investigator with the glendale, CA fire department. They only caught him because he wrote novel about the fires and the parallels were scary close.
Hear and see you fine.

It's great how there was enough warning for everyone to get their airplanes out of there (those capable of flying) before any harm could come to them.
Thanks Juan. What can be done for aircraft still in hangers or the apron?

Hi Juan!!
Seems like the Mad Dogs would ingest the retardant into the engines. Is that the reason fir the extreme nose-down AOA when doing the drop??

Both sad. Juans concerned with man made wild fires in Calif. for some reason. Calls our heat record too. Looking at my historical temperature chart for my area. Not even close to a record..
Are they using chinook helicopters to fight the fires? They can load 3,000 gallons of water in 90 seconds in one of those big choppers.
