Summer's Gone lyrics:
Cue to your face so forsaken
Crushed by the way that you cry
Cue to your face so forsaken
What a surprise
You try to break the mould
Before you get too old
You try to break the mould
Before you die
Cue to your heart that is racing
Stung by the look in your eye
Cue to your heart that is racing
What a surprise
You try to break the mould
Before you get too old
You try to break the mould
Before you die
Cue to your face so forsaken
Crushed by the way that you cry
Cue to your face so forsaken
Saying goodbye
Sing for your lover like blood from the stone
And sing for your lover who's waiting at home
For you sing when you're high, and you're dry as a bone
And you must realise that you're never alone
And you'll sing with the dead, instead
Said, you'll sing with the dead, instead
You try to break the mould
Before you get too old
You try to break the mould
Before you die
Sing for your lover like blood from the stone
And sing for your lover who's waiting at home
For you sing when you're high, and you're dry as a bone
And you must realise that you're never alone
And you'll sing with the dead, instead
Said, you'll sing with the dead, instead
Instead...

I was 22 when I bought Placebo’s album Without You I’m Nothing. That was 21 years ago now. At the time, the album spoke to the inner turmoil I was going through in finding myself in the world, just finishing up university. It has lost none of its brilliance in the intervening two decades. Still sound as fresh and as relevant as it did when I first listened to it back in 1998. Easily up there with the finest albums of a decade of truly great music.

I don't know if this applies to anyone else, their lyrics seem so random and specific, even absurd at times, yet I can relate to them so much...and the tune is like a nostalgic melody you hear in a dream, yet can't be remembered when awake.

24 years later, this song still makes me thrill. At 19, it just pleased me. At 43, it just fill my eyes with tears.
Feels like yesterday you where a teenager listening to this right but also a whole lifetime ago right? If you felt the need to listen to this once more you and I have always shared something pretty alright. Have a great life.
One of the greatest anthems of sadness and loss.
living alone, totally isolated 1999.. thank you Placebo, for im still here

Summer's gone over and over
It was a very sad time in my life , but this song lifted me up and everything turned out good for me 😊
One of my favourites by Placebo (the band that soundtracked my teenage years pretty much with Depeche Mode and Pink Floyd). It's so relatable and I love the band to this day :)

summer's gone… the one placebo song that always makes me weep
This song is just pure magic, especially after a few heavier previous songs from the album it creates a lightweight harmony effect to be yourself. The atmosphere of this song just let you be yourself. Such a great way to express yourself. Be yourself. Be happy with yourself and accept your unique beauty!
For me this is THE music of Placebo
Nunca voy a dejar de amar esta canción, nunca (2021).

Hola Valentina, que buen gusto musical y además que gran sencibilidad al gustarte esta verdadera joya de canción, puedo preguntarte de donde eres?
Have loved this song for so long......oh my.
Brian's beautiful vocals🙏💞💗💞💗Perfect song🙏
Having been both an outcast most of my life and a drug addict at one point, this song speaks to me on many levels. I was in a very abusive relationship many years ago with an ex marine who was also a drug addict for many years before I met her (We weren't boyfriend/girlfriend, she was just a friend but a very close one at the time as well as my roommate) after many months of being behind in rent, going hungry, on/off homelessness, my roommate's violent tantrums and her constantly screaming at me and making feel like a worthless sack of shit for things that weren't my fault I went back home to people who loved me. That's why anytime I see people struggling with similar relationships I always tell them "Go home to someone who loves you". Doesn't always have to be family either just someone who the best for you and will do anything to ensure your happiness and betterment as a person.
playing it during the last day of summer holidays..
I could listen to this song all day. Pure magic
fucking beautiful. Can't stop listening to old albums since I first heard them in 2006
Man this album is genius
Such a beautiful voice.
One of my all time favourite albums 💜 just like Black Market Music. I wish they would make something like this melancholic 90s jazzie vibe again...

@@Onmysheet Your opinion...For me BFTS isn't a bad album but it's very different from the others, it has more "commercial" feeling , the songs are more "easy listening" and they have more pop influences...LLL has a similar mood but it contains some great and "old style" songs like Bosco, Begin The End, A Million Little Pieces, ecc... PS: My favourite song of BFTS is "The Movie On Your Eyelids" that is only on the LP Version that i don't have :/ :/ :/

This song is a unique piece of art and that's a fact...!!!!
Cet album est vraiment une pure merveille... Quel groupe !
One of the better songs I’ve ever heard
The background music reminds me a lot of their song i know, both songs are absolutely beautiful
This song feels like slowly bleeding.
September's sea in this song...
I'm here again. It's easier to survive summer's departure with this gorgeous song
Placebo can create song with 3 to 5 chords with such a beauty
De tantas rolas buenas, No sé ni decir cuál es la mejor, pero ésta tiene una magia, una mística impresionante
Una pieza que te transmite nostalgia, no solo por el pasado, sino por el presente. El tiempo pasa y todo en algún momento acaba.
love this song! I growth old with it. across my "teenage ache" to my "young man ills"!
Aquí estamos todos los que tenemos que apoyar. Incondicionalmente, maravilloso! Kisses Brian & Placebo I love you 😘 forever
