It's worth remembering that Placebo originally covered this almost 20 years ago and while I imagine they added this to their set because of Stranger Things, they've had this in their arsenal for a LONG time and aren't just jumping on the bandwagon!! Long live Placebo!

Placebo is a case-in-point on several things done right when it comes to live shows. 1: overall performance 2: Sound engineering 3: Showmanship There are very very few bands on this planet that can make it sound like you're sitting in on a recording session for their tracks irrespective of where they play. Placebo is one of them. They nail it every time without fail.

Kate Bush version is more fun and poppy. Placebo's is much deeper and almost spiritual and I personally love it.

@@jdraider925 And in my opinion, the original is clown shoes in comparison. What makes this song great to me is the mournful tone of his voice as well as the dark implications. The Bush version sounds unfinished and boring. Different strokes, I guess.

best version hands down you can really feel the darkness of the song

The OC, Season 4, Episode 1. Bought Meds for this song alone and the rest is history!

Since 1998 i follow this power band... amazing, very live power performance. Please, come back to Brazil as soon is possible.

Hands down the best cover of this song it gives the song new life and energy without being a poor imitation of Kate Bush and it gives me goosebumps.

I always loved Placebos Version it has a special feeling!

I heard them the same weekend at Rock im Park and I remember Brian speaking to the audience after their first song saying that hat they are doing ,oldschool music' . It sounded like he was actually apologizing for there performance thinking that people wouldn't even recognise them and he would be afraid to bother the crowd. This absolute decency, the way he touches his hair and straightening his clothes due to his shyness but eventually becoming so confident during the course of the song is mesmerizing.

So nostalgist, I remember when i was teenager when I first heard this. This was my power song and i loved kate bush and your cover was perfect. It's now funny to see you guys older like me too

I agree. Bush is singing the song the way she meant it as a complicated relationship between man and woman but Brian sings it with so much emotion that it’s more than relationships. I always interpreted this song as a dare to God (I discovered the cover and thought it wqs the og for years) and i was surprised when i saw Bush’s music video. At the concert I pointed upwards because I feel like singing this song to god and seeing him do the same thing made me sure he’s singing it to god too. I mean it has layers at some lines you mean it for a person you hurt/who hurt you at some parts it’s a face-off with the creator idk.

Get off the glue! Plecobo doest have the range for this song. The angst you describe is just the absense of dynamics. It's not bad but you're needing a break from sniffing if you think a comparison is to be made,

I saw them when they last came to Australia. I've followed them from the beginning in the 90s. I'm now 44 and I wasn't going to miss seeing them live. It was an awesome night. Brian stopped the concert because he didn't understand how laid back Australians are especially in Queensland. He thought we were all on drugs and wanted in. He got everyone up and singing and dancing. Amazing night Il never forget

I think it was featured in quite alotof American TV shows and movie trailers around 10 years ago which gave it some popularity in the US, or whenever they officially released it as a single, my memory isn't the best tbh, I know alot of people didn't hear it for years as it was only included in the bonus disc of sleeping with ghosts, this was way before they released the covers CD as a separate release, which I think came out sometime after battle with the sun or maybe the album after, like I said my memory is all over the place lol, still the best cover of it I've heard too.

@@susufray3601 Placebo cover was released in 2003, but the original by Kate Bush - in 1985. And show is set in 80ties, so it wouldn't make sense to use Placebo cover. :)

Funny enough I heard this version a few times in the early 2000s because I just kind of liked Placebo but not a lot. But then this really excellent music video which *REALLY* captured the meaning of the song came out and ever since that day in 2006 it has always been an emotionally meaningful song I've kept with me.

It was always an awesome cover by Placebo but now it feels like that its even better! I loved this live version, Brian's vocals are unique!

As an older fellow who was VERY aware of Kate Bush and the original... but more rock minded I always liked this arrangement, but Kate's voice and complex delivery has never been matched by anyone. Im just happy to see Placebo going strong and Kate getting a whole new audience ;)

Been a fan since 2007, when I was a teenager...had the pleasure to finally see them in 2017, 10 years later after a few failed attempts. They finished the show with this song and it was the perfect end for that concert.

I would of loved to be standing in your shoes & they always do a great set at Rock am Ring I often watch the one from 11 years ago I love it so much, I'm going to see them the end of November at Leicester UK & literally can't wait, I'm sure it will be well worth the wait & yes I agree they are still so underrated.
