high jumping and fastfalling can be done with multibinds now that they're allowed, I suppose it'd be nice if there was a single tutorial video for a bunch of this stuff, I'll keep it in the back of my mind if I ever have the motivation to make it. the thing at 3:41 is something we call "updogs" which is basically an instaturn using an uppercut that has some specific uses in a lot of levels. for now if you want help with anything speedrun related there's a dedicated section on the speedrunning discord for this game that's made for answering stuff like that.

its pretty complicated but I can try lol: the game disables room transitions temporarily while we're spamming pause during a room fade-in, and we use the superjump to build up enough speed to clip through the mansion secret's transition trigger and end up out of bounds in the floor 5 hub, and then we navigate ourselves to the ctop room transition. it has to be frame perfect pauses, so the way to do that is by pressing pause *on controller* 1 frame before clicking out of the game, and the game pretty much just frame perfect pauses for you. after you start the pauses you have to wait around 47 seconds until peppino finally clips through, if you wait for too long you'll go too far and end up in a technical difficulties screen and have to start over, and if you dont wait long enough you'll just go to the mansion secret and also have to start over, so you have to click back in at just the right time to do a shoulderbash, which is about a 5-6 frame window.... fun trick 🙃

@@agus_post8528 that skip is both slower to perform in general and also requires the pizzaface door to be unlocked so you'd need to play extra levels

Question. Im not sure if its not playing the gustavo and brick stages or not fighting pizza face that makes him not appear in tctop. But i want to know if not playing fun farm makes mort not appear in tctop. Can we just have somone save the least characters?

Gustavo does appear on tctop (you can see him and Brick in the bottom left of the screen at 48:26) The only reason they didn't follow Peppino in the speedrun is because the player threw an enemy at Pillar John and left the right after, leaving Gustavo & Brick behind I think Snotty is the only character that will not appear in tctop if you do something in your playthrough

I haven’t run the game in a VERY long time, but is there a particular reason you’re only skipping the outro of a few specific levels? Namely Saloon and the bosses (though i know the bosses were always easier to skip it on) also congrats!

a little while ago the main timing method of the game switched from real time to game time, and game time doesn't count during result screens. it's actually generally faster to not do result screen skips anymore because the animation for leaving a level after completing it is faster than the animation of falling from the ceiling after exiting from the pause screen, however with saloon we can teleport up to mr stick by interacting with him while falling from the ceiling, so it's still faster there, and with bosses it takes extra time for the hp hats to travel to peppino after picking up the key which ends up being slower than just exiting the level (unless you have low hp)

I think what happens is when you jump and grab while Mach Running and you let go of the dash button before landing, then your speed will be carried over to walking. I *think* that pausing and holding the opposite direction and then unpausing while speed-walking allows you to continue your speed in the other direction

pausing and pressing the right buttons in the exact millisecond timing lets you fully turn without losing mach 4 and without taking up so much time for the turning animation

those are fastfalls, you can do them by pressing down and grab on the same frame while running in the air, but if you want to make them easier you can setup a multibind

Pretty sure the community decided not to count them, since the in game timer doesn't count them. You can see live split pause during them now, the same way other speed runs automatically pause livesplit during loading screens

It's too long, and you can skip two levels in the Speedrun, so, Oh Shit and Gnome Forest are skipped for being very long
