One of the most influential bands of whom most folk have not heard. David Bowie and Kurt Cobain were big fans. The Pixies are still going strong and there are enough people in the world that they sell out concerts every venue they play globally. This song is a retelling of the Biblical Sampson and Delilah episode - from Sampson's perspective, so yeah, this one is more an angry scream than a comforting melody. There is a BBC _6_ _Music_ _Live_ _Room_ KZread video of this same song at kzread.info/dash/bejne/aZWHxMhtYJnekdo.html that doesn't have the ambient noise and shows more of the musicians playing (as opposed to the wide shots and crowd). They do upbeat and ballads as well. Enjoyed you reacting to them, even if this song wasn't entirely to your taste!

Thank you kevin well like I said bt the size of the crowd show how popular they are and I did like the BBC one you sent me better the funny thing about all this I am sure I have seen them before a long time ago well this is what happens when you get old when a band look familiar and you can't remember where you saw them lol!!

That song is a master class in manipulating people with consonance and dissonance. That guitar is so out! Perfectly out every time in precisely the same way, and then when it resolves in the chorus, you can't help but love how it twisted you into knots waiting for the repose. By the second or third listen, I just loved how harsh and twisted that guitar line was. I wonder if that's how guitarists in the 50's viewed distortion and overdrive.

well as far as I know distortion and overdrive it would be late 60s when they started using them

Kim Shattuck. I'm sure Kim would have progressed to recording, but she crowdsurfed during a gig and was fired. Pixies don't like crowdsurfing. In fact, Charles/Black Francis wrote a solo song called Mosh, Don't Pass the Guy.

Although I focus mainly but not exclusively on All female Japanese rock bands now, although it doesn't have to be heavy metal, or even rock, I have a wide variety of musical tastes, For example before discovering Band-Maid, LoveBites etc etc, I was heavily into Bluegrass, But I also was a follower of indie rock, alternative rock etc etc. I knew the pixies when the Deal Sisters were in the band. Kim On bass, and Kelley on lead guiar. Yep, i guess there was a thing with female bass players in rock bands. Besides Kim . there was Tina Weymouth of Talking Heads, Kim Gordon of Sonic Youth, Darcy W;retzky of SMashing Pumpkins. I'm sure there were others too. When Kim Deal was bassist with The Pixies. Her sister Kelley was lead guiarist. They both were also in a band called The Breeders. Maybe you might check out this video of a song called Cannonball. kzread.info/dash/bejne/mKyqzatyfbe3p5c.html

@@OldMrB "I racted to the Pixies, Misa, like them and the bass player in the band." I saw that , Mr B. "I have just had a look at the link it's Sony, they block everything." Ah, it took me a minute to realise what you meant. You can't play it on your channel. So what is the point of blocking music videos. Can you actually buy music videos?. No, seriously I don't get the point of blocking music videos. I assume you can go the link and play it from the link. You are obviously english. But are you in england. I mean, I am in irish, and in Ireland. It would be weird if the video could be played in ireland, but not england.
