I was introduced to the Pixies in the late eighties by a German friend when I lived in Berlin, and I was instantly blown away. Around 90/91 I saw them live for the first time, unfortunately with very bad sound in a third-rate venue (Metropol, Berlin). But - the best concert I ever experienced was the Pixies' performance at Berlin's Wuhlheide open air venue on June 29th 2004 - right after the reunion of the original line-up with Kim Deal on bass.

The Pixies of my youth were obviously a bit different, Frank had hair and was a bit thinner, and Kim Deal played bass...this bassist is Paz Lenchantin, of A Perfect Circle fame. She does well, its just not quite the same without Kim...

Agreed. I actually saw them two nights ago with Cat Power filling in for Paz, and it was stellar.
The lyrics are a retelling of the Biblical passage about Samson and Delilah. I don't think the female Delilah vocal was meant to be intelligible, just some coos and moans - could be wrong, but have yet to understand that part whether it is Kim or Paz singing that part.
She wasnt singing words, unless you count oooh and sha la la as words
