After a month with the 6a and the 6, my employer paying for my choice so cost was irrelevant, I fully expected to keep the 6. I kept the 6a instead. Fewer issues with the 6a, especially after the Android 13 upgrade, I found myself preferring the 6a. Photography and videography are not high on my list of priorities, but both are far better than adequate. The screen refresh made no difference. But the size is perfect... Not too big, not to small... And even in a case, it fits a shirt pocket perfectly with room to spare. The plastic back, albeit looking and feeling like glass for the most part, is less glass to break. I haven't enjoyed an everyday carry phone this much since I retired my iPhone 7 Plus five years ago.

In fairness to Google the fingerprint sensor on the 6 has improved a great deal.

In the US Google is giving $300 for Pixel 4a and older Pixels. So I got the 6a. I tired to see if the deal applied to the Pixel 6 but it did not, I would get $85 for my 4a on trade for a Pixel 6. Plus Pixel A buds are free if you order a 6a. At those prices I'm fine with an "a" phone. Actually I was fine with my 4a for the past 2 years I just got bored and wanted a new phone.

This why I decided to go with the Pixel 6a, I had just got the Pixel 6 for $480 and Pixel Buds A for $79 few days before preorders opened up for the Pixel 6a. I figured $30 difference I'd go with the Pixel 6, but with the free Pixel Buds A promotion and the better trade in value ($78.50 vs $262.50 Pixel 4a); I ended up returning them and preordering the Pixel 6a for a savings $300 over my previous order.

That was because of COVID that delay the release of the 4a i believe. Still they should go back to march release

I live in the US and I went to buy the Pixel 6 direct from Google and they only offered me up to an $80 trade-in for my Pixel 4a. I removed the 6 from the cart and chose the 6a instead and they offered up to a $300 trade-in for my 4a and gave me a free pair of the $99 Pixel Buds A-Series. I'll wait and see if they offer such a great trade-in on my soon to arrive 6a when the Pixel 8 comes out next year.

I had the Pixel 6 Pro and loved it but in my personal experience the fingerprint scanner was so bad that it became intolerable so I sold it and went with the 6a. The lack of 120hz means nothing to me and I never use wireless charging anyway so it's a win win. Also something to note is that I have none of the issues with the biometrics on the Pixel 6a that I had on the Pixel 6 Pro. Patiently waiting for the Pixel 7 Pro and Pixel watch! 😁

I'd go 6a on size alone. The 6 is simply not comfortable to use 1 handed. The p5 has spoiled me with phone comfort.

I was surprised to see a working demo of the PIxel 6A at my local Best Buy today (7/24/2022). Nice device, but I don't need a new phone just yet.

in Italy the price difference is 120 euros, the 6 is better on all fronts but the 6a costs more than 100 euros less and is smaller, I think it will be my first pixel 😊

For many, smaller is a big advantage as phones have become huge and not every guy is wearing a purse these days.

Price is the biggest decider. But they are especially the same price when the 6 is on sale (which is every 2nd week). Especially since the pixel 7 line is just around the corner

I's a £50 difference in the UK. Amazon (and others) now sell the P6 for £449. It would be a silly decision to buy a 6A at £400 unless you really must have a slightly smaller phone.

No motion mode on my 6a, also I can't use the voice to text feature to send messages. I can dictate a message, and does that okay, but when I say send, it just spells out the word send instead of sending the message.

The photos produced on my pixel 6 aren't much different compared to those on my old 4a. Plus the file sizes are the same . The pixels are binned producing 12mp images

For the little bit extra more money I have to go with the pixel 6. But even for the price of you pre order you get the pixel a buds too for free so there is saving for $100 so then it is worth it for that I say if you are on a buget

At the prices you can snag a p6 for id recommend skipping the 6a unless you absolutely must have a smaller phone

This is a hard sell for me, but since Google Store is offering $300 trade in for my old, tired 3A AND free Pixel Buds-A, it's an easy sell to me for $150. Especially since I can use my already existing Google Financing and it's like $5 a month. No brainer.

Yep, same, I love my 4A (does everything I need in a phone).. but sending it in for a $300 trade in (only paid $329 for it new) , so $150 out the door for the 6A upgrade (including a pair of pixel buds) is definitely worth it, especially considering for that price I'm moving up to 5G, Tensor Chip, larger battery and two more years of Android upgrades..

Good god, I thought the 6a was huge, but seeing it next to the 6 made me realise just how gigantic the regular 6 model is. These are just small tablets now, not cell phones.

actually ... I managed to get the 6a for 325 $ one week ago ..while the 6 is still around 521 $ the cheapest I could find it in my area, I am talking new sealed phones 128GB/6GB(6a)-8GB(6) ram ,like today 25.01.2023...so 196 $ it is a difference for me .

Traded my 4a in against the 6 and got £176 rebate plus the recent £150 off made the 6 irresistible to me...

I own a pixel 4a 5g(partially cracked) and a pixel 6 pro. Really cannot understand why the 6a still has a gorilla glass 3 in the display!! Another thing I cannot get is Samsung offers 4 year system updates and 5 for security.pixels, phone for Google only 3 android updates!

I bought the 6 and returned it right away due to the weight. Thing feels like a brick... Just rediculous

The 6a gets almost 1 year more updates. The 6 end of life is sooner than the 6a by 10 months

In India the price difference is mere 20 Euros however Google hasn't launched the pixel 6 officially here. So we have the imported version without warranty. I want to buy the phone for my wife, my preference is towards Pixel 6 due to more features including better camera and the issues some reviewers have reported on pixel 6a including flawed fingerprint sensor. What do you guys suggest?

Because the camera is, for all intents and purposes, identical. Unless you’re blowing up your images to poster size, the extra megapixels on the Wide camera don’t really make a difference, and the other cameras are the same hardware. Most of Google’s camera wizardry is in the software, which is the same on both devices.

It's not just about megapixels. They have different sensors, so the 6 will have a more shallow depth of field, meaning more natural background blur, and the 6 will be better in low light, especially with movement in low light and for low light video. "Low light" means for example taking pictures of kids or pets indoors so they don't come out blurry. Otherwise, both get saved as 12 megapixel files, android there is no difference if you don't want those things.

Currently I can trade in my old iPhone 8 that’s just collecting dust for $280 credit towards a pixel 6a and a free pair of pixel-a buds. So Out the door I’d be getting a pixel 6a and buds for $208 or so

Are the pixel series really plagued with as many software issues as people say? I have a OnePlus 7 Pro that was screwed over battery-wise via updates. The power of a 6 or 6 Pro would be fine, but after the problems I've had with OnePlus software, I really just want zero fuss. I've never been so tempted to go to apple because of this, but I don't want the walled garden.

I feel ya! I have a OnePlus 8 and the software/camera quality are my main issues. It's like the updates just create new bugs even if they manage to fix the old ones. The update they pushed out around March was the worst and there's some bugs from it that they still haven't fixed. I decided to take the risk and trade it in for the 6a since they're offering me $300 which is more than I can sell my OP 8 for. I had a Pixel 4XL before the OP 8. I had 0 issues with the software and apps were actually optimized for the Pixel so they worked better. The Pixel will be here in about a week or two so I can update you then if you're still interested/curious.

There are custom ROMs for that. I went back to a OnePlus 6 from a 7 pro, after accidentally dropping it face down on a curb edge and shattering its screen. Updated the 6 to Android 12 with Evolution X ROM. Runs so good now that I have little interest in any other phone options. Only thing that'll make me switch to a new phone is a smaller form factor (like the pixel 6a or Asus Zenfone 9), that can charge at least as quickly as OnePlus warp charge 65+ and also has an unlockable bootloader (ie Pixel, OnePlus, Asus, Motorola phones). This way you can have a superb UI, at least better than what OnePlus was putting out for Android 11 and 12 on their phones, and I'm sure better than most stock OEM UX in general. I've had Google phones in the past and a custom ROM usually fixed most issues when Google's UI was down on the sewer levels

@@StuieHunter I've had the 6a for two days so far and I really like it. I haven't had any app crashes or glitches and the gesture navigation is much smoother and less finicky. I can't even tell the display is 60Hz and photos look really good and are true to color. Apps that use the camera(Snapchat, TikTok) don't look zoomed in like they did on my OP 8. My wifi calling wouldn't work on the OP 8 but it works on the Pixel, but that could just be a carrier/network configuration thing. I did a side-by-side speed comparison by simultaneously opening the same apps on each phone and leaving them running in the background. They were neck and neck until the 16th app made the OnePlus freeze up and be unresponsive for a little bit. The fingerprint reader on the Pixel is a little slower than most others, but I haven't had any issues with it not working. I also haven't had any overheating issues like some people have reported. Battery life has been great so far too. I've been using it pretty heavily just to make sure lol

I normally use a pixel 4xl day to day but when I do use my pixel 2xl I just keep the animations at (.5) which helps that slower sluggish feel you get going from 90hz to 60hz. Hell I even do (.5) on the animations on my 4xl as well lol. Just makes everything feel so much quicker. Excellent video as usual from you sir.

I fail to see any significant difference between 5a(waterproofing) 4a5G(free comp unlimited uploads) and 6a(new shell & tensor) I think it shows just how good the older models were. 6a: Same Cameras, Smaller Battery, Smaller screen(not a bad thing), Same Charge Speed, Same Screen res, Similar (possibly worse) Performance, Slower fingerprint scanner. 7a might be the one to get, if there is any change..

No 3.5 mm headphone jack? No good :-( . Bluetooth in real life doesn't work well enough. Not having a headphone jack makes this phone unusable for many people. Poor choice on Google's part. I hope they do better for the next one.

I think the real issue is the P6A should be ~$50 cheaper for the current product stack to make sense

It's weird because lots of other KZreadrs are saying that the 6a has the worst fingerprint scanner compared to the 6 and 6 Pro. Maybe the updates don't match on all of the Pixel 6a and some have more recent updates with the fingerprint fix and some others have older ones without the fix.

The pixel 6a is the smart choice. Smaller. more hand friendly size. Light weight compared to heavier pixel 6.. cheaper and longer software support.

Google please consider some Special Pixel bonuses for STORAGE, e.g. half price Google One storage, or 1-2 yr free 3mo is nothing. We're picking your hardware can't you give us a bonus? I know you don't need to but you'd have one happy clan.

Where is the $150 difference? Well for starters, there is no wireless charging on the 6A nor is there a pretty good size screen. Along with a IP67 water resistance. You're basically bump down in numbers here because the camera is still pretty good. 🤷🏿‍♂️

@@anticommunist840 nothing does not get pixel exclusive features like now playing , magic eraser, day one updates, quarterly feature drops and pixels longer support. Also don't forget the amazing recorder app and way better cameras. My nothing ear 1 were very buggy and had audio drops every 5 mins. They don't work even after a replacement. So I personally won't recommend "nothing" phone to anyone. I don't think they can give the assurance of 5 years without lag experience which many of my friends have experienced with pixel devices.(They have pixel 2,3 and it still works like a charm) Also pixel 6a has a 4k launch discount and 2k discount if you have Flipkart axis card which you can get if you don't. With that the phone is 37k.

With the release of the Nothing phone (1), it's not looking good for Google's Pixel 6a. 💯😁

I have the 6 Pro for my work phone...seems only a good series for those who want the open android market, but can't be bothered to actually know how to use it...its a hand holding phone, just like iPhones. But for the minor difference in price, the 6a is trash. Stick with at least the base 6.
