IMO a better way to do Macro with Pixel is to actually use the zoom lens to zoom far into your subject. This won't have the bokeh effect of the iPhone's macro, but will allow you to get detailed close up shots.

@@TechMax9 It's not technically macro in the traditional sense (the camera won't actually be right up against the subject). But you can get very detailed close up shots with the zoom lens.

The Pixel's ultrawide is wideless because they cut the distorted corners and the image is more natural in the edges.

The pixel video camera has better color though imo

As a pixel fan, we owe the quality of the cameras to Google trying to beat Apple. If it wasn't for Apple, the industry wouldn't be anywhere near where it is. There's no game over for Apple, only more progress. Especially considering they have better earbuds, watches, tablets etc. I'd love to have a Google watch, earbuds that have sound passthrough, etc.

Normal people don’t see these minor differences, and the regular iPhone 13s have last years pro lens, and selling well. It’s in the OS now. I don’t see as OS migration will be big anymore. People now are just invested in the ecosystems. I don’t think many android users at this point will move to iPhone either

I’m not too bothered about the video side as don’t use that much, I like taking photos of Devon where we live, and seeing how I can improve them further in Lightroom, bit of a hobby for me. Edit: How most people want to remember them. I myself don't like the colors of the iPhone and had therefore hoped the Pixel would finally get better hardware again so that they can finally be compared to the top-smartphones again in Terms of features and sharpness. I simply like the darker and more contrasty look of the Pixel

I saw some pictures where the pixel has way too much hdr, and the picture looks too flat. no shadows in the picture can look bad.

The best youtube channel of all time I have ever seen. Spending a lot of money to give quality content to the audience. Best youtube team I have ever seen. A lot of knowledge of tech industry and Apple. I said this because I have learned many things from them. Excellent management and a precious channel for me and many people.

I've found that by using the telephoto lens on the Pixel 6 Pro to zoom into a subject actually results in a sharper and better image than iPhone's macro shot. Not entirely sure I agree on ALL of the video comparison, but I do agree that at 5:47 the Pixel looks to win on contrast and color. The iPhone makes the dog look almost beige in color, whereas the Pixel the dog looks more golden. Also the color of the grass is better on the Pixel than on the iPhone. I will admit that the iPhone image is a bit sharper, but the contrast and color win goes to Pixel. At 10:06, sorry bud, but night skies are not blue. lol For the image at 11:16, remember that Pixel's camera software allows for adjusting light exposure, contrast, color, etc. editing right in the camera software. So if you want less brightness, just edit the photo, adjust the brightness and BINGO! Lastly, rumour has it that Google is supposed to be releasing software updates for the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro (Android 12.1) soon, which is supposed to improve battery life, and camera software. Let's hope that's the case. Great video as always, which is why I subscribe to your channel.

Yours and Mr.Whosetheboss's camera comparisions are really really good. Strange, you didn't see many of the issues Arun was having with his comparision though.

I think the pixel needs few camera updates to fix the graininess in night time video, other than that, it's excellent.

Honestly, I don't think you can go wrong with either (I have a 13 Pro coming in a couple of weeks). In five years or so, they'll be at the DSLR/Mirrorless level. That will be my next upgrade!

It's amazing how the results vary from each tech review as far as opinions. The video quality is a toss up. The sound quality in video the pixel blows the iPhone away. You can adjust the blur on pixels as well. I don't think neither looked good in night video. Pixel was brighter. Still better was usable.

The Pixel 6 Pro has so much noise in their video, it’s quite frustrating to use. I love the phone itself but I really hope this is fixed. The iPhone is definitely better in this regard.

Just want to say good job to both companies, both have very impressive cameras and best ones on the market, Apple and Google should collaborate but doubt that would happen would be sick though

very good. many just casually said which is better with no prove. You show lots of example to prove it. Well done

that's why in challenging light you shoot proraw so you can correct the shadows or highlights as you want.

Unfair that the iphones zoom wasn't taken into consideration, should have done a 3x zoom photo comparison, but still, they both are so close it's almost just upto out preference on what we like.

Google has stepped up their game

what do regular people use more? nightshots / timelapses / portraits / video / landscape photos - my bet is on portraits and video

@@elforensico78 The Pixel definitely isn’t a 10 out of 10 camera. It’s very inconsistent at the moment which is a shame because it used to be very consistent and whilst the video is much better it’s also very noisy. That isn’t a 10 out of 10 camera.

Video recording Is noisy AND poor detail it's photography computational, on camera is always constant because it gives you a good dynamic range without anything burned or overexposed ... with good detail, the hdr + is very exhaustive that's good, my brother's phone 13 only activates the hdr when he feels like it, sometimes nor does it activate it and it looks very normal. but that if ... the one of the iphone when activated looks very good

@@neil_rahmouni It's different person to person. I think @cyril have a valid point. Photos are comparable in both the phones. But video in iPhone stands out a lot. So, iPhone will be a great deal for this.

7:28 I actually prefer the pixel here, it looks more natural and it retains the detail in the dog's hair better

In the night mode shots, the pixel takes longer exposure shots compared with the iPhone. That’s why it looks brighter, but in the night timelapse and video it really shows that image noise because it can’t take long exposure in those modes.

In most night pics where there's light you really don't need to use the night mode. It's regular pictures are better than most night mode shots. You really only need to use it when there's hardly any light

Pixel 6 Pro doesn't use 4x telephoto camera in video. Pixel 6 pro keeps using digital zoom on the main camera instead of 4x optical lens, even in good light.

I think pixel camera is using higher ISO for night shots which might get fixed by a software update. (Or manual app)

It might not be needed, I believe you can adjust exposure, temperature, and brightness when taking night shots.

@@FrizzyLoc18 That’s missing the entire point of a Pixel tho. Pixel’s are known to be point and shoot which is most likely the reason behind not having a manual mode. I’m sure there will be an update.

In my opinion I thought the images looked much cleaner on the portrait shots with the pixel in regards to the dog and the selfie

Apple just told me there’s a bug causing HDR not to work. Apparently it’s being fixed, tho they didn’t give me a timeframe. Might explain a lot of these results, which I noticed just after getting my 13 pro today.

Got to admit the pixel video’s sky color looks littt. The color on the pixel should have gotten an extra point for this. It looks really great. Even though I am an iPhone user.

How was the macro shots on the Pixel done? I saw pretty close comparisons with the zoom lens being used on the Pixel.

He took a regularly shot and cropped out the rest until it was just the piece of metal thing.

How are pictures/videos when using Instagram or Snapchat though !

What I've learned to do is to not nitpick, especially after MKBHD started his blind comparisons. A bunch of the phones we regard as camera giants don't even get to go past the first two rounds. Just pick what you can afford/prefer.

Is your dog named Ren because of Ren and Stimpy? If so that's pretty clever lol

I saw another youtuber mentions to use the 4x lens for macros and it allowed him to get a lot closer.

I have seen the professional photographers taking portraits with 4x tele. Looks amazing. Just natural blur

Love your videos, but I suppose when it comes down to camera, it is personal preference. While I think that Apple killed it on the video portion, I think that Google nailed it in the majority of the still shots coming from the main lens. At 7:44 the picture of you coming from the iPhone looks flat and gives your skin that vintage Apple red tint. The tree next to you in the picture looks dull and not a lot of detail. Looking at the Pixel, your skin tones look more accurate, the tree next to you looks more sharper and more detailed. You can literally count the hairs on the right side of your head on the Pixel, where the iPhone is close to blending them all together. Just my opinion on this one.

5:25 to 6:00 I kinda like the pixel video for saturated color and clear clouds and perfectly highlight building 🥰🥰 Then iphone whitish look and bright video

The Portrait-Shots with the Back-Camera of the Pixel seem very strange as non of the previous Pixels did this bad of a job and indeed, even the Pixel 6 Pro with the Front-Cam did the usual great job every Pixel before the 6 did (at least from what I have seen in the least years). I also saw a few other reviews with Portrait Shots and they were much better and pretty much like the front-facing camera in this test when it came to separation so I really don't know what went wrong with your tests here. Otherwise great comparison. You almost took the exact same pictures as me every time. I only picked the Coffee-Shot for the Pixel as I simply liked the colors in this shot way more and for videos the iPhone actually wasn't that much ahead in daytime in my opinion as while the iPhone was much cleaner, the colors where simply (in my opinion) significantly better in the Pixels video

Honestly I like how the iphone doesn't over process the HDR shots and kind of leaves it to be a bit natural and true to the scene

What about recording longer 4k videos?, pixels always used to heat up badly, does this change with tensor chip?

12MP is really the sweet spot for video up to 4k, and the reason why the A7s3 a full frame video oriented camera is 12MP. 50MP is just too much to fit in such a small sensor.

Arun actually had a different conclusion and different results than yours surprisingly. But y’all both mentioned googles superior low light and iPhones superior video.

Somebody finally pointed out the highlight quirk on iPhones It’s borderline annoying

If you capture ProRAW on the iPhone, you can fix the shadows and get way more details.

As someone who really wanted to get this pixel, I can't man...that low light video simply doesn't belong to a 2021 released phone. I don't know how you can put Pixel as the winner, I would rather loose some points on HDR in daylight and some details in low light ( even tho both photos are very usable ) unlike the night recording where you can't use the pixel one...I think that's been it for me on Android, ordering my first iPhone, after so many years of Samsungs and others, I've lost faith that any can deliver an overall good camera.

If I popped out my 13 Pro Max and tried to take some night mode video around the street, it would get stolen in 5 minutes flat, giving 1 point to the Pixel.

For me it was 19 Points for Pixel vs 12 for iPhone (I gave them both points in some areas) Pixel is the clear winner for me. And I actually liked a lot the lowlights video for the Pixel but didn't give it the point.

I'm so fascinated about how all the major reviews are about the top of the line phones yet with pixels and iPhones the standard phones sell the most. iPhone 13 and Pixel 6 have sold way more than the 13 Pro Max and 6 Pro.

I think pixel's video recording focus heavily on the improvement of dynamic range (sky as an example) with their ISP that they tout during the launch, which looks better than IPhone in my opinion 6:29. but that kinda falls apart under low light condition, which I hope they address in the future. On top of that, the stabilization cannot compare with IPhone's, it is okay, but Iphone is still miles better. Anyway, I like your review a lot.

Could be right. Pixel wanted hdr on video. They achieved that during the day it seems. Maybe not as sharp but I'd rather have colours pop like that than a sharp video with less colours ala iPhone. But night time, the smaller pixel sizes severely hampers it

​@@supaahflyy Agree, pixel size is the key here. I think their camera upgrade on pixel 6 are all about HDR for both still-images and video. But does not optimize well for low light scenarios as many reviewers had pointed out that pixel6 night shot took a bit longer than other phone. The underlying issues is most likely due to the smaller pixel sizes, which gather less amount of light, and required longer exposure time. More pixels render better HDR images yet comes with a huge tradeoff in low-light scenarios. This becomes a significant issue in video. Overall, Pixel6 still have amazing shot, especially shines on the dynamic range and color, but suffers from low light photography a bit in my opinion.
