The most amazing movie ever made

Something tells me, that Alberto has his own sob story. By that, I think he's been lying about his father "not here a whole lot", meaning he's not there at all. Guessing Alberto's father was killed when he was young, and since then has lived in total denial since. He hides his inner depression with a facade of confidence and enthusiasm to hide the pitiful reality, that poor Alberto is Totally and completely alone. Which means Alberto would envy Luca for having a family who actually give a shit about him. I've seen that cliche thousands of times.

I agree Alberto's father is most likely dead but I don't think he'll envy Luca. Well maybe a little but not enough that it will have a conflict. And if this is the route the movie will go, he'll likely get 'adopted' by Luca's parents and become his brother

Back when all the classics first came out people probably felt the exact same. The Classics are just what we grew up with. the 'real problem' is there isn't a lot of originality being made anymore. More often than not it's squeals, reboots, a live action version of a classic or a 'new' movie which is clearly basically a remake of another. Something original and new is rare

Watching the whole movie be like

Maybe Albertos father abandoned him because his mom was a sea monster and his dad didn’t know that, but his mother died during birth. And you have to wash the baby, and Alberto can’t touch water because it will turn him into A sea monster. Then when he got tired of it he left him in the tower. And least that’s my theory I don’t think his father died.
