Pittman Outdoors AirBedz Truck Rear Seat Air Mattress Complete Review in a 2017 Ram 1500 Crew Cab

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Race weekends are expensive. Staying at hotels is expensive. So to save money I've gone as far as just sleeping in my truck at the track, but the rear seat by itself isn't very comfortable, especially if you're taller like me at 6'2.
Then I learned about these air mattresses made specifically for a truck's rear seat and bought one immediately.
This video I take my newly purchased AirBedz Rear Seat Mattress with me to a race weekend in North Carolina. I unbox it right there at the track and get it set up for the night. Then I spend a couple nights on the mattress, one at the track and one on the road at a rest area. Afterward I give you my complete perspective after actual use of what I think about it.

    It's a game changer for sure. I've had this one over 2 years now and still use it. Makes road trips so much easier, and has helped me feel better rested when I just need to pull over for a quick hour or two power nap.

    This is awesome. I drive 9 hours coming from home after work. I do have a room in camp but after 14 days there. I leave right after my last shift. I would pull over for a nap but would sleep for about 5 hours.

    This was a great video. I’m going hunting in a few weeks and I didn’t want to spend big bucks on a canvas tent, cot, sleeping bag, or wood stove. This is perfect, whether it snows or rains hard, not worried about a soaking went ground.

    I just got back from a 3 day race weekend trip and slept on this mattress in my truck all weekend again and still love it. One of my best purchases. I did add one other thing that made it even better though. I found these mesh screens that slide down over the tops of the doors like a sock. It let me roll the windows down to get fresh air coming through while keeping the bugs out. Made living in the back seat even better. Thanks for watching!

    Hey Chris, based upon your excellent review I bought a truck air mattress. Actually, at first I super cheaped out and bought one that was only $48 delivered, but it was a little smaller, had a horrible smell, and went flat the very first night. Sent it back and got the Pittman full size truck mattress and so far so good. Fits my Ram 3500 crew cab from door to door and seat to seat perfectly. Will be using it at the next Las Vegas drags this month to save some money, plus I hate to leave my truck, trailer and car sitting outside at a hotel unattended. Thanks again!

    Glad to hear the same Pittman is working out for you. It's held up for me so far too which is good. I used it in North Carolina during this vid, then in Kansas for 1 night, and then just the other week in Kentucky for MoParty where I used it for 4 nights. This last trip I left late in the day so I had it setup before I even left. Made it super easy when I stopped at a rest area. I was able to just climb over the center console into the back lol. I did find one other thing that made it more comfortable. In Kansas it was hot and because of the bugs I couldn't really have my windows open, so it got a bit stuffy inside. Since then I found these mesh screens that slip over the doors like socks. They let you keep the windows open overnight while blocking the bugs out. I used it in Kentucky and it worked perfect and gave me plenty of ventilation overnight. I have a separate vid coming out on them but still getting caught up on my detroit week vids.

    Thanks for the review. Do you leave any window cracked some when you sleep in your truck? I am planning to use this Pittman mattress to sleep in my truck soon and wondering if ok to leave no window cracked (worried about bugs entering). I know vehicles are not air tight but wondering if it gets too stuffy for breathing comfort in there if all windows/moon-roof are rolled up/shut. Thanks

    The weather was just right the weekend I did this vid and I was fine without cracking open any windows. The next month I used it again for a race in Kansas and it was a lot hotter but the bugs were insane so opening the windows wasn't an option. Then I found these window sock screens and problem solved. Been using these ever since. Here's the vid I did on the screens kzread.info/dash/bejne/g5-Jo61rcbvMh6g.htmlsi=MjBYjfT4Ku19rRJ_

    When I did this vid, it wasn't an issue. Bugs weren't really out yet and temps were cool overnight. Then a month later I had a race in Kansas where it was hot and humid and the bugs were definitely out. That was miserable lol. Did some searching online and found these nylon screen sock things that go over your door. Solved that problem perfectly. I did a vid on those too that you can check out here along with links to the screens I got in that vids description - kzread.info/dash/bejne/g5-Jo61rcbvMh6g.htmlsi=7pJzNATwbhnR-Av3. Hey Chris, how do you get fresh air and not get drenched in a rain storm?

  • @Scavenger1320

    @Scavenger1320

    Жыл бұрын

    Good question. I haven't got caught in the rain and never thought about it. For the fresh air part I found these window door socks that I did another vid on that solve the fresh air while keeping bugs out issue. But if it was raining, I think I'd extend my canopy I usually take with me to races as high as it would go and pull my truck under it. And if I wasn't somewhere I could just put it up, like a rest stop, I guess I'd just have to try and live without fresh air circulating. Another option would be to get a set of those window vent guards so that you could still at least crack the windows open a little bit

    Good question, I thought about that for a moment at first but then never really noticed the slope so didn’t give it much more thought. I think there is still a little bit of a slope but again, it’s not something I’ve noticed and I’ve used this mattress a lot since I got it in this vid, even as recently as last month at a race in Kentucky. I had a buddy of mine go there too and he decided to get this mattress and give it a try for at least the first night. He said it was comfortable and ended up just sleeping in his truck the rest of the weekend.

    I don’t have a full size truck, but could you just fully lay down the passenger seat?

  • @Scavenger1320

    @Scavenger1320

    Жыл бұрын

    You can and I’ve done that, but in most trucks it won’t lay completely flat, plus you have the dip in the middle between the lower and upper parts of the seat, plus your legs are still bent with feet on the floor. In other words, it’s not comfortable. It’s ok to get in a quick couple hour power nap at a rest area, but that’s about it.

    I'm honestly not familiar with Ford trucks, or the extended cab, but I would think it would still fit. It is just filled with air so even if it didn't have room to fill out all the way it would still fill the entire gap there is.

    I believe it should fit the quad cabs also. I know in my crew cab if I move the front seats as far forward as they can go it leaves a pretty good gap between the seat and the mattress, I'd say maybe 6-8" at least. I don't know the exact measurements but I would think that's not too far off of the difference in rear seat area for a QC.

    Thanks for the tip. Just checked them out. It would be nice to be able to get just the sides though since I already have a windshield shade. I did end up getting some window screens that let you open the windows to get airflow while keeping bugs out. Those have helped a lot with shade. I also ended up with a system where I hang towels like drapes by stuffing the edges between the headliner and pillar trims. It's been working out pretty good for me for a while now.
