Pittie Puppy Who Couldn't Even Move Runs To Her Favorite Person | The Dodo Pittie Nation

Үй жануарлары мен аңдар

This pittie puppy was taken to the vet because she was stiff as a board. Her owner had to surrender her because he couldn't take on her medical bills - but thankfully one of the vets decided to take her home and take care of her ❤️

This is why proper wound care or hygiene according to peer review journal papers, reduced tetinus by over 95% long before the vaccine ( about or after the civil war) Because tetanus is an annorobic bacteria, it needs total lack of oxygen to survive and cannot infect if a wound is flushed out properly such as with hydrogen peroxide. This is why it does not occur in superficial wounds but in deep puncture wounds. Exposure to certain livestock fecal matter spreads it in soil and contaminated items. It is also worth noting that this dog might have been vaccinated. Just like with parvo, they can still contract the disease and there are numerous cases in medical journals of fully vaccinated individuals getting tetinus. See Dr. Suzanne Humphrey's speech on the history of tetinus on KZread. Just so you know these symptoms can also be indicative of certain poisoning cases such as strychnine.

@Ann Moore She said it was tetanus (a type of bacteria). Humans get tetanus by for example if someone falls on the ground (usually the bacteria is present outside on the ground for example if I remember correctly), the bacteria could enter the body this way. Not entirely sure how it works with dogs but I assume it's pretty much the same. We get vaccinated for it though but I'm not sure if dogs also get vaccinated for it.

  • @bigdream_dreambig

@Ann Moore From the Mayo Clinic website: "Once tetanus toxin has bonded to your nerve endings it is impossible to remove. Complete recovery from a tetanus infection requires new nerve endings to grow, which can take up to several months." So once you've reached such an advanced stage you really do need TLC. And, even then, there can be complications: " *Broken bones.* The severity of spasms may cause the spine and other bones to break. *Blockage of a lung artery (pulmonary embolism).* A blood clot that has traveled from elsewhere in your body can block the main artery of the lung or one of its branches. *Death.* Severe tetanus-induced (tetanic) muscle spasms can interfere with or stop your breathing. Respiratory failure is the most common cause of death. Lack of oxygen may also induce cardiac arrest and death. Pneumonia is another cause of death."

@@frilledlizard6270 - I love the heart and feeling here! But wait just a little. Wait until you are sure that where you will live will accept pets. And you still might have to move... Wait until you have a few grand in your savings account. I have yet to have a pet emergency that cost less the 1,000. Not having the money to save the life of your best friend is devastating. Wait until you have a trustworthy backup (roomate, next door neighbor, bff) who can come to the rescue if your boss asks you to pull a second shift. Wait until you know what size of dog you can afford (bigger dogs cost more foodwise, and spacewise.) Prep your space, and prep your life, because this relationship will last longer then most MARRIAGES!!!! And, unlike a marriage, if it doesn't work out the blame is all on you. All of that responsibility is scary, and maybe it sounds like I am trying to dissuade you from having a pet but that couldn't be further from the truth. Instead, I hope you will take my advice as it was intended. Because when you think about and plan for the worst case scenarios, that isn't being paranoid, it is being prepared to be the most confident capable human companion you can be.

I'm glad you never saw what tetanus does to humans. Especially the militarized versions. It's barely survivable, only with tube feeding and a whole lot of work put in. Some of the damage is permanent and will never resolve, the stiffness goes away in about 3 or 4 years. But there's some left, range of motion is permanently comprimised. You have to think about every movement you take ahead of time. Tough pup, hope he's recovered enough to be what he is. Beautiful story.

My hat is off to this lady (and her hubby,) for taking this poor pup on in such a state as she was (NM the vet bills!) It must have been incredibly hard to see her in such a state, day after day. What a strong couple, and what a strong and determined pup to go through all that. @loobylouboti Even when we are breaking, we've got to pull up our big adult panties & get our inner wonder strength on for the good of the one that is suffering. To give up or say it is too much would mean certain death for many. Wow ,I have never seen anything thing like this . And you keep her so clean and pretty giving her dignity. Just when you think your own life sucks and you see this beautiful babies story it really makes you think twice about feeling sorry for one's self. Your absolutely amazing person to help her on her journey in LIFE.

Her taking Bunny in after the owner couldn’t pay the bills was a wholesome move. Bunny has changed so much under her care
