Xena's furry therapy is the best! In 1972 my parents rescued a huge, neglected German Shepherd. One day, she took him to the park and there was a teacher with a group of children on a class trip. Suddenly a boy from the group walked over and nonchalantly pets our German Shepherd, Max. The teacher was shocked and said that autistic boy had never reacted to anyone or anything until that moment. It was the magic of Max who inspired this autistic boy's breakthrough.

A dog's value is immeasurable. For autism, PTSD, the blind, the deaf, those with seizures, those with mobility issues...the list is endless. The dog's do their jobs willingly and with enthusiasm. They love almost unconditionally.

I know, given my Type 1 diabetic mother who, is now “helping” St Peter at the Pearly Gates since 2019. My Dad got himself a hunting buddy, Tank, Yeah Tank should have been renamed Mommy’s Shadow because he refused to leave her side and let Everyone know the moment her blood sugar started to drop.

Animals can often be more interested in and ACCEPTING of us than other people are. Xena has no ulterior motives behind her behavior, just pure love for Jonny.

Really happy to see that this dog landed with a family that could not be any more appreciative of her. 😃

Every child should grow up with a dog. It's one of the best things ever. The only downside is when they have to leave..

Oh man I totally agree. I'll never forget when I was around 10 my mom's college professor gave us a perfectly trained 3 year old boxer bc the guy's wife didn't like the poor dog. He was the light of my life.

Humans will never heal without the love of an animal. This young boy and pittie is proof of that

Pitties are some of the most loyal dogs you'll ever come across. It makes them happy to please their owners. On top of that, that dog would give her life to protect your son. God forbid that is ever necessary. People who haven't owned a pittie should not judge them. Best dogs ever. A holes make them mean. They are born, seeet loving, and happy. Love your story.

Dogs are so much better than humanity deserves. I'm so grateful for them and so glad this wee man found his voice when he met his soul dog.

She was a angel sent from Heaven just for him, glad he's finally happy and talking.

Two kindred souls finding their safety in each others gravity.

Remember that no mean pitbulls are born that way. Mean people who should never have access to dogs sometimes train them to become monsters. Glad Xena has been a blessing for your son.

Pitties are some of the most special dogs ever.

You just never know what animal is going to click, so glad you kept trying and gave Xena a great job to do that healed her as well.

I have a xl pittie and people see her and her size and will literally walk into traffic to get Away from her! She's automatically judged before even knowing her! She has healed me in ways medicine hasn't been able. She is my Happiness my world, she is my Freya Moon!! Hearing that sweet boy brought tears of joy to my eyes❤

pitbulls are awesome. i don’t know why people hate them so much.

We've had 2 pitties, a boxer, a Rottweiler, and 2 terriers in my lifetime. They were all rescues at early development ages. They were never aggressive, more like babies. They all lived long lives, except 1. They were all smart and easy to train. They would approach the front door silently behind me because THAT is how they were trained.

Our pitty mix was the most gentle, loving dog we ever had. She was great with the grandkids, other dogs, and anyone she met. She went to the Rainbow Bridge over 2 years ago and we still miss her so much.

Pit bulls👼🏻 ❤are the most special amazing loving intelligent protective companions you could ever be blessed with🐶 💯👍🏻🙌🏻😇

The same way that guns dont kill people, pit bulls arent evil. It takes a human being to to turn either against you. Animals are born just wanting to love and be loved. I am glad this boy found something to open his life and bring him joy. Also glad the Mom put the things she heard aside and let the little pittie into their home.

What a comfort to know that animals are so much more intuitive than us, and seem happy to volunteer their love and friendship just where it is needed. So glad for them both.

Pitbull is my spirit animal.

I’m so happy for Johnny and Zena ❤ animals and small children are a blessing to one another and don’t let the big dog stereotype scare you because they know who to trust and it’s the humans who make them bad 99.9% of the time especially the females they’re protecting in a good way 😊

I've only met a few pitbulls (illegal here), but the ones I've met were all amazing normal dogs. From what I gather they have the same personality as my staffie had more or less. This insane love and loyalty to people, which of course can be problematic with the wrong owner. Dogs are never the problem, people are.

That is the magic of animals. In most cases, they will bring in a different view of the world and a peace, calmness, and oneness with things greater than ourselves.

I’m autistic and have always had a special bond with dogs.

Such a lovely partnership!

Our west highland is like this with our autistic daughter too. We didn't train her, she just knew what to do and chose her out of all three children to bond with. She can head off a meltdown in seconds with her licking and lying on her.

And now you completely understand the saying "There are no bad dogs, just bad owners!" There hasn't been a truer statement to explain the stigma of pit bulls! They have been used as nanny dogs for human children for many years and do an exceptional job! I'm very glad you know the truth now! ☀️💖🙏

When my mom was in the hospital for kidney failure, there was this absolutely gorgeous gentleman called Cowboy, a therapy Pit and she never missed a chance to get snuggles from him. Good Lord such a beautiful boy.

Xena is a beautiful girl and together, they are the perfect couple!

Isn't it great when God sends us exactly what we need. Bless them both, awesome story.

My Dog Rex / Dachshund who I rescued from the Humane Society at 9 months old. He was awesome with my GodDaughter with special needs. He stayed by her side to make sure she was ok. When she pulled his ears he didn’t even care. He loved her so much. All I had to say was Corbin is coming to visit & Rex would sit at the door till she got here. Then sit next to her the entire visit. When we went to Corbin’s house I did not even need a leash, Rex would run to the car, ready to go. Dog’s are smarter then we give them credit. 🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾 ❤💙
