Pittacus of Mytilene: The Pious Statesman

Ойын-сауық

Pittacus is one of the seven sages of ancient Greece, a collective of rulers, thinkers and profoundly wise individuals who helped shape the world of Archaic Greece. Pittacus was born and ruled in Mytilene, a city-state in the Greek island of Lesvos.
All the Quotes of Pittacus of Mytilene:
- Know thine opportunity
- Don't say what you intend to do, because if you do not succeed, everyone will laugh at you.
- Listen to your friends.
- Don't do yourself, what you do not like in others.
- Do not blame someone for being unfortunate. These are things that provoke the anger and punishment by the gods.
- Return goods that have been entrusted to you.
- Show tolerance to small damages inflicted upon you by your neighbours.
- Don't slander your friend, nor praise your enemy, because such a thing is unreasonable.
- It is difficult to foresee the future, what has already happened is the only certain thing.
- Land is trustworthy while the sea is untrustworthy.
- Profit is greedy
- Acquire what is not destroyed by time: piety, education, prudence, thoughtful mind, truth, belief, expense, skills and dexterities, co-operation, care, effective management, professional knowledge.
