Glad you had a better experience than me! I hear the favor improves with maturity too. I didn’t realize you made so many videos, this one was suggested. Good job!

Great work Joe! Tasting in the front of the camera is a winner, you do it well. I would ask if you want to trade seeds because I have no Pitomba but it looks like I will have to wait a year or two until you get more fruit. Bill

Love the the music that you played as soon as you picked the fruit. I live in NorCal and like you I’m planting tropical fruits. I wish my yard is as big as yours in Los Gatos. I wish you’re not moving to Hawaii so I can experiment alone ng with you.

Ha ! Love the little backgrd music lead in...lol. Nice...My Grumichama is growing well but still awaiting fruit, but I held off on the Pitomba...may rethink that :) I hear there are some similarities; should have some soon from my Vermillion Surinam Cherry and may have some initial flowers on my Black Surinam...the leaves seem somewhat similar to my Lemon & Strawberry Guava's, though maybe firmer with a lengthier distance between nodes...good work, Joe...cheers !

Joe....sorry to hear; they can be frost sensitive for sure...my grumichama is doing great, but has the benefit of a microcimate largely in shade under the edge of a porch :) Growing well though only in the ground since late summer or so. I hear for that plant, early growth may be unusual, so I remain optimistic. We''ll see. It is still small. I may begin a youtube channel but my career keeps me busy, so may be infrequent. I was going to begin with an overall yard tour of roughly 500 plants (plus 4 veggie beds--don't count those plant totals) close to 19 yrs in the making (bought current property over 19 yrs ago), but today the City put in near curbing on my interior corner lot and destroyed some rare cacti...so may need to postpone at least a few days. Will keep all posted...thinking the name will be Desert Dominion Gardens, my registered name for my Certified habitats...anywhoo, it is similar top-ntoch gardeners like you that help to inspire me to maybe also share with others here, at least on a limited basis

Did you tasted eugenia pyriformis or lutescens, uvaia? it looks so similar... (I use to describe it as a mix of tangerine/apricot ot so, but it is unique too, and the skin smells like caramel/popcorn) I have a pitomba like yours but it is maybe 2 or 3 years from fruiting.

Does this have the same peppery, resinous after taste as the eugenia uniflora/surinam cherry?
