At first glance it looks like a chihuahua version of the persimmon lol. Appreciate the details you get into with the taste profile, really helps to get my brain around these strange exotic fruits :)

We have this tree but I've noticed a slightly 'perfume' taste - at the end. Which reminds me of the roseapple but not so distinct.

Thank you very much for the review. I have a little tree, 1 feet tall or so, 3 or 4 years old, growing too slowly... all the people I know that tasted the fruit liked it a lot... it should be similar to uvaia (eugenia pyriformis), what I love!

The other Pitomba fruit is called Cotopalo (Talisia esculenta) and it taste a lot like Matoa/Kasai (Pometia pinnata) or like very sweet and flavourful Lychee

Hello Mr J Rydelek, WFE. I hope that you all will have a nice Thanksgiving. It is a holiday, so you will probably be working. Thanks for making videos.

It's funny you'd name those flavors, because really ripe pitomba taste a lot like very sour/tart, but also very sweet apricots, in my opinion. Unfortunately, they ripen and expire very quickly once they turn orange.

Does this have the same peppery, resinous after taste as the eugenia uniflora/surinam cherry?

Never saw this type of Pitomba. I am from Brasil and we have Pitomba but is completely different from the one in this video. Pitomba it’s very common in North of Brasil but now we have in many States. It’s sweet and you have to get the taste from sucking the seeds inside. The pulp itself is very little. The skin is brown and a little hard like Jabuticaba. Very sweet and good snack... I loved it! I looked up on the net and the seeds shape from this type of Pitomba are the same. Thanks for sharing ! 🙏🏼

I watched one of your contortion videos.... I was expecting it to be pretty amateur and cringy - because what are the odds a big exotic fruit youtuber would also be a pretty good contortionist and entertainer. I was surprised, it was very well done. It must be hard to do that and also keep the audience well engaged.

Weird Explorer ha. I’ve heard they are sweet and not bitter when RIPE-ripe from Green Dean’s site, but also that they are poisonous at that stage from others. No idea what is true.

At first I also thought it looked like persimmon, must be the way Jared holds it. Then I realized the leafy things are on the bottom of the fruit, like rose hips, not at the top like persimmon.

Btw in both cases those are sepals (calyx segments), the difference is inferior ovary vs superior ovary.

Hawk Sidewinder But this is a new fruit which has hints of pitangatuba. We don't know if the concoction of flavors of this fruit will be more preferable to him or not. Let's wait for his judgement.
